Kiwi

Lovely little boutique! Stumbled upon this gem just walking around the neighborhood one day, very unique items. Pricey but really great hand selected pieces by the trendy owner. Sister store for men right next door, I will definitely be back! Bought a lovely knit skirt that I get compliments on all the time.

Very cute store with high-​quality, beautifully curated inventory! I can’t speak to any lack of friendliness, because I was offered a glass of wine in a coffee cup while shopping here. As far as I’m concerned, that’s the height of hospitality.
I don’t understand the skinny-​people-​only gripe, because they told me they actually don’t carry XS sizes in most items. That was a bummer when it came to a VERY CUTE TOP and a VERY EXPENSIVE COAT I might otherwise have been tempted to purchase, but I’m certainly not going to whine that they don’t cater specifically to me.
Anyway, I’m typing this review while wearing a sweater made of clouds and spun sugar and perfection that I purchased at Kiwi, so consider me a happy (and future repeat) customer.

Kiwi is a lovely store with a very nice selection of clothing, and I am certainly glad to have it in the neighborhood. I just wish that the staff would smile. It would make the experience infinitely more pleasant.

yes, the lack of mirrors in the fitting rooms in a problem, especially since they carry lingerie!!! I was in here a few weeks ago and tried a nightie on. the sales girl was very helpful and apologized that there were no mirrors, but she was able to open up a door that leads to their stock room that has a mirror on the back so that I could see myself without having to come out to the sales floor. Another employee was in the stock room with the door wide open on the phone loudly arguing with someone. You could hear every word she was saying and It was really uncomfortable. I told the first sales girl about it when I was paying for my items and she was really embarassed about it and was very apologetic for the other girl. But I still ended up purchasing the nightie anyway, and some other really adorable bra and undie sets.

I would buy a lot more from this store, if only they had a mirror in
their dressing room.

Just wandered into this boutique late summer. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. The women are so very helpful. Cute cute clothes, shoes. A bit pricey for some of the sweaters. But oh so worth it when you have it on. Jewelry by one of the saleswomen, Sarah is fresh, edgy… you won’t see yourself coming and going. the good and the bad about this shop… too far away for me to go as often as I’d like AND too far away for me to go as often as I’d like. Nice gifts as well. candles, lotion. my kind of place A great find and it’s been there for years. I’m a new forever fan.

This boutique is constantly receiving new, trendy and fashionable inventory and changing up their window displays. It’s nice having a boutique that’s up-​to-​date with trends and styles right in the neighborhood. It’s a great shop to go to for key, signature and versatile pieces, or if you’re in a bind and need something ASAP (I got a black White & Warren dress for a last minute funeral here and I love it). Very small jeans and shoe selection, mostly tops, skirts and dresses and some accessories (hats, sunglasses, jewelry).
I disagree with Lucy G’s review below — I am no where near a «skinny» girl and have found several dresses and tops here which have fit well and are flattering to my body type. All you need to do is take a moment to weave through the racks and there are plenty of items in several sizes…
Yep, it’s definitely is on the pricey side. I’ve never once seen an item on sale /​sale rack here (and I come here at least 1x/​week).

I really want to like this store more than I think I actually do, but that doesn’t stop me from going in a fair amount!
First the plusses. They have a good selection of clothing, some high quality basics and some unique pieces that really stand out in your wardrobe. It is also not difficult to get assistance.
However, I always find the sales people to be a little, I don’t know exactly — I guess I just don’t always feel comfortable in the store and I don’t have that problem in any other stores in the area. It is just a vibe that is not conducive to browsing. Also, they tend to sell out of the middle sizes fairly rapidly. If you are a 25 or a 31 that is no problem but I frequently find that whatever item I want to get they don’t have in my size.

I just love everything about this business, right down to the smell. Every time I walk in I want to move in! And then I make a few selections (it is hard because so much of it is so good) and try a few things on and the sales people are so lovely – really, like you are at home talking about clothes with your sisters! and they almost always pull things for you to try on to fit what they see as your needs (and they are always right!). I never feel pressured to buy a thing, but am almost always compelled to because I love their clothes and love giving them my business!!!

Kiwi is pretty much everything I could want in a clothing store. It has beautiful clothes, and they have tons of things that are flattering not just for the super skinny but also clothes that are especially great for a curvy person, as the previous post mentions (I am a proud member of that demographic too.)
The shop owners and staff are incredibly helpful. Some of the best clothes I have purchased at Kiwi have been suggested by one of the owners or employees and are not always things I would think to choose for myself but wind up looking great – just what a somewhat risk-​adverse shopper like me needs. I find that while some of the most special items are expensive, often when I am on a budget, I find great items by Michael Stars, Splendida, and other great brands.
Consider this as well: when I left my own sweater at the store one day, they emailed me (I’m on their mailing list). I know the owners’ kids names. and they ask after my roommate when I come in without her.
Going into Kiwi is also a cozy experience. Just last night, I went in during the Park Slope Snowflake Celebration and was treated to a cup of champagne just as Christmas carolers came into the store. Every neighborhood needs a place like this.

Okay, here are my beefs with Kiwi.
1) The clothes are quite beautiful, it’s true. But what they don’t tell you is that this is a specialty shop. That is, the clothes are designed for skinny women to create the illusion of them having curves. This means that when a woman who actually has curves tries on the clothes, she looks like a Russ Meyer girl, and everyone yells at her that she’s all hanging out. Not cool.
2) The staff is NOT friendly. Not helpful either. (See above comment about curvy women and all hanging out.)
3) EXPENSIVE. Shit, EXPENSIVE.
4) It always pains me that for a store that is so EXPENSIVE. Shit, EXPENSIVE as described above, there are always at least three small children rolling all over the floor and swabbing their grimy hands on everything.
You can literally taste the Park Slope mombie entitlement in the air at this place. It’s not so good.

Kiwi is a small but rather serene and elegant store on 7^th Avenue in Park Slope. I always admire the clothes in the window and finally stopped in last weekend.
Prices here aren’t cheap, but the clothes are high quality. Many of them are wardrobe staples (white blouses, black dresses, jeans, etc.) but with interesting flourishes that make them special or unique.
The salesgirls, while not falling all over themselves with friendliness, are pretty helpful and have a good sense of style.
