I tired this place for the first time. The location is nice and the Lobster taste good.

I love this place. But I’ve never eaten the restaurant’s food alone. Let me explain. Howong Seafood is great for large party dinners and they are one of the few restaurants that allows you to bring in your own seafood. So for a few company parties, my coworkers bought fresh seafood from 8th avenue Chinatown. The restaurant will clean and cook the seafood for you. To compensate them for using their kitchen and chef, we had to order 5 – 7 large restaurant dishes plus pay a large tip. FOOD All of the food was delicious, fresh and amazing. We’ve had the gigantic steamed oysters with XO sauce, Cantonese style lobsters, Alaskan King crab legs, and Alaskan king crab head cooked with glass noodles. We devoured crispy creamy Mayo shrimp with crunchy walnuts, crispy Cantonese fried chicken, sautéed spare ribs with bean curd, and wok fried tender beef cubes with pepper and onions. We picked at the steamed Shanghai bok choy with pork bones. On another occasion we had the steamed steamed Dungeness crab, scallops on a shell, salmon sashimi, sashimi Geoduck, steamed oysters with black bean sauce, Cantonese fried lobster, and sweet and sour pork chops. All the dishes were delicious. My favorites were the Alaskan King Crab and steamed oyster. The Alaskan King crab head was so sweet and briny and the al dente glass noodles soaked up all the crab juices. I loved it. So did the 7 year old next to me that was licking her plate. I am a huge fan of the steamed King crab legs in garlic sauce. They taste so soft, sweet and tender compared to the frozen rubbery King Crab legs from the AYCE buffets. And the plump meaty steamed oysters with black bean sauce was wonderful. I had mine and was greedily eyeing a leftover oyster. Some of these dishes were some of the best Chinese banquet style seafood dishes that I’ve ever had. Service was the best that I’ve ever had in a Chinese restaurant. The servers gave us individual plates for all the lobster and scallop shells. They changed the plates very frequently and gave us warm hand towels to wipe our hands. There was no attitude. Probably because we were such a large party. I would definitely come back under these circumstances.

Why there are so little reviews since this place has been around forever? The dim sum are okay, but I’d rather them being steamed and served in the bamboo steamer instead of metal ones. I don’t like metal! The dishes here are totally Americanized.

Decent dim sum at this restaurant. We went in early Sunday morning in a large group. I believe we chose this restaurant because it was close and it’s a large enough restaurant to accommodate our large group of people. Quality of food was good. Portion size was good. But I think I only saw maybe 3 or 4 different types of carts. I haven’t been to dim sum in awhile and was hoping I could order a larger variety but I had trouble remembering what else I used to eat when growing up because I didn’t have anything to look at to jog my memory. Overall it was a good place for a quick dim sum fix.

2.-2.5-star restaurant. I’ve visited this place a couple of times on my way home for work. I’ve tried their pork slices over rice, duck over rice, steak Asian style, and their pork chops Asian style? The latter was probably their best dish although somewhat expensive. I did not receive any rice with it either; pretty sure it comes with rice normally. Irregardless of this fact, the food okay but its more fat/skin than meat. My last time I was there, they completely forgot about my order and was waiting for 30+ mins. A mediocre Asian restaurant whose ability to strive is based off no competition in the area.

My siblings and I decided take our mom out for Mother’s Day and of course we expected it to be busy however I must say this is the worst service I have ever encountered. It took them 20 mins to give us a menu and that’s because we had to ask for it. Then once we have ordered, an hour has passed and still we have not received one dish while others that have sat down after us have already received a few dishes on their table already. After speaking to the waiter a few times not once have they apologized for the wait and once we got really annoyed that there were still no dishes we asked for the check and they refused to give us the check stating that the food was coming and yet 20 mins later still no results. Then when finally something came out it was the wrong dish. And soup is usually the first thing that comes out and they got that wrong too! They obviously don’t know how to handle busy!

Despite the fact that it is Mother’s Day, this place was very poorly serviced! Waiters are inattentive, didn’t give us a menu when we were seated, and when our order was placed, the food did not arrive for over an hour and change. When we asked about the food, they told us we would get it really soon but no food came. Other tables who came way after us got their food before us. We no longer wanted to eat at the restaurant and we asked for the check. That was when they decided to try to get us our food in a speedier manner. However, the«speedier service» was almost all incorrect and we had to send the incorrect food to get the correct order. By this time, we were already infuriated with the service. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone!

