L & B Auto Repair

My check engine light was on and I stopped by after reading Unilocal reviews. The guy plugged in the computer and in 1 minute told me my gas cap was probably loose. I tightened it. Boom. Easiest repair ever. They easily could have convinced me I needed an expensive repair. Awesome shop.

An honest mechanic is a beautiful thing. Or, at least, a mechanic you really trust is – I’ve probably had honest mechanics before, but there was always that one hard-​to-​describe-​service-​need-​that-​you-​must-​have that seems to cost about $ 300 too much, and that led me to leave.
Hasn’t happened with Imad (L&B) — just the opposite. He’s talked me out of unnecessary work and saved me a lot of money.
He’s good to his word on the time and the cost, and I’ve never had a problem with a repair. If you’re looking for a mechanic, go here. And if you are thinking of switching because of the move, don’t. You’ll regret it.

My wife and I have a ’95 Eagle Talon, not the most common car. We’ve recently had issues with the car idling and stalling at lights/​stop signs. Based on a recc from my friend, I took it to L&B. The main man looked at it and made a few small tweaks, including a fuse, tightened a belt and something else. The car feels stronger than ever, the service was terrific and he didn’t charge me as the repair was so minor.
This is not the usual car repair experience, where they seek to fleece you for many unnecessary things. You can def trust L&B.

I’ve been going to L & B for over 10 years. The manager Ehmet and his team kept my 13 year old Toyota running past its expiration date. They are great mechanics and simply very nice people. They now have my red Cube to take care of until… You won’t go wrong this group.

This is a pretty trustworthy shop, they don’t try to push any unnecessary work and are always the cheapest quote I get.

My car started shaking and wasn’t accelerating right, which made me worry something was seriously wrong with the engine.
Being new to NY and knowing nothing about cars I just took it to the closest place and prayed they wouldn’t rip me off.
I was lucky I landed at L&B. I dropped off the car, and they called me back that same day, said it was something small with the electrical wiring and it would only cost me $ 40.
Imad (I think that’s his name) and the rest of those guys are honest mechanics. I’m definitely going back.

This is a great auto repair place. Really good mechanics and nice guys too. Very clear and informative, and they’ve even helped us out with little things a couple times right when we pulled up. We now have all regular work on our 2001 BMW station wagon done here. Highly recommended.

Needed an oil change and a new headlight bulb in a hurry. They did it in 30 min. We were $ 5 short on cash for the work, and one of the guys there pulled out his own wallet and said, «ok, last $ 5 on me.» Amazing. We ran to an ATM and returned to hand him $ 20. He refused it. Customer for life.

I’ve been going to this mechanic for over 12 yrs and I have never had any issues or problems. They do good solid work and guarantee everything without any questions. Their prices are competitive and reasonable. Top notch group of people. Friendly and knowledgeable.

We’ve come here for inspection and to have our brakes replaced and have gotten good service. Today we popped in because our license plate was falling off and they took the time to put it back on at no charge. Service for free in NYC?! For that, I say five stars.

IMAD is one solid mechanic. No bullshit, tell it how it is guy. He also does great work.

At first I thought the guy was really rude: however, it was just his personality…
Overall the quality I get here is great.

We brought our 2 year car in for state inspection and an oil change. Quick, good service. We would return for future maintenance and repairs.

Imad and L&B Auto were recommended by a friend from the neighborhood — best recommendation ever. Imad (spelling?) is very nice and fair. My car is a junker, I was not expecting miracles… but it runs better than it did when I got it 6 years ago and the improvements were well worth the money. I also tried checking the pricing against online estimates and he was on point. He was also the first person to correctly diagnose an issue i have had since forever, which makes me feel like 70% of these mechanics must not have a clue. I will def be going back…

I’ve had my fair share of mechanics in the past and I would have to say L&B is número uno!!! I live in Staten Island and I always make a trip to Brooklyn for my mechanical needs. Emad is the man who runs the shop and he is a great guy. To me he has always been honest with me and his men always do a great job. Like I’ve said I’ve tried other mechanic shop and none can hold a candle to L&B. When I first had my old car I went to a different mechanic and he gave me a list of problems a mile long telling me that I should change this part and that part. Since I wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting ripped off, I decided to take a friends advice and visit L&B. Emad greeted with a smile and a hand shake and asked me why came in today. Well I told him what the other mechanic told me, and he put my car on the lift and his workers took a good look at the car from top to bottom. I would say 90% of the problems the other mechanic listed didn’t need repairing at all. The car just needed a tune-​up, an oil change, and a new left ball joint. I would list what the other mechanic told me but I don’t remember the whole list. Well anyways fast forward a few years and I decided to buy a new car. And just like Luke W. Emad gave me a helping hand on buying a car. I called him and told him on certain cars with the mile and year and etc. I chose a car that bested suited me and Emad checked out the car for me from top to bottom without charging me a penny. All-​in-​all I don’t consider L&B my mechanic shop, but I feel like they are part of my family

I could not agree more with Luke W.‘s review. Ahmed is the best! I’ve been bringing my car to L & B for about 3 years now and they have always taken good care of me. They even move my car for street parking when I can’t pick it up during operating hours.
I’m from California where everyone drives and mechanics tend to treat women as if they are idiots when it comes to cars. Ahmed could not be more different. He and his staff are respectful, honest, and seem genuinely pleased that you choose to do your business with them.
They are the best!

I have been going to L and B for about 7 years now and I really can say that they are more than just mechanics to me.
Imad has become a friend over the years, and for any little thing I can come to him for help. He has also assisted me in purchasing cars, coming with me to the buyer’s place.
There have been multiple times where he has not charged me for small loose ends, which is very generous, especially in such a negatively stigmatized industry such as auto repair.
Now, everything is not glitters, however. There have been a couple of times where items were corrected, to only have the issue not completely fixed. With that said, I have taken it right back and they all were corrected.
Currently, I have a newer Bimmer, and I wouldn’t really mess with in-​depth electronic issues there. For any all-​purpose mechanical repairs, they are great.
One of the best parts of L and B is that you can negotiate with the shop. Don’t take their prices at face value, do your research and form a decent estimate based off of that. I usually tend to shave couple bucks off of the original estimate to where it is a more reasonable price.
Go early in the morning to avoid wait.
