I usually do my taxes myself, but this year my tax situation was a little too complex for me and Turbotax to handle. So, I found this place on Unilocal and I am so happy I did! Franz Jr. helped me and my husband handle our first time filing jointly, dealt with returns for NJ and NY state taxes, and even helped me track down some missing W2s from a former slacker employer. The whole process took about 6 days, he e-​filed for us, and we got a refund less than 2 weeks later. Highly recommended!

I had a short, simple, and very nice experience that I thought I’d share because it’s a good reflection of the trusting character of Mr. Fairweather.
I’m 30 and I wouldn’t say I have a complex tax filing. But I had some unique situations and felt it best handled by an accountant. I scheduled a brief session with fairweather to go over my documents and hand them over to have my taxes filed and submitted.
It took 15 minutes for me to present my situation, upon which Mr. Fairweather gave me some advice on the filing and assured me I’d be capable of filing everything on my own. He could have easily taken my documents and filed for me and charged me, but instead he offered up his time and advice for free and I was on my way. Guess that’s what you call paying it forward as an accountant.

Came here due to the Unilocal reviews and they did not disappoint. When I first came in, it seemed a little disorganized and they wouldn’t quote me a firm price, so I was a little scared, but after they started digging in, it was all gravy from there. I made some pretty large errors on previous tax returns and they were able to correct everything. I also paid for TurboTax and filed my taxes there just to see if Fairweather would be worth the money, and they saved me a ton of money compared to what TurboTax said I owed.
I mostly worked with McKennie on my taxes and he was super diligent, personable, and had great attention to detail.
I’m now moving to the burbs in Jersey (don’t judge) but will have no problem making the long trek back to Brooklyn just to work with these guys again. They’re the best.

What would I do without Fairweather Tax? Franz Fairweather (the son) helped me with my personal and business taxes 2 years in a row and I am SO GLAD I found him!!! He is very fair, works fast, thorough with paperwork, smart, helpful, quick to respond, and genuinely a kind person! He made tax season easy for me, and charges very affordable rates for small business owners like myself. EXCELLENT!!! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! A+++

I have gotten my taxes done at Fariweather for 7 – 8 years. The customer service is terrific, and their work is excellent. I cannot recommend them more highly. I have referred at least a dozen friends to Fairweather and they all thank me for it. They are helpful if you need standard taxes or accounting, but especially helpful if you have any small business income. And they are just really nice people. Fairweather himself is a very good man.

Mr. Fairweather has been my tax guy for well over ten years. I always recommend him to friends & then they come back to me telling me how awesome my guy is.
He is a networker, knows a bit about everything and has immense integrity.
He was my business accountant and now that I no longer own restaurants, he helps me properly manage my parents estate and retain every dollar so that in their old age with rising medical costs and NOTHING being covered by HMOs, I can care for them luxuriously and they want for nothing.
If that is not enough, he is one of my absolute favorite people, I return to New York every year because only he can do my taxes. He and his staff are an absolute treasure.
O & lastly, he will never tell you something will be done by a certain date if it is not possible; I hate when companies tell you they can do something that is simply not going to happen to get your $, when if you know you must file something by a certain time that they can’t do, you would go elsewhere.

Richard Fairweather was recommended by a friend and I’m glad I found out about him. His shop is small and modest, but his character is great and services are top notch. We had a fairly complicated return this year, so his guidance and expert recommendations were much appreciated. We got a nice return and Richard and his team instilled confidence and trust from the start. Aside from being a good accountant, he’s also a great guy.
