Omg! Worst costumer service all time! The women with a reading glasses, I guess the manager, she gave me tons of attitude and was extremely rude. She should get fired. Point. There is no need to talk to the visitors that way. What a loser!

I just decided to post this in between reps but after coming here for months, it’s finally about time to give it a review. It’s a great spot with 2 exercise rooms with machines, a room used for classes, and also a gymnasium upsyltairs. I’ve never seen it crowded here, so there’s never been any real wait for machines. Hopefully it won’t get too busy with the weather warming up!

Recently moved into the neighborhood after a month in Manhattan, where I tested out a few über-​sleek gyms with all the frills, but zero personality and exorbitant membership fees. The Flatbush Y is a very welcome contrast — by far the friendliest gym I’ve ever joined, with a strong community feel. The cardio and weight rooms are perfectly sufficient and never crowded, and there’s a good range of high quality group fitness classes taught by always-​entertaining and professional instructors. The family rates make joining really affordable — they have a number of reduced fee options for people on lower incomes and also have periodic special offers — and the warm atmosphere and class offerings make this a much better value, in my opinion, than the Blink down the road.

I second everything the other posters have said.
A 6 minute walk from the last stop on the ²⁄₅ @ BK College, also accessible by multiple bus lines, incl the 41 and 44.
There is no pool but — the climate controlled weight room has all modern equipment and is clean. There is little open space for a mat but you can use one of the adjacent rooms, if there are no classes in session.
The cardio machines have their own dedicated room — thankfully so — no meat-​head grunts within hearing range. It looks out into the street. Again, all modern equipment — lots of machines and clean.
The [men’s] locker room is clean enough but has that high school feel. There is a sauna, no steam room, a working hair dryer by the sink — begging for some Windex.
Staff is helpful and friendly. Great hours M-​F, 6am-​11pm, Sat/​Sun, 8−8pm.
UPDATE: With the recent proliferation of the cheaper, brighter, and more convenient «Blink» and «Planet Fitness» chains, deeper into Brooklyn, this «Y» location may no longer be a bargain for someone that needs just a workout. However, if fitness is a lifestyle for you and/​or your entire family, the «Y» in its mission, offers what those chains don’t: classes and a full (kid friendly) gymnasium, with various (basketball/​soccer) leagues and pick up games.

The staff is super nice and no one bugs me about personal training. The gym is a little rough around the edges but everything works as it should. The price is great and it’s not a predator gym like Bally’s. I dig it.

Triple fat burn baby!!! Took a class with the fabulous Fabiola called triple fat burn. It was a great workout and Fabiola is an awesome instructor. If you can catch one of her classes you should definitely go and feeeeeeeeeeel the burn!

Good place to workout. It’s rarely crowded, and even when it is, there is always either a machine available or a short wait for weights. Staff is very supportive.
They have no pool, so if that is your thing then you are out of luck. But for working out it is fine.
