I called last minute for grooming my 2yr old female ragdoll cat. I got an appointment the same day. Staff was great :)They take the time to listen to my specific grooming instructions and nail it every time! Staff is very friendly and clearly love what they do. It is a pleasant experience every time. They are truly gifted with the care of animals. My cat looks great with room to grow. She even got a cute complimentary scarf!

I made an appointment for my cat, and when I showed up, they said the cat groomer wasn’t in that day.
For an appointment! I paid for a cab ride and everything. Unacceptable.

I’ve been coming here for years, bought both my dogs here plus my boyfriends dogs, once Danny left the service declined, Evan is horrible at grooming my dog always comes back with cuts and nicks and they keep raising the prices for Mediocre grooming, After my experience today I will no longer be going there the rude $@)(@ at the front desk kept insisting my dog was matted i took offense to that because even when he has a lot of hair he is NEVER matter I love my dog and his daily brushing is part of our bonding time, I kept telling her show me where he matted and she couldn’t show me it was just a ploy to get more money, I will take my dog elsewhere, sorry for the owner cause he’s a nice Guy but his employees don’t care about the business she just passed my back my dog and politely told me to leave

Took my male cat here for grooming and clipping. It was the first time I have ever done that for a pet. The staff could not have been more wonderful and caring. I will go back again and again. They take such good care of my little dude, and I am close by, I won’t even consider going anywhere else.

I brought my male cat in for a nail clip… he will NOT let me even attempt to do it at home. The gals were super kind and warm when I arrived. The groomer was really quick and did a really great job and said he was «awesome». He was calm and happy and that’s all I can ask for. Also it was super affordable unlike other crooks and services at various Vets in the neighborhood. I cannot attest to dog grooming here, but for my needs, I will definitely be returning.

I really like this place. I take KitKat for a Lion Cut and they take good care of her here. oh and in case you were wondering, KitKat is Cat!!!

this place is amazing and never disappoints they did such a creative unique cut for my toy poodle I was very pleased and the staff is extremely polite and professional, not to mention this place is super cheap compared to other pet groomers and the quality of their work is superb!

It’s hard to find a groomer who does kitty haircuts, but this place was happy to take to my long-​haired persian cat who needs bi-​annual cuts! Not only was she ready to be picked up in less than 2.5 hours, but she looked AMAZING and smelled good too. Seriously, this was the best lion cut I’ve ever seen on my cat. So impressed and a very reasonable price!

I love the cheap prices here but I guess you get what you pay for. I just got my dog home from a grooming and he has a bloody paw from his nails being cut too short. I called to complain and they told me to put «dry soap» on it. They also said I could bring my pup back and they would do it for me. They did not apologize and the woman on the phone acted like this was a normal sort of complaint for them. I will not be going back.

Alas, I have to say that taking our little Lucy, a 6.5 lb toy poodle, to this place ruined our day. We walked in and asked for a basic face trim, as Lucy is blind in one eye and needs to keep her hair out of her eyes, if she can hope to see much. The lady at the front desk did not seem very interested in Lucy or the other dog there. They have a sign on the counter that reads «please do do put your pet here». I missed it, but she quickly pointed it out. I was a bit confused– why would a pet groomer fail to offer a place where one could rest her dog, while explaining the desired service? When the woman told us to come back in 15 minutes, I thought– great, this is going to be fine. Boy– was I wrong. When we came back, she greeted us with, «You know your dog is very bad.» This shocked us! Lucy is a super-​sweet and friendly old girl– no one has ever said anything of the sort about her. The front desk person and the groomer claimed that Lucy tried to bite them and was screaming when they tried to clip her hair. This is crazy for a number of reasons 1) Lucy almost never makes a sound, 2) Lucy has about 4 front teeth, which are all very blunt, and 3) Lucy has been groomed before by a friend who has no training and by a professional, both of whom found her very easy to groom. I was there for the friend’s grooming session and while she struggled a little, she was relatively calm and cooperative. I don’t know what these folks did to Lucy, but she still had almost all of the hair with which she arrived. I offered to help contain her and the groomer agreed that that might help. When I tried to go back to the grooming area both he and the front desk person threw a fit– and told me to hold Lucy in mid-​air on one side of the counter, while he stood on the other. Then he took out a giant, sharp and scary set of scissors bigger than Lucy’s head and approached her with them. She did not make a sound, but I freaked out!!! I asked why he wasn’t using electric safety clippers, as my friend does, and he said that Lucy tried to bite when he tried! If this is how they are trying to groom pets– it would be no wonder if Lucy had behaved as they claimed. I got her out of there ASAP. And I swear one of her eyes is kind of red and irritated. I worry that that sorry excuse for a groomer poked her with his terrifying scissors! This place should be shut down! Do not go anywhere near it if you love you pet. Very scary– very, very bad!