This place has an unfair business practice of giving you bad cuts of roasted meats. Sometimes it feels like you’re just paying for bones and fat when what you really want is MEAT. I’m paying them actual, hard earned cash for garbage. Not monpoly money. I should expect to receive a product that is equivalent of value, right? WRONG, these guys put the Chinese people to shame. Obviously customer satisfaction and integrity are foreign to their set of business ethics(and maybe even their principles in general). They’re a monopoly in the neighborhood so consumers are powerless unless they feel like walking an extra mile to 86th Street(cheaper and better) for authentic Chinese food(not that Americanized«Chinese» take-out crap, you can’t eat that on a daily basis). AVOID if possible. I sincerely hope this place gets closed down by the Health Department and the owner fined. Oh the thought sweet justice. P. S. — Those that are praising this place’s dim sum are seriously mental. That’s always been a problem with Unilocal. There’s no established standards/grading criteria. Any imbecile with access to the Internet can write a review. Anything would be «great» if all you’ve had your entire life was garbage.

This restaurants been in the area for many years. The food is pretty decent. Better than most chinese restaurants around the area. Some places are way too oily or gives u really little portion. My fam order take out for dinner from here every now and then. Their salt and pepper fried pork chop is very good. Nice batter and crispy. The shrimp walnuts w broccoli is good, «bah wong» chicken is also good. Ive had their dim sum a few times and i think it was decent.

I rarely get to try any restaurants in Brooklyn, and today I was satisfied with the mister’s choice. We had fish maw soup, slight bland though. Then our 3 entrees came and they were delicious. Crispy chicken in garlic sauce, snow peas in garlic sauce and salt and pepper pork chops. The skin on the chicken was super crispy all the way to the last piece, the snow peas were tasty with just enough flavor, and the tempura on the salt and pepper pork chops was very flavorful. Gosh I’m still drooling. Servers were very attentive, restaurant was clean and neat. Reasonable prices also.

I came here for dim sum on a Sunday and they were pretty packed. There are two floors and we ended up sitting on the second floor because the first floor was full and the second floor had plenty of tables available. I have to say the dim sum was pretty terrible. It’s bad enough that we were seated on the second floor because the food doesn’t come to the second floor often enough and it lacked variety. There wasn’t much to eat. The turnip cake was super oily. The shrimp rice roll was so thick. The chicken feet were bland. After ordering a few dishes we had enough. I don’t recommend this place for dim sum. I don’t know how good their dinner is. Could be better or worse.

Dim sum portions were so BIG! The ha gow and siu mai looked like they were on steroids. I didnt like the rice noodles that much. They were so thick. Like all chinese resturants, it;s jsut your standard dim sum place. My family was able to get a table for 9 at their busiest time of the morning. There’s two floors. Warning: bathroom was very dirty and no toilet paper.

Arrived 6 pm Monday February 11, 2013 with a party of 7 for a Chinese New Year Dinner with reservation. We were greeted and seated immediately at the red table clothed table infront of the Dragon and Phoenix with Double Happiness symboled wall. I chose to place the order for everyone with one of the waiters and actually preferred some of his suggestions. Buddhist Delight Beancurd Springrolls… crispy and delicious Shrimp with Sesame Walnuts… good but, a tad too much Mayo Lambchops…very tender and flavorful with just enough sauce to coat Whole Crispy Fried Chicken. Warm, Crispy Skinned and delicious Chicken… it was a huge platterr full Twin Lobsters with Ginger Scallion sauce… absolutely a must have here… Filet of Flounder sauteed with Snow Peas… Very Good Sauteed Snow Pea Tips/Leaves with garlic… yummy Seafood Soup… very tasty but could have been a bit warmer Yang Chow Fried Rice… tons of everything with nice texture Shredded Chicken Lo Mein… Nice and Al Dente Overall, Very attentive staff and presentation I would highly recommend and return. Price is right and food is yummilicious
