Kaplan Test Preparation

The instructor is supposed to take attendance, as the guy below me said. Problem is, there is NO way the instructor is going to challenge her boss/​employer by supporting the customer instead of the corporation. When I did address this, the guy (I still remember him, a tall guy in eyeglasses) snickered and didn’t care. The feeling I was left with was they just wanted my money — and they got it of course — and that was it. They don’t care about the student and the learning experience. It’s a terrible for-​profit taste you will be left with. You can also see Kaplan has consistently negative reviews. There IS a reason for that. It’s not just one opinion. It’s over and over. Like I said, try private tutoring by established performers. Plenty of guys and girls from Ivy Leagues and top LSAT performers (look for your own subject) are on Craigslist and tutoring sites and they won’t rip you off. I lost a huge amount of money and time by going with this company. As this is an update, expand my original review below this one to get the background.

I recently took a Kaplan LSAT Preparation course and was very let down. I had heard good things about Kaplan courses, and for the price I paid for the course I had high hopes. The instructor was incredibly boring and not particularly intelligent. I feel no more prepared for my test than I did before I took the class. They say you can re-​enroll in the class for free if you’re not satisfied, but the problem with that is you have to endure the hell that is a Kaplan prep course all over again. They have a money-​back policy where you can get refunded if your test score doesn’t improve, but that’s a total scam. Obviously my test score increased marginally over the two months of the course, but that was to my own merit and not to Kaplan’s. The «Kaplan Method» is completely impractical. Take your prep classes somewhere else.

I enrolled my daughter to Kaplan SHSAT test prep in march for an August course. Got a call from them 3 days before the start that the course is canceled and there’s no other similar options. Customer service is disgusting. They wasted our time for 5 month. leaving me without any options now. I will take my business elsewhere from now on and will advise all my friends to do the same!!!

I’m currently enrolled in an on-​site MCAT prep course… and I am regretting the amount of money I spent on the course. The teacher has cancelled twice, both times screwing the whole scheduling of the course. And now, due to another rescheduling, I cannot attend the last lecture because my lease is up. Due to these cancellations, the course will run almost 2 weeks past its original end date… something that the students who pay a LOT of money to be enrolled, should not have to work around. The least the teachers could do is make the course a priority, since your students are paying the big bucks to learn from you. SHOW UP ON THE SCHEDULED DATES.

The above poster thinks it was «Kaplan» that erased the attendance, but actually the teacher of the course is responsible for marking student attendance — not Kaplan. Maybe he should have reached out to the teacher instead of screaming (all caps is screaming right?) at the on-​site staff.
