There aren’t a lot of wine or liquor stores in Sunset Park, so L&M is what we’ve got. They have decent liquor coverage but pretty poor wine selection, unfortunately. A lot of huge producers(Mondavi, Yellow Tail, B&V, Frontera, etc) and a few thirty dollar French wines — also from major producers. Not a lot of estate bottled wine or interesting small vineyards, and a terrible selection of Californian and Italian. They also close thirty minutes to an hour earlier than their posted hours every night.

While grocery shopping in BKLN Chinatown we were looking for a wine shop where to buy some cheap wine to be used for cooking. This place is exactly what it looks like: a limited selection of cheap wines and even cheaper heavier alcohols(like a $ 5 bottle of Bacardi Limon). Exactly what we were looking for! I got a bottle fo 2007 Vina Sol’s Sangre de Toro from Catalunya for about $ 11 which turned out to be perfect for our mission: cooking a baby bok choi and Chinese sausage risotto(and trust me, it was delicious). But I also found a bottle of Simi’s Cabernet Sauvignon from CA(I forgot the year…), which happens to be VH’s uncle’s favorite wine. What a coincidence that the following day we were expected for dinner at VH uncle&aunt’s! They take credit cards.
