I could live off their guacamole and spicy margaritas alone. The couple of vegetarian taco options they have are just ok but the vegetarian burrito is large and filling(and has kale!). I love that it is never too crowded and is a fun place to bring a group on short notice.

Best tacos I have had in a long time. The chips and salsas are great as a starter with 4 or 5 different options that were very varied in flavor. I would recommend just about everything on the menu. It’s a small menu and each item is clearly well thought out and put together. Favorites include the black bean soup, flank steak taco, tomato-habenero salsa, and for a fun twist the fried chicken and Mac and cheese taco. Also of note, the cocktails are pretty great too. I’ve had the Margherita, mojito, and spiced whiskey sour. Whiskey sour was especially good. The service was decent and they have a pretty friendly staff, although they may be somewhat understaffed at times. Overall, I love this place and highly recommend it.

Brunch review– for me, Hoja Santa provided a perfectly serviceable but relatively unexciting brunch. Take the omelettes– I ordered the veggie one which came with corn, kale, and zucchini, and a small side salad. The whole thing felt unloved, desperately in need of both salt and some kind of carb(turns out Hoja doesn’t have bread — but our kind waiter sweetly delivered some corn tortillas). I felt the same way about the huevos rancheros which were beautiful looking but lacking a punch. Despite the somewhat bland food, the service was exceptional — the waitstaff is lovely and sweet, accommodating and genuinely nice.

This place is great! The al pastor tacos with the roasted pineapple are a definitely must-get, the flavor is amazing and the portion size is pretty decent. I’m not a vegetarian, but sometimes swing that way, so I was excited to see how many creative veggie options were on the menu as well(the brussels sprout tacos were delicious!). Hoja Santa has a cool vibe, great food and BIG margaritas, which are all my prerequisites for an awesome Mexican place. Best part for me: The plantains! I usually avoid them at most places in the US because I get so sad when they’re either served swimming in a vat of cheese sauce or so greasy that they’re basically a soup. Hoja Santa cooks them perfectly, and I now have a place to get my plantain fix!

Stopped in here for dinner one evening while staying in Fort Greene. Very festive and friendly. I had the brussel sprout tacos which were spicy and messy, but very good. Also tried the lentil/chard empanadas which came with a goat cheese dipping sauce. They were very good and earthy, although very chard-y, so don’t order them if you are not a fan. Great chips, okay salsa. We had the ranchera, probably should’ve ordered something a little more interesting.

Unilocal claims this is a great fish taco option in Brooklyn. I wish I could rate the food but couldn’t get past the service upon entering. The atmosphere seemed nice, the bartender/server asked if we wanted a table. When I told him we were picking up takeout he rolled his eyes. My son hadn’t called in the order yet so we decided to have a drink at the bar. The bartender continued to give us attitude so I called him out on why he didn’t like take out orders to which he replied he didn’t get tipped on takeout. His attitude was so negative we walked out. We’ve had so many great experiences eating out in Brooklyn, this was our worse. This server needs an attitude adjustment. Maybe this guy was new or had a bad day, but there are too many great restaurants in the area to put up with this nonsense. PS. Unilocal claims his resturant features pickup and delivery… apparently not! Sent from my iPad

Came here for brunch one Sunday and it was surprisingly empty. The food was good and the staff was friendly. I wouldn’t say this is the best ever, I wasn’t really impressed.

We love this place and literally order or visit weekly. Tacos are consistently delicious, bacon guac is a hit and recently we have loved ordering the deviled eggs or quesadillas. The pork burrito is insanely good an is enough for two people. When we visit we live the spicy margarita. Praying these guys get their outdoor license back so we can sit out front again.

Brunch here is fantastic! I always get the breakfast burrito but I’m sure the rest of the menu is great too. The unlimited drinks deal is a steal. The waitress and bartender, who knows how to make a mean Bloody Mary, are both super friendly and on top of their game. Great way to spend a lazy weekend afternoon.

Went there today for brunch… i had the fried chicken, mac n cheese n collard greens tacos. they were pretty tasty… i had a mango margarita that wasnt to my luke but it was pretty strong. it’s one of those spots I could go without stepping foot in again as I wasnt really impressed. but if you’re in the area looking for moderately priced food I guess you can check them out…

This is cute place serving up Latin fare and as can be expected, margaritas in Fort Greene. Much like the other places I’ve yet to try, i didn’t get to try the food but i can tell you about the drinks that’s available. They have a well-stocked full bar although I specifically came here for margaritas during happy hour. Of course, i had to have a few just to get a good feel. They were refreshing however not otherworldly. Service is quite friendly and I’d imagine this would be a good lunch/brunch spot based on the offerings available. It was buzzing here on a Thursday evening despite the warmer weather that’s arrived. Bingo on a Tuesday is advertised everywhere and I’m not quite sure what to make of this, whether it be a geriatrics night out or what not.

Went for the 2nd time on this years Cinco de Mayo. The first they were def not as busy, this time they ran out of plates and were asking us to combine or took them as soon as they became empty. Guacamole although small is delish! Salsa verde, pico de gallo and sikil pak are also fresh and delish! Chips are thicker tortillas that hold up well to any dips. Elote had super sweet corn but toppings could have been a little more flavorful. Plantains are a nice side. Tacos: Brussel sprouts is the best, short rib lacked flavor and is served in a hard taco, steak was tough and bland, fried chicken is a bit much. I would always come back for the guac and dips but prob not the tacos.

First and foremost, I downloaded this app so that I could give this restaurant a 5 star rating! The service was fantastic, prompt and very very polite. Quite honestly the only aspect of this place that was better was the food itself. I came for brunch during a brisk snowy winter Sunday. We first got the bacon guacamole, nuff said. Then came some carnitas tacos, not sure if I can have them anywhere else now! The finally was the huevos rancheros, which I could finish because the portions are so generous, made the meal for me! I plan to come here all the time! Either by myself, with my boyfriend, or just collecting random people I meet on the street. I wish I could give them a 10 star rating!
