Dr Goldman & her staff are wonderful and caring. They fit in my son who was having immerse pain right away. They are thorough, kind and understanding of patients anxieties regarding Dentists. Dr Goldman is down to earth and a straight shooter. Her staff goes the extra mile to make you comfortable. They don’t overbook so you aren’t sitting in the waiting room forever.

Just got back from my six month visit and cleaning and I couldn’t happier. Finally an appointment with a good report :) I have no new cavities and its all thanks to Gentle Dental. I have been a long time patient and have been seen by both Dr. Kravets and Dr. Goldman throughout the years. The staff of Gentle Dental make a going to the dentist easy and quick. The staff is friendly and efficient. Always making sure to confirm appointments and explaining how all the various insurances I have had in past work. The care is attentive and I have never been hassled about expensive cosmetic treatments like I previously experienced with my dentist in D.C. I have had several friends thank me for referring to them. Also for whats its worth they both have delicate small hands which actually makes a big difference from my previous male dentist whose gigantic hands felt clumsy and awkward in comparison.

Dr. Kravets has been my dentist since 2005. At that time, I had serious decay and gum issues, including bone loss. After assessing my needs, she reviewed my insurance and set a multi year plan of filings, root canals, crowns. even an implant. Work done expertly with and attention to my comfort. Now my oral health is now so much better and I have a wonderful smile again.
Gentle Dental is constantly modernizing its equipment. I have referred a number of friends and most now are patients of GD. I highly recommended the staff of Gentle Dental.

I have been a loyal patient of Dr. Kravitz at Gental Dental for over 12 years now. I appreciate all the skillful work that Dr. Kravitz has done to save my teeth and to help me with my dental phobia. I also appreciate that she accepted my insurance and when the insurance couldn’t fully cover the cost of treatment, that she would give me a discount. I always paid my bills on time and showed up for my appointments.
My insurance changed earlier this year and when I informed the receptionist at Gental Dental three months ago, I got an abrupt «we don’t take that insurance». I have been having a problem with a tooth that Dr. Kravitz did a root canal on previously, and I asked to speak to Dr. Kravitz. I was informed that she would call me back. Dr. Kravitz never called me back. I have left over six messages now for her to call me over the last 3 months and she has never called me back. I even asked a friend of mine who is also a patient of Dr. Kravitz and had an appointment with Dr. Kravitz to ask her to call me back, and she never did. I am very angry and surprised with this treatment.

Dr. Goldman is great. She did a great job on my husband’s and my teeth. I’ve been there a few times and the people there are pretty nice.

If this practice was not already called Gentle Dental it could be called «Gentle, Thorough, Caring, Expert Dental», but that might be too long.
I first went to see Dr. Goldman about a Dental Implant — after a curious X-​ray she referred me to best Oral Surgeon in NYC — but more importantly she stayed very connected to me and my case while I anxiously waited results of an MRI. The good news is my medical issue is resolved and Dr. Goldman is replacing my tooth. The best news is that because of Dr. Goldman’s expertise I received world-​class care under her supervisor and felt her involvement and concern every step-​of-​the-​way!
If your looking for a great Dentist. Stop looking you’ve found one at Gentle Dental.

STAY AWAY.
Dr. Goldman gave me a filling about 2 months ago and ever since then it hurts when I eat.
I went in after a week of discomfort and was told that I need to start using prescription toothpaste… And then she proceeded to rub something over the tooth.
This did not fix the problem. I went back in and she told me that I had «nerve trauma» due to tooth grinding. She told me to wear a mouth guard and to come back in a few weeks.
It continued to hurt, I called her office and was told to go to a specialist all the way in Brighton Beach. She claims that there are no other specialists in all of New York City…
She was very eager to push an overpriced mouth guard on me, and did not shy away from accepting my money. As soon as a problem arose that she caused, she didn’t want to know.
In short, my tooth was fine until she laid her hands on it. She is short, impatient, and a crappy dentist.
Stay well away.
Dr. Szell could do a better job.

