Inn on Second

My husband and I just returned from our NY vacation and I can’t wait to let everyone know about this GREAT place to stay in Brooklyn (Gowanus/​Carroll Gardens area).
The Inn is a converted Brownstone with 2 upstairs rooms that share a bathroom. This place is perfect for a family of 4 or 2 couples that want to vacation together. Fran & Joe are the Innkeepers and have lived in this property for many years. They take pride in keeping the rooms clean and providing a welcoming environment for their guests.
Generous ammenities! For no additional charge, each room comes equipped with a mini-​fridge with drinks and snacks, coffee maker, computer, and bar accessories (glassware, openers, etc). There is ample space to ‘move in’ to a 5 high drawer and closet if you choose (we did!).
Location, location, location! The subway station is at the end of the block — you can be in Manhattan within 10 — 20 minutes. Also, the area is full of ‘foodie’ restaurants, pizza joints, bakeries, wine bars, mini-​marts, etc all within 2 — 8 blocks and easy to walk to.
In a nutshell, this place gets 5+ stars because it is VERY affordable — CLOSE to the subway — EASY walk to tons of food and bars.
We will definitely stay here again on our next NY vacation!

For our recent wedding, I was looking for an affordable but nice (but mostly affordable) place for my then-​fiancé to stay the night before the wedding and for me to join her on our wedding night. After an exhaustive online search, the best place I found was the Inn on Second, so we went together in person to scout it.
The owners were very happy to show us around their 19^th-​century brownstone on a quiet corner just down the block from the F train. When they heard that we were going to stay for our wedding night, they even offered to block out the inn’s other room to give us more privacy — who does something that thoughtful?
When my wife and I got back to the inn on our wedding night, we found the room spotlessly cleaned, and the two champagne flutes led us to find a small bottle of complimentary champagne in the fridge.
We know exactly where we’re spending our anniversaries now. We can’t imagine how this place could get any better.
From my new wife: My family, wedding party, and I also got dressed here the day of. They were so incredibly sweet, checking in on us and even provided some very lovely chilled white wine. I wish I had partaken, but I was just so excited. They were incredible and I really couldn’t have had a better or more warm experience.
