Klean Freaks NYC

I was desperate and needed help. I have a 4 year old with mounds of toys and a messy room and an 8 week old newborn. With neither the energy nor the inclination to clean, our apartment had devolved… Enter Kleanfreaks. I got the deep clean plus several hours of organizing so that my poor daughters room could get sorted out and we could get some control back into our lives. There is no time limit on a deep clean and they are not kidding. The organizer — Nyesha and the cleaner — Shadaya stayed the whole day until the place sparkled and gleamed. Our apartment has never been this clean. Each room (especially the bathroom) was so clean. I had no idea what to do with my daughters room but Nyesha said — don’t worry, I got this — and she did. My daughters room looked so beautiful and organized, with toys in their place and grouped by category. When Shadaya arrived, she started with the bathroom. I left the apartment two hours after Shadaya got there and she was STILL working on the bathroom. I am extremely impressed with the service and I think I have found myself a new cleaner. Klean Freaks did good enough a job that I felt compelled to leave a review. The cleaner was a little bit late, but did an absolutely amazing job. I’ll be coming back in the near future for sure.

I’ve been meaning to write this review for some time. Unfortunately, my experience with Klean Freaks didn’t meet my expectations, and there was no time for the issues to be fixed. I ended up finishing the job myself.
We were having a lot of out-​of-​towners coming for a family event, and wanted the place spotless, the day before everyone arrived. I thought I’d get a crew, and they’d get the job done quickly and well. I was really busy with the event planning, and needed this to be done quickly. I was surprised that Klean Freaks said they were only sending 2 cleaners (it’s a 4BR house with 2.5 bathrooms), but they assured me the cleaners were very fast and efficient. One cleaner did not show up. The cleaner who came did not work very fast, and though she worked for 6 hours straight, she was unable to complete the job by 2PM, which was when she needed to leave to go to another job. I had to clean the rest of the house myself after she left. I expressed my dissatisfaction, and Klean Freaks said they could send someone to finish up the following day, but by then it would be too late, as my guests were arriving for the event.
There were a few other issues as well. One was that they were supposed to bring Bona, which is the product I use for my wood floors. The cleaner didn’t bring it and had to use mine, which I did receive a small credit for, but I was a little annoyed that Klean Freaks spent time asking me exactly what I wanted, only to not show up with the promised products.
There was an issue with the hourly rate that bugged me. The rate they quoted me was apparently per cleaner per hour, a rate for having two cleaners. It is apparently a lower rate than having only one cleaner. I never wanted only one cleaner, but only one cleaner showed up. I was very annoyed that there was only one cleaner, because of time constraints, and when I called Klean Freaks, they proceeded to tell me that because I was annoyed, they would give me a discount on the hourly rate, and that instead of charging me the higher rate for only one cleaner, they would «only» charge me the hourly rate for having two cleaners! So, apparently they normally would have charged me a higher rate because one of their cleaners didn’t show up?! And were doing me some kind of favor by «only» charging me the rate they had already quoted me? It made no sense, and I kept pointing this out but getting the same explanation.
Finally, when it was all over, and I was asked if I was satisfied or dissatisfied, I had to say I was dissatisfied, and I did receive a discount for my dissatisfaction, but I would have much rather had my house thoroughly cleaned when I needed it, rather than receive that discount. All the back-​and-​forth communication was time consuming, and the cleaning was expensive, only to end up with a half cleaned house.