This place is fine for cleanings in the neighborhood, but that’s about it.
Pros: I always found the dentist, hygienist and receptionist to be nice. Cleanings were fine.
Cons: I feel as though they sell patients on expensive treatments that aren’t needed, provided that the patients have insurance.
As soon as I started going here, they told me I needed things like «deep cleanings» and bite guards. I had never had any such things before, but I got them because I figured I must need them.
Apparently I needed them repeatedly, which never made much sense to me, because my teeth aren’t bad.
Once I switched dentists to one in Midtown, I suddenly didn’t need any of these things. And my teeth are still fine.

I recently moved here and was looking for a new dentist. I saw this practice had great reviews on Unilocal,so I called them up to make an appointment.
The woman I spoke with immediately asked what insurance I had (to be expected of course) but then asked for the billing address and phone number. I said I would look for it and would she like to take down my name and information while I was looking for it? Her response? «No, I want that information first.» Her tone of voice was really off putting.
As a new patient, I’ll keep looking around. Beware!

I’ve been going to Gentle Dental ever since I moved to Brooklyn five years ago. The dentists and hygienists have been professional, very skilled, and great at explaining their procedures and recommendations. They’re very good at navigating insurance issues — I’d had to change coverage and they were great at smoothing the transition.
I’ve been very happy and recommend them highly.
The only problem is that they seem to schedule badly as I usually wait 40 min or more beyond the scheduled time.

I couldn’t ask for a better dental staff. They’re so patient with me and their services are outstanding! My whole family goes to see Dr. H for all treatments– checkups, teeth cleaning, invisalign, oral surgery, and more. Everyone on board is very skilled and I get grade A service. I’m used to doctors visits to be brief, receptionists are fairly cold, and questions unanswered– Not here! Dr. Herskovitz is so patient with me, and answers all my questions. He takes the time to explain everything and has given me excellent advice on keeping up my oral hygiene.
Two notable times at this office– Teeth cleaning and oral surgery. I traveled from Astoria to Park Slope just to have these treatments. The hygienist (forgot her name, but she’s Russian) did the best job. I had pretty bad gingivitis, and after doing the job she told me how to take better care once I leave the office. At the follow up, her advice worked and my gums were so much better, she was so proud of me! I was dreading oral surgery (needle-​phobe) but my brother (also a needle-​phobe) told me he didn’t worry about a thing at Gentle Dental. I bit the bullet, and scheduled my appt. Couldn’t have asked for anything better! Didn’t feel a thing, and it went so smoothly, I literally asked when it was over «That’s it??»
They’re true to their name– For all who fear dentists and hate going to doctors in general, this is the place to go. Honestly, super gentle in every way… Trust me, I live far from home now, and I refuse to see a dentist in my current location. I wait to go back to NYC to schedule my appt with Dr. H!!!

Dr. Kravets and her staff are class acts. When we lived in Brooklyn we were so happy to find this office, and recommended it to our friends. The cleanings are truly gentle, but also thorough, especially if Dr. Kravets does them.
We did run into an issue with root canals where there was some misalignment on the caps, but we had already moved to San Fran by the time we discovered it. The office was extremely professional and handled everything to our satisfaction.
Final note — Erika, who handles the admin function, is very nice. Makes it pleasant coming in.

I wish I could give this place a below zero rating. This was the WORST dental experience I have ever had. Worse than any thing I could have imagined. It was almost a joke. I am not even going to get into great detail. I will implore you to go to any dentist beside this place. You’d be better off doing your dental work yourself.
They performed what I believe was an unnecessary «emergency root canal.» I was still feeling pain and extreme sensitivity months after, so they sawed the cap off and did the whole thing again, without going into see if they had filled all the roots, or if there was an infection. The rushed everything and never explained anything. It’s been a year now and the 2 fillings they did, POORLY, had to be done again by a much better dentist at GARDEN DENTAL. The new dentist also informed me that I will have to get that root canal done AGAIN, because there is a root that was not removed and the cap Gentle Dental put on does not fit my toot properly.
It was HORRIBLE. In addition to the terrible work they did, the hygienist stank like cigarettes and the dentist was condescending, dismissive and alway rushed.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!
It cost me thousands of dollars and I have to get all the work done over again. I wish I could sue.

Gentle Dental Associates lives up to its name. I’m new to Brooklyn and looking for a new dentist for a cleaning and exam. The processes were painless and efficient. Really good communication throughout both the cleaning and exam — which is important for a calm experience. Recommended — this is now my dentist!

