I live in Brooklyn partly due to its extraordinary diversity. This park embodies this attribute better than most. On a weekend, the kids can mingle with other little ones from an incredibly wide range of homelands. The variety of languages being spoken during crowded times rivals a UN session. There are two areas of climbing structures for ages 2-?? and a giant white bear which is a fun prop for photos. An antidote to playgrounds in more hyped neighborhoods, usually full of annoying Brooklyn organic hipster parents and their whining, nanny-honed whelps. This is the real deal.

I usually cut through the park early morning and when its not crowded. There is a nice amount of quiet around 745am. There are always guys playing chess. A nice reminder of the 80s for some reason. I wish i had time to actually sit down with a cup of coffe but it near impossible. School kids like the run around b4 the bus arrives. I wish they had more seats under the trees

5:45am, on Saturday & Sunday during the summer months(from April 2nd to September 30th), you’ll find me on tennis court 6 at Kelly Park. Most individuals my age are coming home from an evening of inebriation, I for one, chose to other route. While individuals are comfortably lying in their beds, I am at Kelly Park ripping 100mph serves while waiting for fellow players to arrive. Why do I do it? It’s because I’ve been doing this every summer for the past 8 years. Oh with the Park. Kelly Park is described as an architectural nightmare! The layout of the park was created where if a home run were hit on one of fields, the ball would land on either tennis courts 1, 2, 3, or 4. Still wondering what genius thought of this one. A couple of notes on Kelly Playground… — 2 Handball Courts — Exercise Equipment = Pull up bars, Sit Up Bench, Push Up Grips — Playground, 2 sets of jungle gyms, 1 set of swings — 2 softball fields — 7 tennis courts The entire park measures 1.45 Acres. Anyway… If you’re up at 6:00am on a weekend, you’ll know where to find me.
