Good Guys Auto Alarm & Stereo

Needed to do some minor electrical work. Dropped off the car at lunch time — picked it up in the afternoon. Lewis was handling the work. The price turned out to be very reasonable. Great location too in the vicinity of Park/​South Slope /​Gowanus. Will definitely come back here again when I need major electrical work done.

Their name says it all. I came in the shop today. My left blinker in my ML350 stopped working. Another shop wanted 100 just to hook it up to a machine and then charge me to fix it. The team at Good Guys were right on it. Popped the hood, started checking fuses and with in 1 hr I was back on the road, they even fixed my fog light as well. This father and son team is the best. Honest, smiles and didn’t hesitate to answer all the questions I had about what was going on with the car wiring. I will be back for more work in the near future! If you need car electrical work… go to them.

These guys are the ‘good guys’ for a reason. They are completely professional, efficient and affordable. A place like this is a diamond in the rough. I had my alarm pager system installed and a touch screen DVD/​Bluetooth unit installed as well. Luis and his crew are awesome at what they do and I highly recommend them. I went to Good Guys this morning because one of my HID headlights was not working. They took me right in without an appointment, and immediately began working on the HID ballast to see what the issue was. They then installed a new ballast and had the headlight working again in less than 20 minutes! They also helped me put on a new hood emblem that I had bought, at no extra charge! These guys are quick, friendly, reasonably priced and most importantly, know what they are doing. Thank you Luis, I will definitely be back!

I wanted a GPS tracker installed on my car, he wasn’t the cheapest — paid $ 150, but he was detailed, worked for a couple of hours setting all the options and helping me with a minor issue I had with my stereo.
He also give a installation warranty for one year, so I know he stands behind his work.

Great Shop. I was having problems with my stereo speakers cutting out. I stopped by without an appointment. I was taken care of by Luis. He worked on the problem and charged a very reasonable fee. Shortly after I left, the problem came back. I came back to the shop, and Luis spent almost an hour dismantling my door and dash until the problem was fixed. When I asked how much, he told me I paid this morning, but clearly he did far more work than he charged me for. I would highly recommend Good Guys.

This place is a joke.
I came to get an Auxillary line installed into my car stereo and within two weeks I threw the switch they installed and immediately heard a sizzling sound and then nothing worked. The CD player, the radio, even the cassette deck. All gone.
Came back with my receipt to get it fixed and got nothing but bullshit and excuses.
«Not our fault.»
So much for that year warranty. It’s not worth the toilet paper it’s printed on. The place is obnoxious, overpriced and incompetent. The guy who runs it is a scammer and an asshole. They stand behind nothing they do.
Go anywhere else.

My car was tinted at this shop from Frank who used to work at the now closed Joe’s Auto Glass and Tint. Since he works out of a few different shops, it’s better to reach him on his cell at (646) 302‑5452. With the stellar reviews he had at Joe’s, I was confident that I was going to get quality tints installed on my car and I got just that with my ceramic tints. I can’t recommend him enough. The job is superb and the customer service was top notch. Thanks for your service Frank.

They are trying to bullshit you with prices. Be aware! Maybe its good quality but the prices are sucks. Make sure you ask them price before getting to work!

i went there because i saw the good reviews on Unilocal and i was so happy with the service !!! i took my Honda accord 2007 to change the original audio system to a nevi-​audio system and this guys was doing excellent job and was able to give me an internet prices or even cheaper. but the best thing about this place is that you feel this guy is honest and not trying to scam you like most places do !!!

My feedback is regarding pricing and communication, not the quality of the stereo installation (the installation was just done and it seems fine).
I called on 2 different occasions and provided details on my car year, make and model, and the simple 1-​din stereo I wanted installed. Both times I was quoted a price of $ 55, plus tax.
When I got there, they indicated that a wiring harness was «highly recommended» and they would not guarantee the work as much without it. They said it would cost $ 25.
I know that that is a huge mark-​up, and sure enough, a search on the web shows that the wiring harness should cost about $ 5. I also know that the harness simplifies the installation work, so it actually makes it easier for them.
So, they made a few extra bucks on me, but, in my mind, they sacrificed their integrity and their reputation. They should have raised the additional item when I was on the phone and I would have bought one in advance, at a much lower price.
They are nice guys, but they need to improve their communication (or everyone should know that the «quote» is not a full quote).

I have an old 1998 Toyota Sienna Minivan. Great for driving around Brooklyn, hauling groceries and items, and parking on the street (where bumps and dents are the norm). But after the electrical/​alarm system started acting up yesterday morning, causing the horn to go off for minutes at a time without my key overriding it, I knew something was wrong. Further compounding the issue was that the car was not starting at all. Uh-​oh.
Luckily, I was recommend to Good Guys by another reputable, local garage (Minhs). They told me that Good Guys would be better equipped to deal with what seemed like an electrical problem, and sure enough, they were.
One quick tow truck drive later, and my car was safely at Good Guys. The mechanic (Luis) said he could fix it immediately while I waited, and explained everything as he worked. Two new car battery terminals later (the old ones were corroded and not transferring power anymore) and I was on my way.
Good Guys identified and fixed the problem quickly, with no extra hassle or run around. I also appreciated the fact that I could be right there while Luis fixed it, watching and learning. It was a quick repair, but one that could have involved much more time and wasted effort if not properly diagnosed by a knowledgeable person.
Now, on to the next issue… does my min-​van need sub-​woofers? ;)