I would like to start by saying that I’ve never given 1 star to ANY establishment.
They are frauds – seriously bordering on malpractice. They push Arestin injections like drug dealers, and they give you a discount if you pay in cash. What kind of back-​alley operation are they running? I went there for a routine cleaning, and they convinced me that I needed to have my gums scaled. I’ve never had any issues prior, but I believed them because they’re medical professionals. They then told me that I needed 8 arestin injections at $ 50 a piece. I believed them, again, because you assume a medical professional won’t lie to you. WRONG.
I went to another dentist this year and he was perplexed and shock that I had all of this periodontal work done. He said it was unnecessary. $ 400, down the drain. I’m seriously considering reporting them to Shame On You.
Oh, and the dentist is incredibly rude.

I’m shocked that people have had bad experiences here. I mean, I have pretty healthy teeth, so my appointments are usually a breeze, but I’ve been going here for about 4 years now, and I have no complaints. I moved from Brooklyn to Astoria and still use them, as it’s worth a long subway ride twice a year to know that my dentist doesn’t suck.
I’ve seen both dentists (Goldman and Kravets) and have had good experiences with both. I had 3 cavities at one point, and they told me honestly that if I was worried about paying for fillings, only one of them was deep, and I could theoretically wait to do the others (but I got them all filled because, I dunno, YOLO?). Makes me feel like they weren’t trying to pressure me into unnecessary dental work. I was nervous about getting my face drilled, but it was totally fine.

I have been here a few times and I have to say that the main dentist is a lovely woman.
She is friendly and I trust her opinion.

The main thing to know about my dentist (Goldman): I had the most painless root canal EVER here. There was no swelling, I didn’t need painkillers, and I even went back to work after each step of the root canal process. I also went to a different dentist to confirm my need for several fillings (shameful, yes), and he complimented the crown put in over my root canal.
Since I have needed a lot fixed this past year, I got to know the staff very well, and they are a friendly bunch of people. You get some maternal chastising for not taking care of your teeth, which works more or less for different people. I highly recommend this Gentle Dental!

THEY PUSH ARESTIN SHOTS LIKE A DRUG PUSHER ON THE STREET!
I stopped going here. My fiancé had three cavities in her front teeth that were irritating her and the doctor there said that it was not cavities but imperfect teeth coloration.
They also push Arrestin at $ 20– or $ 25 a shot. The first two times I went there for a deep clean they pushed 8 of these shots on me and that’s when I said no. Its as if the hygienists are there to pad the invoice for this place.
I really don’t mean this to be funny either, but here is an animated discussion about arestin being a great racket for dentists and hygienists but not needed in most cases except for when you have a serious abcess. Yet the hygienist at Gentle Dental will push it all day long. As if everyone needs it.

STAY AWAY. Seriously, stay away. I have to say this… they certainly understand the flaws of our healthcare system… providers get paid per procedure, not based on appropriate utilization of services.
I’ve been to many dentists in my life. This was by far the creepiest practice. The hygienist smelled like cigarettes… wait, let me clarify… she smelled like an ashtray. I tried not to gag every time she came near me. She «cleaned» my teeth in record speed… think 10 min total — and it was the most painful cleaning I’ve ever had. Her hands were large and clumsy… blood everywhere.
To put this in proper context, I should explain that I have always been anal about my teeth… I brush twice a day, floss nearly every day, and actually enjoy going to see the dentist because I like my teeth to feel squeaky clean afterwards. And because of this, my regular visits to the dentist are always painless. Oh, but not this time…
After butchering my gums/​teeth, the ashtray-​smelling hygienist came back into the room with a brochure in hand about periodontal disease… and then told me that while i DON’T have it, I «need» to come back for two sessions of deep cleaning «just to be sure you don’t get get it.» She then clarified that this is only if my insurance will approve and cover it.
Then came in Dr. Goldman. She told me the same thing… that I need to get the deep cleaning/​scaling procedure that requires two visits… once again, ONLY if my insurance covers it. She was full of contradictions and could not engage in a coherent discussion about my teeth.
After this visit, I compared notes with a friend of mine, who also went to see this Dr. Goldman at Gentle Dental not too long ago… she had the same exact experience… the brochure, speech about insurance approval, etc. SHADY!