On the fence if I would use again. Paid for a deep clean for a one-​bedroom. Had a very dirty tub– which they got sparkling clean. The rest of the apartment was in good shape– I really just got for the tub (they only needed to spent 2 hours there for a 1 bedroom so it wasn’t a filthy apartment).
Positives:
Arrived on time, sent two people.
Of the items that they did clean, they did a pretty good job.
Clean mildew/​soap scummed tub that was discolored– got it sparkling clean and white (wow)!
They were also available on a short notice, were able to come the next day! Other cleaners were a two week wait.
Had Unilocal discount for first time customer.
So-​so parts:
They had a very long checklist of stuff that needed to be done (great!). There were some items that needed to be re-​done, so I told them to do the base in the kitchen boards, wipe down the floor by the refrigerator, re-​do the toilet which still had some grit on in, etc. By the time I got to the fifth item, I was over asking them to re-​do items and decided to let them go home as a certain point it gets uncomfortable telling them to re-​do so many things.
There were some spot stains on the walls that needed to be wiped but I didn’t ask for it to be done b/​c I thought it wasn’t included.
After they left they left the check list and I read it all and realized that several items on the list weren’t done:
Interior windows
Spots on walls (turns out it is included!)
Light switches/​fixtures
Top of fridge
Window sills
Top of doors
Floor underneath raised sink (which is off the floor) in bathroom
I do understand that at the end if I’m not happy with something I can ask them to do it on the spot but by the time you’ve gotten to the fifth item that wasn’t done it gets tedious and stressful as they should know whether or they did something or not. The reason why I was paying such a high cost is because I don’t want to have to tell them how to do their job or what they should have done on the checklist. they should just do it.
So I’m thrilled they got the tub clean, which is why I got them, but not sooo thrilled with the items that were missed and having to tell them to re-​do items. For what I got I don’t think it was worth the money. Maybe more like a $ 110 value? If I did pay the $ 169 I would have been really upset for the value received but used the Unilocal discount offer they had. A simple klean is approx. 3 hours but the deep clean for my apartment was only 2 hours.
Would I use again? Maybe. Now that I have the checklist I know exactly what they should be doing… but do I want to get stressed telling them what’s missing on the list… not really. I think I might try another company I had in mind to see if they do everything they are suppose to do without telling them. If not, not sure if I would go back to Klean Freaks, maybe if they send a more thorough crew or if I was going to pay the simple klean price…
But once again the parts they did clean were cleaned well, so that’s why I’m giving a 3 star rating.
If you are a customer on the fence about the deep clean, if they are willing to provide it, I would ask for the check list before hand and review it before the appointment. That way you know what exactly should be done during your appointment to make sure everything is covered.

Normally I’m skeptical about cleaning people but my fears were allayed. I spoke with Shandy who was knowledgeable and helped me decide what type of cleaning I needed.
First, the cleaners were on time. That’s HUGE with me. Then they came in did a walk thru and got right to work. My apartment is largely a bachelor pad so you can imagine how much work was involved, but they did it all. They vacuumed, dusted, polished, swept and mopped. And the cleaning products left a fresh clean smell. And at the end they took out the trash and recycling.
I would definitely recommend Klean Freaks!

Big thanks to Klean Freaks! My apartment hadn’t been cleaned in the year that I had lived there (apart from some light swiffer action) so I had clean freaks come in and do their deep clean to my year of caked on dirt.
And what great results I got! Two guys showed up and we’re here cleaning for 5 or so hours! From getting down on his hands and knees to scrub the floor, to sucking the dust out of my couch, klean freaks were immaculate in each thing they did.
The owner Antonio even called to make sure I was happy and instructed me to do a final walk through with my cleaners, who were happy to accommodate any of my last OCD instructions.
I will definitely be using them again! More than once every year ;)

So I came into town last weeked. I invited a few people back to my hotel room. Well they invited a few people who also invited a few people. Needless to say my room was trashed. Klean Freaks saved me! They discretely came up and cleaned everything: spilled beer, puke, chicken wings– someone even took a dump in the shower! The hotel was never the wiser! Thank you thank you!

I have a small studio on the lower east side that I airbnb when I’m in Nashville. I called Klean Freaks about taking care of it for me. The owner of the company called me back after my initial call and assured me he would take care of it as if it were his own. Let me tell you, he has!
I have five stars on my airbnb listing and it’s all because of Antonio and Klean Freaks. It’s great to know I don’t have to worry about my apartment while I’m away. I just give Klean Freaks the check in and check out dates and they make sure it’s all perfect for me. My guests always mention how clean the place is in their reviews. I especially like whatever laundry detergent they use, the smell is lovely!

