Bassam/Junior is the owner and one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He operates his store like an old-fashioned, small town, shop-owner: greeting you by name, helpful and always friendly. If you’re short a dollar or two, he trusts you to pay. He accepts package deliveries and even shovels the snow for others on the block,. A credit to the neighborhood. It’s not just a corner store, it’s a throw-back to another time. Sandwiches are made with love, to order!

This place is pretty fine as far as bodegas go. The owner here is amusing. Every time I buy beer here(they have a great selection) he IDs me and tells me I have a baby face. Ha.

My son and I visit Junior’s several times a year. We have a terrific house swapping arrangement with a family in Park Slope just on the other side of the same block as Junior’s. This is the place we come for milk, sodas, ice cream, and other little things we need during our stay. You can also get sandwiches, bagels, etc. as well as an impressive number of grocery items. Imagine my surprise this weekend when we visited for the first time in a year, and the owner remembered us and told us how glad he was that we were back. Even though maybe the most I’ve ever spent in one visit is $ 10, he treated us like valued customers. My son loves to go here(he’s 11, and of course stores are not always happy to see kids, even when they’re well-behaved). I recommend Junior’s for basic, every day needs, recognizable brands of household necessities, and a terrific selection of snacks. What makes it for us, every time, is the friendly service that makes us feel like family. Love this place.

A decent bodega with narrow aisles and products filled to the ceiling. No joke. For a munchkin like me, it was a little inconvenient when I couldn’t reach the cereal I wanted. But the counter guy has that long rod thing with a pincher to grab what I needed so it all worked out.

Good Decision: Buying beer and mixers at Junior’s. Bad Decision: Drinking a bottle of plum wine to your face, after you finish the rest of the alcohol at the party. This is a solid little bodega. The counterguy was nearly as nice, and almost as short as my grandmother. He was also genuinely apologetic about their limes, which were admittedly the saddest specimens I’ve ever seen.
