I have lived nearby for 16 years and whenever I use them I am pleased. I found the opposite to have been true (from other, more negative reviews): Staff has always been helpful and nice.

Every time I make the mistake of shopping at Kings Pharmacy instead of walking the extra block to Duane Reade, I end up wanting to punch someone in the f***ing face. The staff is awful, even by the low standards one comes to expect in NYC, and the pharmacy staff is particularly surly, unhelpful, and unsympathetic. Also, recent experience causes me to add «creepy» to that list of adjectives. See below.
Sure, Kings Pharmacy has store-​wide sales that Duane Reade would never have, but this is probably because Duane Reade isn’t getting their merchandise from knock-​off sources in the back of some sketchy half-​legal delivery truck. The number of semi-​filled bottles on the shampoo shelves is a curious case in point.
The Prospect Heights Kings Pharmacy is where, after relocating from California, I was rudely introduced to the NY «consumer protection» mandate that prevents customers from electing brand-​name drugs instead of generics. The pharmacy staff was belligerent and completely unhelpful in illuminating this asinine law, and I relocated my prescriptions elsewhere after this bad experience.
Recently I was browsing the vitamin shelf in Kings Pharmacy when an employee approached me to ask if I needed help. I said no, I was fine, and he then asked, «Can I ask you a question?» Sure, I said, and he said, «Have you ever had any teeth pulled?» he asked. WTF.
You are dead to me, Kings Pharmacy, and I look forward to the day you go out of business. If I had a dog, I would bring it here to urinate on your doorstep.

I’ve been using Kings Pharmacy for more than 25 years and it continues to be the best.
The staff is always pleasant and helpful, they are well-​stocked with a great variety of things, and the pharmacy is super efficient. I’ve tried other pharmacies but always come back to Kings!

Employees are nice, prices are great, and they always have my prescription ready on time. On top of that, they have good hours and an easy to use automated prescription refill phone service that they actually check (unlike some other places I’ve been to). I go past a handful of other pharmacies just to go to Kings.

Pleasant employees, fully stocked shelves, low prices and the only place in town that carries my favorite brand of nail polish (BRUCCI) in every tasty color. Get your ‘scrips filled here promptly and knowledgeably. I wish that there were more Kings Pharmacies in NYC and less of the «others.»

My son was prescribed a compounded medicine, so I needed a pharmacy that provides compounding. Turns out Kings actually has the medicine in house already compounded, so I thought, great, this will be easy.
I was shocked to find that the staff in the pharmacy is very rude. I needed their help in getting the prescription filled earlier than usual because I had spilled the previous bottle at home. While I understand there are insurance guidelines, the staff could have been more empathetic. Without this medicine, my son could choke to death. Literally. Instead, they just talked over me and rushed me off the phone.
Usually that would be enough for me to change pharmacies, but it’s difficult to find my son’s medicine. Plus, his dr had already called in a new dose because the kind they had was a little different from what she prescribed. And… They deliver!
The second incident was a change in insurance. I would think that this is a common occurrence. Maybe they don’t like change? Anyway, giving Melissa the insurance info was like pulling teeth. She was annoyed, and said the info on my insurance card was not sufficient. When I tried to get a better understanding of what info she needed, she got even more annoyed and told me to call the insurance company.
Last I checked, I am the consumer … One of thousands that keep their business open. I guess they are too big time to deal with people like me. They get a lot of business, I’m sure, because not many pharmacies in Bk do compounding. No reason to treat customers like crap.
I think I might just use the pharmacy in Washington Heights near the doctor’s office. Hopefully, I can time the refills wit dr visits. Kinda inconvenient, but at least they’re polite, and very helpful.

The reason why you always have trouble with this place is because they do not want to spend the money to hire or properly promote and train their employees. In an offhand chitchat waiting for an order, one of the better employees there informed me that she had all of a 50 cent raise in the 4+ years she had been working there. And she works the store AND pharmacy. That should tell you all you need to know about why orders are always messed up, lost, and why the employees aren’t exactly gung ho to do something about it, though they do try.