I was surprised at how clean they were. I’m pretty OCD about cleanliness so I’ve never had anyone come and clean my apartment because I just didn’t trust that they would do a great job. But I needed a move-​in cleaning service for my new apartment because I didn’t have time to clean it myself. I have to say, Klean Freaks were very good. They were detailed and thorough. I especially liked that they provide a summary sheet at the end listing all the areas they cleaned. They especially did a great job in the bathroom.
Klean Freaks were also great on the phone, both booking the appointment and for the follow-​up calls. I was nervous when I booked them because I’d never used them before, so I called, and called, and called to reiterate to them how really really clean I wanted the apartment. Each person who answered the phone was unbelievably friendly, understanding and accommodating each time. They were so great with customer service that I just trusted that they would do a great job, and they really did.
I’ve read a couple of comments about the price. However, I’ve checked other places and the price is quite competitive with other cleaning services and is reasonable. Besides, this is about having people in your home, cleaning your things and making your space more livable. To me, nickeling and diming that service seems silly because you can always just spend your time and energy cleaning your space yourself.
I think a cleaning service is truly about service: a service that takes time and worry off of you so you can devote your time, energy and worry on other (hopefully more important) things. Klean Freaks are great at providing this service. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

I’m not really sure how this company has positive reviews. Let me break it down… called to set up appointment and REALLY emphasized our household doesn’t use chemicals, specifically saying we only use one brand. At first the booker said they would gladly buy the brand for us and then called back 5 min later and said we had to buy it. I spent 10 min on the phone walking her thru exactly how we want it cleaned (white vinegar on the floor, only bleach in bathroom and so on).
Two kids showed up on time (only positive) but had NO idea what we were talking about when we said we are a chemical free house. Clearly the booker just sent them on a job without actually explaining the job. For the next 3 hours, they did the WORST possible clean I’ve ever seen. To the point we had to completely reclean after they left. It was apparent these kids had never cleaned an apt before. Id like to point out the kids were super nice and in no way was it their fault they simply weren’t given direction and only hired because they were young and probably work for very cheap /​taken advantage of.
Don’t waste your money on this scam of a place. Unless of course you plan to clean over them after.

I moved back into my place after two years of subletting. The place was trashed. Klean Freaks came in and made my place livable again. The bathroom and kitchen (especially the fridge) looked brand new. I highly recommend their services.

This is the 2^nd time the Freaks have been out to my house to clean and I still can’t believe how sparkling clean they get the place! I have 3 kids (2 are teenage boys) and when Klean Freaks come out they manage to get through the mess my kids make. It’s really great that they can come out and manage to relieve some of the work that a busy mom has to do! What a relief to come home to a fresh, clean house where I can just sit down and relax… at least for a few days until the kids mess it up again!

I never write Unilocal reviews (this is my first), but Klean Freaks was so awesome, that I had to. I looked into several cleaning services, and as a firm believer in the «you get what you pay for» adage, I booked this one.
It’s true. The cleaners arrived precisely on time, and were totally unphased by my very, very messy apartment (we had a party the night before, hence the desire for a cleaning service). They started right away on the bathroom, and were way more thorough than I expected, first vacuuming every (literally every) surface in the bathroom before beginning to clean surfaces with cleaning product. I’m what you might call «detail oriented» (read: sometimes insane) about the cleanliness of my space, and I was really impressed.
I had to leave before they were finished, and I was astounded by the results when I got home. Every surface was immaculate. I thought to myself, «Huh. So that’s the color my sink is supposed to be. Wow.» I didn’t recognize the inside of my oven. The apartment smelled delightful, which is a feat, given that I own two cats.
Bottom line: super professional, thorough and great at what they do. I will definitely book again in the future. Thank you, Klean Freaks!

Best cleaning service I’ve had since I moved to NYC 6 years ago! I’ve been on the search for a reliable, affordable, and professional cleaning service since I moved to NYC. After trying out a few other services (the absolute worst being handy), I couldn’t be happier with Klean Freaks. $ 189 for a Deep Cleaning of a 2-​bedroom by a team of 2 cleaning professionals is a great deal, especially when they transform your home! I couldn’t be happier! Jonathan and Tanesha were awesome! Friendly, professional, and meticulous!
I will definitely book with Klean Freaks again!

189 bux for a full deep clean?
I cant believe someone who lives in NYC, paying insane rent can complain that that is a lot of money. Thats a deal if you ask me
We have only had them clean our spot once, & I cant believe how great it looked.
No corners were cut and thy just flat out kicked ass.
I have hired other cleaners in the past who are cheaper but the place didn’t look half as good as it did when Klean Freaks did it.

