Food is excellent, service is great. It’s nice to have a family business in the neighborhood. I highly recommend!

Love this place! Always friendly! Always good– real neighborhood place. Real Brooklyn. Although it’s Mikes Deli now– same place — I believe Mike is John’s cousin who took it over when John fell on hard times. Good guy!

Well stocked, fresh donuts on Thursdays and Saturdays, friendly staff… a great neighborhood deli. I’m in there several times a week and have found obscure common baking supplies as well as basic staples. I wish the people working in every store I went into were this friendly. On a first name basis with all their regular customers and know the quirks of your order before you have to say it. The promise of their fresh donuts every Thursday and Saturday(brought in from some fabulous place in Bay Ridge) is how I get my kids out of bed! We’d be lost without John’s Deli.

OK, so I’ve been visiting these guys for almost 1 year now. I can’t say this about many places: I visit John’s at least once a week. I love it. I’m upping my stars to 5 because these guys deserve it. The service is consistent, the place is always spotless, and they always have everything I need in stock and at very reasonable prices. The owners at Blonde’s, the other deli around the corner, stand outside their store and smoke cigarettes every time I walk by. I see them when I get off the subway after work every day. Maybe it’s just their designated smoking time? Maybe they do it all day long. One more reason to visit John’s over that place.

This is a Deli like the delis I grew up with… Food in trays– damn good. Fresh and home cooked(not greasy). Great for a quick meal. They bring their bagels in from La Bagel Delight, they are good. However, the odd flavors are sometimes a day old. They have a few good household items and well-stocked fridge of eggs, butters, soy milk, cheese etc etc. They are not cheap but they are certainly not gentrified Brooklyn prices.

Great place! They have really great homemade food. The chicken salad is great as is the ice coffee and crumb cake. Love that they have Steve’s ice cream now!

This place is better than all of the new«upscale» places combined! They make a mean chicken parm, and they have stouffers French bread pizza in the freezer! What more could a guy ask for? If they got manhattan special on tap, I might just have to move into this place!

i love mikes deli. i see complaints of over pricing on the review board. not really… i mean, its not cheap. but its is GOOD, QUALITY, HOMEMADE food. They have a great selection of beer, prepared food, and ice cream. Just about anything you will need in a kitchen in a hurry, they WILL have it. once i had a craving for grapes, and guess what? THEYHADGRAPES. this place is perfect for the neighborhood. and yes, the ice coffee is really great. it totally beats Brooklyn Commune’s stumptown crap. i will never understand why that coffee is so popular.

I like this place, I really do. I really enjoy their sandwiches and cole slaw, I’m happy that they are conveniently close to The Juice Box and have pretty much anything I need in a quick fix. Are they over priced? Yes. Do they sometimes have an attitude? Yes… and this is why I can’t give them 4 stars. I have been here at least 30 times in the past year for various products, the convenience, cleanliness and selection are what keep me coming back. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago I was in there with two friends from out of town and watched the employees not make eye contact and almost act annoyed at my friends ordering. It was mid-afternoon, they weren’t busy, I’m not sure what the deal was but it was obvious they(not the owner) were being snotty to us. Sorry Mikes, I really like you guys and sometimes I still come in, when I do, you’re spot on and super nice again?!?

Pricey but they can get away with it, being one of the only bodegas in the area. But it is a nice, clean place, the sandwiches are decent enough and the service is speedy.

OVERPRICED!!! Same sandwich costs LESS in Midtown Manhattan. Highway robbery! And the owner’s a dick too.

Simply put. Mike’s is a luxury for all of us located in this quiet part of the neighborhood on prospect ave, where there’s really not much around to choose from. It’s an old school German deli that’s run by a very nice family. Family business is important bc as a family Theyre always on eachother to make sure every customer whether giving them a $ 1 sale or $ 100. Is always taken care of as one of their own. The owners a great guy with some great hardworking kids. Service is great, place is extremely clean from top to bottom, & the food is amazing! Everything is homemade(& I mean everything) & fresh. They make about 8 different kinds of trays of hot food daily & sell out by that night. Which is a relief because you know what you’re getting the next day is completely fresh(unlike Brooklyn commune, blondies, or crossroads café.) their salads are what they are known for which are apparently a big thing in bay ridge where their other stores are located. Great selection of beer, indoor seating and that’s about it. I definitely recommend that everyone checks out mikes deli and sees for themselves how great The place really is!

Been in the neighborhood for about six months and just haven’t made it to Mike’s Deli until tonight. Why? It’s a short walk from my apartment and it’s just outside of the Fort Hamilton Parkway F/G stop, so really I have no excuse. I had a 7:30PM, Sunday night craving for a turkey(Boar’s Head Honey Maple with pepperjack cheese) sammy and decided to give Mike’s a go. I should have done this about six months ago. Given that it’s Sunday night about an hour before they close, I expected a less than good customer service experience and maybe even a mediocre sandwich. Wrong on both counts. The guys working were helpful, speedy and made a pretty tasty sandwich, half of which will be tomorrow’s lunch. It’s clean, bright and has a little of just about everything you need(including Naked Juice’s Green Machine!). Consider me a fan.

It is conveniently located. It is clean. Those things are true, just as the previous reviewer said. But there’s a reason this place is empty every time I walk by. The prices are absolutely absurd. When I got a breakfast sandwich(2 eggs, cheese and bacon on a roll) and was charged $ 4.25, I grabbed a menu on the way out to see if he had made a mistake. It was no mistake, but it *was* a rip-off. Then I had a look at the other prices on the menu and compared a basic: a turkey hero. To get the sandwich the way I like it(which is nothing special), it would cost $ 7.50! How is this possible? Because the base price is $ 6 and then you start getting nickeled and dimed for everything. Lettuce, that’ll be another 25 cents. Tomato, same thing. cheese 75 cents. And the list goes on and on. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but every place I go has all of that included in the base price. Keep in mind that this is all with the same Boar’s Head products that everybody else uses. Absolutely ridiculous.

Windsor Terrace peeps, you can breathe a sigh of relief. There’s another option out there! Conveniently located next to the Ft. Hamilton subway stop too. This convenience store has just come under new management(which I only report because there’s a giant sticker on the window that says so). So, whatever that means. They have another location in Bay Ridge. For being such a small deli, it’s not too shabby, and actually much bigger and cleaner than the others nearby. Their menu boasts a lot of options. Breakfast(omelettes, french toast, sandwiches), Cold sandwiches, Hot sandwiches, Burgers, specialty sandwiches, platters. .. you name it! Their hero sandwiches are HUGE. I’m talking the size of my face huge. Their breakfast sandwiches have helped me through some rough mornings, if you know what I mean. And I think you do. They also have a lot of good beer options. So now I can come home from work and celebrate properly.* They’re open 7 days a week, 7 am to 9 pm. There’s an ATM that has a charge of $ 1.75. Free delivery with a minimum $ 12.00 order. And apparently they do a lot of catering too. It’s a nice option for those of us in Windsor Terrace squalor(just kidding. .. mostly). __________ * By which I mean passing out and forgetting the past 9 hours of failure.