Really bad grooming and bad customer service! I made an appointment at 11am but my Shih Tzu was not ready to be picked up until 3pm! Then, I was clear where I wanted my dog trimmed. His fur was not that long and I just wanted him washed and the fur trimmed from around his eyes and bum. Instead, they just shaved his entire body! They cut his nails so short that one of them bled. When I was shocked to see my shaved dog, the cashier tried to argue with me and accuse me of asking them to shave my dog. They also sprayed him with some smelly cologne that I think better fits some old guy with gold chains cruising the town for young girls. NEVER AGAIN!

I am a resident of BedStuy/​Clinton Hill and I love my neighborhood. I love the people, the restaurants, the businesses. I always try to support my hood! With that said, I made an effort one Saturday to do just that. I canceled my dog’s appointment with his usual groomer in the city and made an appt. with Paws & Claws. I was thrilled. It was so much cheaper… it was A BLOCK from my house… they had availability even though I called at the last minute… the stars were aligned… or so I thought.
Upon arrival, I smiled and greeted the woman at the front desk. She stared blankly at me. «We’re going to have to shave your dog» (* key info: my dog is a 10 lb. miniature poodle. He has 4 inches of GORGEOUS, always brushed, blond hair and damn it, no one is going to shave him. OKKK?)… I responded «but you haven’t even touched him yet.» and she retorts «I SEE HIM!»… I am a woman of the lawd, and I tried to maintain my composure and asked to speak with the groomer, even offering to double the price of the service if they would assure me that they would NOT cut off all of his hair… The groomer came out from the back … I will add, he was slightly nicer than his receptionist, and pet the dog. «Sorry miss, but Ill have to shave him»…
Obviously, like any sensible person, I high tailed it outta there! I called my USUAL groomer, and yes, I did pay $ 90 in Manhattan instead of $ 60 in Brooklyn, but she groomed my child, er… dog, with no complaints and now he’s looking as fly as ever.
I realize that this is NYC and not everyone smiles or even says «hi» when you arrive for a scheduled service… but to irrationally subject an animal to an unflattering, cold and embarrassing semi permanent hairstyle doesn’t seem the slightest bit professional.

I’ve been taking my dog here for about three years and even though I’ve since moved from the area, I still take her to these groomers.
The price is very reasonable (especially compared to the other places I’ve tried) and they always cut her hair the way I ask. There is one particular groomer who is better than the other, but overall, they both do a good job.
There’s one lady at the front desk who is not very friendly and seems frazzled when they’re busy, but I’ve seen less and less of her and the ladies who have replaced her are much more customer service oriented.

I find that they do a fine job with my Spanish Water Dog. You do have to be very specific when giving them instructions on how you want your dog but that is to be expected as all dog owners have their own preferences. The only downside is that there is a bit of a language barrier with one of the groomers. But, they do a good job and are very reasonably priced.
With that being said, while the corner of Grand and Putnam is not the best nor the prettiest in the neighborhood (and this is technically Bed Stuy not Clinton Hill) I think that this area is very safe. This is still the city and things happen everywhere but this is right by the new Putnam triangle seating area and by the cute bars and coffee shops that are very popular with a pretty yuppy and trendy crowd — definitely not a Ghetto.

A warning to cat-​owners — we brought our cat here for a full grooming, which includes nail clipping, and when we got him home a few of his nails were bloody. They had cut too short and gotten the quick, which is painful and can be dangerous as the bleeding is hard to stop. We called the vet and they said it happens a lot, but just want to share that this happened. The groomer was very nice though.

We have boarded our dog here several times and they have been great. On New Year’s Eve day they arranged for us to pick our dog up even though they weren’t open. Thanks!

I was actually trying to be light-​hearted in my response, but since you feel that I am being sensitive I might as well explain that I simply object to the use of the word «ghetto,» in this context, as it is derogatory. That’s all. I am not offended that you do not feel safe on this corner and I know about the crime in this area. I just caution against using the word ghetto in a review of a business on a website that focuses on neighborhoods. With respect, Just sayin’…
And as a follow-​up, I took my pooch there for a summer cut and they did a beautiful job and there was no confusion about the time for pick up. Good Job guys!

I also agree with Christine. Some of us do live here (my family has a beautiful brownstone right around here– and there are many gems in the hood). Grand Paws and Claws do a great job with grooming– and the staff is super friendly.
