The rafters are packed with old school paraphernalia, but it’s not sad or old. In fact this retro-pub manages to seem both classic and modernly cool. On my visit, the energy was also nice. Friendly, joking, singing regulars. If I lived in the nabe, this would be a place I’d hang out.

omg am i really here? LMAO i ended up here cuz my friends friend forgot his ID to get into some spot across the street. well, it’s a bar. a very simple one at that. typical weird, but«done on purpose» that way décor and people in there that id normally not chill with. aside from all that, great pre-game spot. nobody bothers you, bartender is mad cool, and the price? RIDICULOUSLYCHEAP!

Some people like whiskey, some people like rum, others like fruity drinks, and many more will drink whatever they can get. I think the same can be said about bars, especially a place like J.J. Bubbles. It’s like a well worn pair of shoes. Is it the nicest? no. Does it have the best crowd? No idea, there wasn’t much of a crowd when I was there. Can you drink a beer and have a conversation w/friends? Yup. I drank a beer with a statue of St. Patrick watching over me. The jukebox hasn’t been updated in maybe 10 years, and I’m okay with that. There’s a bunch of random old stuff strewn about that look like they might’ve been random new stuff strewn about when they opened the place back in the ’70’s. I’m a fan. I’ll definitely go back and add it to whatever bar crawl through the area I may end up on.

Though the«regular» crowd at J J Bubbles may be on the older side(esp. compared to the majority of bars in Bay Ridge where the median age is 18), I must say it is among my favorite bars in the area. A comfortable, friendly atmosphere coupled with cheap drinks always makes for a great time. A real pub where you can get down to the business of getting down.

Werewolves are an understatement! Another spot on the pub crawl, thank god my crew felt safe in numbers. I dont know it just creeped me out quite a bit and after the Mooney’s incident I wanted a normal bar, this was NOT it. We did one round fast and saw the werewolves howling to Rod Stewart tunes we were locked and loaded with a silver bullet arsenal and went out single file. WHEW!!!

I’m surprised to see such raves for this bar. There’s always the same three old guys sitting at the bar. I honestly have no idea how this place has stayed in business so long. I like the werewolf reference it’s the perfect way to describe this desolate bar.

This is one of my favorite places. It truly defines what a true pub is all about. The music(jukebox) will not deafen you, the bar tenders are very generous with buy backs, drinks are priced well, and they have a dart board! The owner is a wonderful person who is frequently around greeting the regular patrons. The bar has a cozy feel, and the people are quite nice as well. I can not wait to spend many of my cold winter evenings after work at this cozy place. If you hate trendy, and like resting your glass on a worn, seasoned wood bar and not some aluminum or glowing neon glass surface, this is the place for you.

My friend calls this a «werewolf» bar. When the moon is full, all the old regulars turn into werewolves and kill everyone. Not far from the truth, I actually was at the tail end of splitting a bottle of tequila at the apartment and 3 bars later, I was pretty sloshed. Let’s see what I remember. first, it’s a homey, small, cozy bar, not quite a sliver but almost that way. The bar is on the right, music and assorted games on the left and to the back. Over the bar was kind of a shorter sloped ceiling(as with some pubs), an overhang if you will, which gave everything an even smaller feel. the bartender is a lady over 50 with a somewhat dangerously-close-to-being-a-femullet haircut, so you know it’s gotta be down to earth and homey. Everything is light wood with a hint of sweat stain. It’s well lit, the average age was about 53, and we just strolled right on in and I headed right on to the bathroom. But for about 10 regulars and us, it got pretty loud in there. It’s probably not enough to go on for a 2 star review, but I’m just not sure if I liked the place enough. After being at Feeney’s and here, I’d definitely choose Feeney’s over this. But it certain has it’s draws, so if you fit the description of any of the above(regular, baby boomer, femullet, or drunk) in all earnestness I do suggest going here.