Go here for all your bathroom and household items. Their regular prices are ALWAYS lower than Duane Reade (even lower than Duane Reade’s sale prices!) across the street and the staff is friendly and helpful.
My only nit is that the store (like most pharmacies) is a big disorganized, but often I find the best things while wandering around. Wonderful generic items, old-​fashioned remedies, and little doo-​dads that time has forgotten in the age where the big pharmacies only carry mega-​brands and have turned into glorified convenience stores. Kings is only lacking in «compare to» items, like Duane Reade’s store-​brand sensitive toothpaste for example. The Kings «Preferred Rx» store brand only has certain basics, but not «compare to» knockoffs of big brands.
My favorite items at Kings: large packs of q-​tips and bathroom wipes (other stores carry the smallest overpriced packs); peppermint liquid soap ($ 5 less than Dr Bronners!); paper towels; toilet paper; Halls cough drops (99 cents vs $ 2.50 at Duane Reade! Insane!).
The prices are seriously so good I want to make a list at Kings vs Duane Reade so I can see how much I’m saving!

I’ve gone to this place a number of times and I’ve always been happy with the service. I’ve never used the pharmacy part, but their store is excellent. I like it much better than Duane Reade across the street.
They have just as good a selection as the Duane Reade and its cheaper. I mean, one day I went in there and the whole store was 25% off. I know that would NEVER happen at Duane Reade. And it’s not just like a 99 cent store where you’ve never heard of any of the brands. This place has all the brand name stuff.
Also, whenever I go in the staff is pretty helpful. A couple of times I’ve gone in to by toothpaste or q-​tips and they would point out to me that a different brand was on sale. I usually didn’t go for it (I’m really brand-​loyal) but hey, I appreciated it.
The only reason I don’t give this place 5 stars is their hours. The posted hours on the store are M-​F 8:30am — 9pm, yet I went there on a Tuesday night at 8:50pm to find the doors locked. If you’re hours are til 9, then you should be open until 9.
But overall, really good store.

OH MAN, you do NOT want to go to this pharmacy!
The first time I went here it was fine… though, upon each return it has gotten worse…
Each time I have filled my prescription something has gone missing… or isn’t filled when they think it is… or they just don’t know what is going on whatsoever.
I would not reccomend going to this pharmacy unless you have at least 15 minutes to commit to waiting or if you don’t mind leaving in a terrilbe mood.
They will not call you if something has gone awry with your prescription– they will just wait to deal with the issue once you are there, in person, waiting.

This place is my new choice over DR across the street. I have given DR so many opportunities and between the long lines and lack of prescriptions that you can refill the same day I gave up. I headed across the street and Kings was more of the Mom and Pop shop with friendly service in the pharmacy. They had everything I needed and I came back 30 minutes later and was on my way! I just wish they had more items to choose from in their store but if all you need are drugs then drop off your prescription and call it a day!

This drug store is ok for otc stuff and other sundries, but avoid the pharmacy. They severely messed up inputting my insurance info, tried to charge me as if I had no insurance, and then were almost hostile and definitely not helpful when I asked them to correct their mistake and refund me the difference.

Walking out of the doctor’s office I conveniently stumbled upon this pharmacy. Dropped off my prescription for Zithro, gave them my health card (I don’t know why they had to keep it for the ½ hour that it takes to process shit) and ambled on down to a coffee shop to bide my time.
A cappuccino and granola cookie later I returned. I gave them my name. 5 minutes pass. «What’s your name again? Briaaahhnaaaa M*****?» I confirmed it. 5 more minutes pass. «Could you write it for me wit yo date of birth?» I complied. 10 minutes pass. WTF. HOW DO YOU LOSE MY MEDICATION?! Finally she finds it, after much teeth sucking, and I pay. I ask her if the insurance card is within my bag. She opens it, takes a peek, and looks at her Manager.
I was about to kill her. I mean, I couldn’t really have taken her, but I wanted to. I was gonna have to be held back. She looks and looks but there is no card in sight. «Ummm.miss…i’m gonna have to look through ALL these bins to find your card…». SORRY?! WHAT? YOU… HAVE TO DO YOUR JOB? REALLY? Absolutely furious I stormed out and went to the grocery store to quell my nerves (mmm, food. mmm, beeeeer). Fortunately for me they called just before I was going to get on the train.
If you need to pick up something simple from this place, by all means. Just don’t do ANYTHING through the pharmacy. I’ve never witnessed such an inept and disorganized circus in my life.

So I’m really the first to review King’s Pharmacy? Seriously, one of the girls who works here is the one that got Foxy Brown put away. These girls don’t play, and I can respect that. There is a serious neighborhood vibe here– like neighborhood from 20 years ago. They have most everything you need in a drug store, and the prices are fair. Also a wonderful selection of stuffed animals and toys. If you wanna be a dick you can just cross the street to the Duane Reade (which I secretly do sometimes…), but Kings keeps it real.