My husband booked a cleaning with Klean Freaks today and our cleaner, Asaana, did an outstanding, immaculate job in our 1 bedroom apartment. We are very pleased with the results and we will definitely use them again in the future.
Previously, we tried several other cleaning services which were less expensive but also less thorough. We even signed up to have repeat cleaning services with Handy, but after 3 times in a row of last minute cancellations or extreme tardiness, we cancelled it.

I’ve created a Unilocal profile just to leave this review, because Klean Freaks pretty much blew me away. I’ve tried a few local cleaning services and, although all of them offered a «deep clean,» this is the first time I feel our apartment actually got what I signed up for. All our furniture is gleaming, the floors are spotless, the dust is gone, and the bathroom has been thoroughly scrubbed. I’m pretty sure each bookshelf was emptied and cleaned, instead of just dusted around the books. Even the bags of clothes that haven’t made it to the donations dropoff yet (and for now live in the corners of our bedroom) were picked up, cleaned around, and then actually organized in a neat, non-​avalanche-​causing order. Finally, we have an old cat who sheds 24/​7, and this might be the only time in the last 5 years that there’s no cat hair ANYWHERE in the apartment (other than on his sassy self).
In addition, Ruth arrived a few minutes before our appointment at 9am because she wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be late for work. She brought a vacuum cleaner and supplies, and only asked for paper towels (I think she used less than half a roll, miraculously enough). She took out a bunch of cardboard boxes for recycling even though I said she could leave them under the table; waved me off when I tried to put away the dishes from the rack just to get them out of her way (all clean dishes were put away into the cupboard, and the few dirty cups and small plates left on side tables had been collected, washed, and dry by the time I got home); and she left a detailed note about what she did — such as the throw rugs that she set aside because they’d need to be laundered. She spent an entire workday on our one-​bedroom, and it really shows.
TL;DR — fantastic service, very professional and detail-​oriented, 100% worth the money. Warmly recommended.

Unfortunately, our experience with Klean Freaks was not that of most other reviewers. To start, they arrived 50 minutes after the scheduled time. They said they got lost in our building, which does have two wings and two elevator banks, but also has a doorman to direct any non-​residents to the appropriate one.
The larger problem, though, was with the cleaning products they planned to use. We specifically sought out what we thought was a green cleaning company, as we have a small dog who likes to get into mischief. The Klean Freaks website advertises a green cleaning company whose products are «almost drinkable», and has several photos of Method brand products.
The products we saw were Clorox, Windex and Dawn. Not exactly pet-​safe.
$ 169 for a deep clean of a studio apartment is not cheap, especially when the products used are mainstream, neon blue toxic traps.
Beware of greenwashing!

There are not enough good things I could say about my experience. The service I received from Klean Freaks went above and beyond my wildest expectations. I hired them to do a deep spring clean for me as I travel a ton and the last thing I want to do when home is clean. My apartment isn’t huge (about 650 square feet) but the cleaner spent a solid SIX HOURS making sure that it was perfect. I have two walls of floor to ceiling windows and did pay extra to have the blinds cleaned — he bleached every single individual blind! The bathroom looks like it’s never been used, and every fixture and appliance in the kitchen sparkles like new. The floors are so clean (which they do on hands and knees — not just a sloppy mop job) that when you walk barefoot they actual squeak, and there isn’t a speck of dust anywhere.
It’s obvious that Klean Freaks takes pride in their work. The best part is that they will customize a cleaning so that the customer get the best bang for the buck. They are totally reasonable in pricing and I will 100% use them as my maintenance cleaning service going forward. Booking is beyond easy and everyone that I spoke with was super professional and nice. I felt very taken care of by Klean Freaks. If you are looking for a cleaning service in NYC use KF — you will not be disappointed!

I waited a few months to write the review to make sure everything kept running smoothly, as I have been using Klean Freaks to manage my Airbnb turn-​over while I’m out of town. Although I have not seen the cleaning job they have done, I have had no complaints from any of my guests and my best friend was in the apartment checking up on things the other day and said it looked fine.
In addition, they have been very easy to deal with, check my mail and send it to me out of town, restock my toiletries and even answered an emergency call to go do a job within the hour. I can honestly say that they have been Godsends.
