Last week we lost our beloved Sheldon (wheaten terrier). Sheldon was almost twelve and a half years old and the love of our whole family. We are devastated more than words could say. The only thing that eased our pain was to start purchasing personalized items with his name and have huge pictures of him blown up so we could see him all over our home. In our grief and confusion, we purchased a personalized frame on line from Etsy but forgot to add his name! Within seconds, a rep emailed us and sent his condolences and asked us to submit our baby boy’s name so they could proceed with the order! The frame arrived today and it is just gorgeous! Thank you Etsy for all your help.

Etsy is all about creativity. Whether it’s party invitations or funky jewelry designs — Etsy has countless varieties of all possible items. I shop on Etsy whenever I feel bored by limited selection of in-​store merchandise.
Etsy always improves my mood — I love imagination!

I really liked an item and wanted to buy it. For 2 days I tried to use their payment process, PayPal, but it was not working. You can not contact Etsy. The email that I sent, asking for help, was answered with the suggestion to «contact the seller». I did and after 4 days, agreed to send a Money Order to the seller. You can guess the rest of the story. The seller took the $ 377.00, cancelled his Etsy account and his cell phone number. Etsy said they couldn’t help me because I had not used PayPal… but Etsy, I tried for 4 days!!! Etsy has ignored the entire issue and was not willing to give any forwarding info or any help so that I could try to re-​coup my money. It has been reported to the police. There is no support for the buyer. Beware!

What a special place! I wasn’t sure I wanted to go but I am a big shopper on Etsy and was interested in seeing the HQ.
It was a great group of women, all interested in crafting (thankfully, not all experts!). Last night we did embroidery, this was my first time but it was an upbeat, happy environment so that it didn’t matter if the project was not perfect.
It would be fun to go with a girlfriend or two and then have dinner at a restaurant in the area (Etsy closes at 7:45) or walk down to the brooklyn bridge park for an ice cream cone.

need a way to spend your Monday evenings on a low budget? go to Etsy Labs. you can use their sewing machines and materials, and they often have classes that you can attend to for free. They even supply the materials. The space is quite big, and people are friendly. would go again for sure.

My visit to Etsy HQ was right on par with Pixar. I am in awe at the creativity that bleeds from the site. Who knew that Etsy wasn’t just about stuffed animals and invitations? Apparently more than 2 million people. I was not part of that 2 million because I live under a rock, or what some people call New Jersey. The décor of Etsy HQ is just a slight example of what you can find on the site for purchase and services offered. Need a Twitter typewriter? Bike rack made of bikes? A spaceship? Some crazy ass lamps? You don’t know you need and want these things until you see them. You can’t imagine what these things look like until you see them.

Monday night is Craft Night year round from 4 – 8. There are themes each week and all the supplies are provided. This is free and there is quite a huge turnout (40+ people). There is plenty of room, tables, and craft supplies to go around. All ages are welcome. There were kids as young as 7 so if you have a young budding artist, this is a great afterschool activity for them. The crafts are something all ages can accomplish and if you start with a skill level of zero, you will leave with an 8. See me knitting on the subway.

There is a DJ, two turntables, but no microphone. You will be crafting to ambient, hip hop, and some new age stuff. It’s cool and über hip. Crafting has never ever been so relaxing. There is also a ping pong table.

There are snacks. Graham crackers, marshmallows, water, wine, grapes from someone’s backyard… catered chili.

The theme rooms are more inventive than Mickey’s Toontown and Nacho Libre. There’s even a door frame that transports you to jolly ol England.

Etsy Labs is the best thing ever. Ever ever.
Open on Monday nights from 4 – 8 for Craft Night, it is seriously a crafting wonderland. You can always find someone to ask for advice or inspiration. The Church of Craft on the first weekend of every month also brings out a nice, interesting crowd of crafters. I really enjoy getting to try things I would never have even thought to wonder about like glass etching or making fabric flowers. They also have just about anything you could possibly need for any type of craft, both supply-​wise and equipment-​wise, which is awesome for those of us who like to try things out without committing — I’ve been going to use their sewing machines a lot until I convince myself to buy one of my own. Love it!!!

Etsy is a dream. I’ve bought and sold on Etsy for about a year now. It took me that long to finally take them up on their craft night offer and boy was it fun.
Every Monday night they have a craft night at the Labs that they also air online. The Monday I went we made embroidered cards. Very cute, very easy to do and a great idea for a little craft to do. Everyone there was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely go back for some craft night magic.

This place is for crafty people or wanna get crafty people! Very welcoming environment.
They have great classes and free monday events where they teach you a craft and supply materials and everything to do so.
You’ll walk out feeling more empowered and creative in whatever your craft, art, business is. You actually see a final product for your efforts in a short amount of time. Ahhh. the satisfaction.
It’s a very community-​oriented environment. It takes the New York edge off. Remember collaboration instead of competition? Yup, that’s what this is about!

They moved Etsy Lab to the third floor of the same building. So the website is on the 6^th floor and the lab has its own space. Church of Craft is the first Sundays of every month, where you can use the lab’s materials– fabrics, scissors, sewing machines… and some machines whose purposes were unknown to me– for free. I went last Sunday, and found myself suddenly dusting off my sixth grade home ec skills and making a pillow. I even put a border around it. Luckily the sewing machine was already threaded. The assumption is that you more or less know what you’re doing, with some help here and there. Most people bring a project that they are working on, and the emphasis is more on having a chat or making small talk, with their crafts as a kind of conversation starter. The day I went, it was all women, and one guy making a suit of armor. I am kind of glad that I was left to myself to figure out how to use the sewing machine and remember what I could about sewing. I would probably feel differently if my pillow didn’t turn out so well. Every Monday from 4−8pm they have craft night, which has a theme. I think it is slightly more structured and run directly by Esty. I plan to go.

Yay Etsy Labs! I have been an Etsy seller for almost two years and was excited when I learned that the online site chose Brooklyn as their HQ. The space is constantly in flux, but it’s very relaxed, full of crafty goodness. There is almost always something going on, and Monday Nights are usually free to all, in terms of using their supplies and machinery.
I’m very pro-​Etsy, as you can probably guess, so I hope that their business practices and their accessibility as company employees can change the way modern business is done. Even if you can’t make it to the Labs in person, they often hold classes and discussions in their «Virtual Labs.»

OK so I didn’t do much of anything here except reandomly find it with my sister after we walked over the Brooklyn Bridge, but the place is pretty dope. The labs have classes for all your DIY needs. They share the space with Make (where my friend Natalie Zee works, and the Brooklyn office is also home to Bree Pettis).
Back to the Etsy side of things, the staff are really friendly and the space has lots of great things like their new/​old letterpress.
My sis is going to take some classes there and I suspect I’ll be getting a rad gift that she may make from the wisdom she gains in the Lab!

Heads up Crafty Ones. This place has it all!
Sewing machines, a kitchen, a drum kit, a skate ramp, jewelry bench, and they are adding more items every day. They are all about encouraging people to make and create, with access to all of their goodies.
Basically Etsy has set up a space where people can go to make stuff. Join and come any time for a very reasonable $ 20/​month.
There is a big lounge area to hang out with your yarn or collage project, or to make use of their awesome stuff. Bring thread and fabric if you’re planning to use the sewing machines.
