CLOSED. But Jim and Andy’s lives on in the memory of those who knew Cobble Hill when it was known as South Brooklyn. jim ran his fruit and produce business from a horse and wagon before he moved into the store.

If you often wander down Court St, as I do, chances are you’ve walked right by Jim & Andy’s without even noticing it. Especially during the winter, when they don’t have as many carts out on the sidewalk, it’s easy to miss the narrow, inauspicious storefront.
But if one day you decide to pull your head out of your ass and duck inside, you’ll find good service, good selection, and good prices. They might even have the parsnips that the two other joints on the street didn’t stock, so you can make your purée, slap a piece of striped bass over it and call it dinner.

Your basic fruit and vegetable stand, with carts on the sidewalk and additional stock inside. I stopped by just as they were closing up for the day — most of the carts had been pulled inside, and one of the proprietors was about to pull down the metal gate for the day. C. and I paid for our two Granny Smith apples and left. Looks like a local shop worth supporting.
