I heard about GSS when I was searching for a new work studio in Brooklyn. It was the beat deal for the price: facilities for printing, woodshop, private studios or storage spaces… Plus, everyone who is a member is a actively working artist or designer. There was a sense of community that none of the other studio buildings I tried had.
I left my old studio setup as soon as I could and joined a year and a half ago. Best decision I have made in recent memory!

Love this studio space! Apparently they also rent out the space for private parties as well. I came to a party here, so I can’t yet comment on the actual artwork. But the facility is perfect for a dance party once cleared out. I did wander around and see all the printing equipment and projects in the making which I though was pretty amazing. I will come back for an art show or the such soon and update my review.

printmaking of any sort, woodworking, furniture design, etc etc
a work in progress for those who want to become part of an arts community and bring their dreams and talents to the table. Going good and bound to get better.

This space has fantastic programming and does great printing. I love visiting and I hear from current members that as far as NYC studio space goes, it’s tops. They also offer printing classes, which I someday hope to take advantage of and review.

This is the space that I have always dreamed of– affordable access to amazing facilities (print shop, wood shop, fabrication) and most of all the company of artists and designers from all types of disciplines. I am have tried all types of mediums that I would have not normally tried. The people are one of the best parts. Good energy is abound!
