Christine has been cutting my hair for years and years, and she’s excellent! First it’s a treat to visit her apartment because it’s comfortable and fabulous, and second because it’s got all of the requisites for a haircut – great products, a good chair and a salon-​style sink.
I’ve got curly hair, which everyone can cut and style (it’s very forgiving) but not all can give it a great shape and style. Christine does this, and is careful to consider how long I tend to go between cuts – giving me a style that works in week one and in week six.
She also does my color and helps keep things interesting by trying variations – I’ve got no idea about such things, so she makes sure to mix things up to keep us both from getting bored! While I leave most decisions to her, I am sure that if you’ve got strong opinions about how you want your hair to look she’ll respect that.
As others have said, Christine is friendly, fun and patient. Visiting her apartment makes you feel good for supporting an independent business and is a much more interesting experience.

I have been having Christine do my hair for the past 3 years. SHe is amazing with color. I have blonde highlights. She also does a really nice job with cuts. She has her own style and sometimes I can tell the people in our neighborhood who have had their hair cut by Christine.
Until recently my daughter had long hair. Christine cut her hair last year for kindergarten and it was a big hit. This year she cut it again and was ever so patient with my squirmy 6 year old. She has a special booster seat for a kid to sit on and the price was very reasonable. She is great with kids:)

I just went to Christine for the first time recently, when she was nice enough to cut and color my hair the night before I went on vacation. And on top of accepting my last-​minute appointment, she was not only super sweet and patient with my fearful hair babble, but she did an amazing job. I tend to feel a little overwhelmed in a salon environment, so having my appointment in her apartment felt much more comfortable and intimate, as if you’re just hanging out with a friend. In fact, by the time I left (several) hours later, it felt like I’d known her forever.

The only time I have ever felt this favorably about a hair stylist in my life! Christine offers private hair styling & makeup services out of her lovely Clinton Hill studio. She has given me my favorite haircuts of my life, no exaggeration.
I never quite know what to do with my hair, and am usually met with hair stylists who are too timid to offer me an opinion on anything new to try. The first time I got a cut with Christine, she took the time to ask me a bunch of questions about what I did/didn’t like about my hair, and I could tell she was going to give me a really personally tailored look, instead of just going through the motions. I’ve had 2 cuts from her now, and both times she gave me a new, different look, and took her time to make sure the cut turned out just right. I have had so many compliments on my hair both times!
Other pluses — her studio is awesomely decorated and full of cool artwork, and she is just really friendly and easy going.
I will definitely be a loyal client of hers from now on!
