I am writing this letter to document the events that proceeded on February 2, 2012 at Guaranteed Alarm and Car Stereo at 3029 Coney Island Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, 11 235. The said company deceived me for $ 946.16, blackmailed me by threatening to keep my vehicle, showed signs of physical aggression, and attempted to incriminate me by forcing me to sign fraudulent documents. An attorney and a police officer advised that I pay the outstanding balance and pursue this issue in court.
On Tuesday, January 31, 2012, I called Guaranteed Alarm and Car Stereo to discuss the installation of a video system in my vehicle. I spoke to the owner Esther Ikhilevsky, who originally told me a video system with two television sets would cost six hundred dollars to purchase and install. After discussing further details over the phone, I agreed to come in and pay. When I arrived to pay $ 600.00 for their services, Ms. Ikhilevsky immediately and without warning charged my credit card nine hundred and seventy-​nine dollars and eighty-​seven cents ($ 979.87). I questioned the impulsive increase. Ms. Ikhilevsky told me that because I inquired about a better system, she took initiative and purchased a more expensive video system. Immediately, I felt that I was low-​balled over the phone. I was not opposed to the idea of a better system, but I wanted to see what I was purchasing before the product was bought. Ms. Ikhilevsky showed me what I unwillingly already purchased for $ 379.87 more than was agreed. I was told to come back in two days when the system arrives from California. I came back on Thursday, February 2, 2012, to drop off my vehicle to begin installation. I was told to come back in several hours and the vehicle would be ready. I came there in the evening at 6:00 pm to pick up my vehicle. According to my discussion with Ms. Ikhilevsky, I was originally told that the system would work through an Ipad. After the system was installed, I asked if it was working as discussed. Ms. Ikhilevsky said it was impossible to set up the system like that, contradicting what she told me earlier. I spoke to the employee/​installer, who told me that it would be possible to set up the system via an Ipad, but he did not have enough time. Ms. Ikhilevsky verified her employee’s statement and she told me to come back next week to finish the work originally agreed upon. I agreed to come back next week and finish the installation. The receipt that Ms. Ikhilevsky wrote provides evidence that the work was not finished, stating, «Ipad needs to be rewired.» Aside for the Ipad system not working properly, there were a few quirks that I was dissatisfied about. One of these quirks was that the DVD system only played video throughout the vehicle if the DVD was inserted into the passenger’s side rear seat DVD player. After a few discrepancies about unsatisfactory work, the employee gave me the car keys and I was ready to pull out of the garage. As I was pulling out, the garage door started to close on my vehicle. The employee told me to go upstairs to the office and pay the open balance. I told him that I paid in full and he was mistaken. Figuring that it was just an error, I left my car running, anticipating being in-​and-​out of the office. When I went upstairs to speak with Ms. Ikhilevsky, I was told that I owe and additional five hundred sixty-​six dollar and twenty-​nine cents ($ 566.29). As of this point, I am being charged an additional $ 946.16 from the original agreed price of six hundred dollars ($ 600.00). I started making my case with Ms. Ikhilevsky, telling her that the agreement was for $ 600.00, even though I already paid over nine hundred dollars. When I refused to pay the new inexplicable sum, Ms. Ikhilevsky responded very loudly and obnoxiously, overshadowing anything that I tried to say. She made a bold and fictitious statement that I agreed to pay $ 1,500 plus tax. I never agreed, and would never agree, to install a video system in my vehicle for almost two thousand dollars. After Ms. Ikhilevsky diatribe, I was finally able to tell her I do not want the system for that sum. Sensing that this conversation would be a prolonged one, I excused myself to shut off my running vehicle downstairs. When I came downstairs, the employee who installed the system was guarding my vehicle. This rude and ferocious man refused to let me into my car. He cursed and yelled at me in a very crude and aggressive manner. I felt intimidated and physically threatened as this man yelled and cursed at me. In order to avoid confrontation, I left my vehicle running and I went back upstairs to speak to Ms. Ikhilevsky. I told Ms. Ikhilevsky that I will not pay the $ 1,800 sum, but I was willing to pay $ 200.00 for the labor for installation of the system and the time required to remove it.
