Larisa Litvinova, MD

Dr. Litvinova is still compassionate and caring, but I feel she has gone too far to the ‘east’ and has forgotten that some problems need specialist follow-​up and, sometimes, medicine.
My last annual exam showed some bloodwork concerns. She recommended a sonogram, and then an herbal remedy to take for the next 6 months, then follow-​up. I didn’t feel my condition was explained to me properly, so I went to a specialist. The specialist agreed with not taking any further surgical steps right now, but he also explained why. He also said that the herbal pills she recommended are little more than a load of hooey and that I’m welcome to continue them or save my $ 40/​month.
Recently, I saw another specialist who is treating me for symptoms I’ve had for years — for which Dr. Litvinova made a number of herbal recommendations, but never sent me onward for further for diagnosis or treatment. I am now on some good ‘ol fashioned western PILLS and by damn am I feeling better. I realize that some people will really appreciate her holistic approach — and I did for nearly 10 years myself — but sometimes east needs to meet west and for me, it isn’t happening here.
I’ve stuck with Dr. L through 3 moves in Brooklyn. It’s by far the most comprehensive doctor relationship I’ve had since my pediatrician. If you want a holistic doctor, she is probably the right doctor for you. But for myself, it is time to move on.

I started here in October 2014 simply because I needed a PCP. I’m lucky because after a health crisis this past March, I’ve been to her office 5x/​3 months. She has been so kind and helpful in recovering from my recent crisis — she took out staples when i didn’t want to go back to the terrible hospital that gave them to me, she evaluated me for respiratory issues after my surgery, she helped me find alternative solutions to side effects of the crisis itself. When I needed short term disability, she and her office staff made sure my paperwork was filled out in a timely fashion.
I agree with the concerns about the office staff — while my condition warrants immediate appointments («the cardiologist says I need to see her to see if I have a cold or just pneumonia after my heart surgery»), they can range from very kind but not so helpful to not warm and brusque on the phone — quite in contrast to the doctor herself. The women who take blood are some of the best I’ve had which is AMAZING for an office.
Finally, she used to have the hours listed on her voicemail but she doesn’t anymore. It’s great that they have flexible hours (open at 7:30 am one day, staying open later another), but it’s difficult to call one day and not have them answer and not know when to call back the next — i wish she kept her current hours on her website or voicemail so it were easier to reach her.

First visit to the office left us really impressed by the fact that there a human touch to this practice, which brings a different atmosphere to the entire experience.
After searching for the reason why my wife was hurting and tired, over 2 years, visiting a number of medical offices and practicioners of many different fields (from family physician and physical therapists, all the way to neurosurgeon), we were exhausted from fighting a mystery illness.
From one session in this office, the right tests were performed and diagnosis confirmed with a very successful treatment. After intensive therapy and a great deal of follow-​up, we are now on the road to being a healthy and happy family we once were.
My entire family is very thankful for putting an end to our struggle of searching and we are looking forward to full recovery.
Best doctor we have met so far. From what we see, this is the doctor we are staying with, because more attention is paid to preventative procedures that we now know will pay off in the long run.

I wish I had heeded the experience of the other Unilocalers. Poorly run office, incompetent front desk staff and a rude, stiff doctor. In reflecting on my experience to write this review, I’m actually mad at myself for not telling the doctor to go F herself after some of the things she said to me when a simple apology about her staff screw up was in order. I honestly have never had such poor experience with a doctor in my whole life. What can you say about a «professional» who tries to start an argument with you? She has issues. Stay away. The fact that there are so many one star reviews for such a busy office and not a lot of positive testimonials speaks volumes to me and explains the frustrating waste of time that was my appointment. There are a million doctors in New York with an actual personality and some manners. Good luck to us all to finding those types of caregivers. This one will stick in my craw for a while, it was that bad.

Doctor Larisa is super patient and helpful. When I go in to see her, I get in and out. Her front desk team are equally charming.
Finally, a doctors office I don’t dread going to.

After my phone interaction, I have no desire to come in. Sad because the doctor may be amazing but until the front desk understand how important their role is in making people feel welcome and taken care of, the doctor doesn’t have a chance and on that note, it’s the doctors responsibility to set that tone with their front desk. It’s a shame.

One Star due to staff not informing doctor that I was there only for a shot, when that is there protocol. Doctor took patient ahead of me who showed up 30 minutes after I arrived. Waiting in exam room for 40 minutes. Late for work Thanks.

The office is amazing even though it’s busy, the girls do there best to make us happy, Blood done while waiting for doctor. The receptionist is very busy at times & trys her best to make the pt happy. The lady who takes the blood does a great job now they have 2 lades there cause the office has been busy. I wouldn’t change her for nothing in the world. The time is worth the wait she gave me her the attention i needed before walking out the door.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr Litvinova. Her practice is well run, appointments start on time, the front desk and nursing staff all seem relaxed and cheerful in addition to clearly being good at thier jobs. Her office and exam rooms are clean and organized and comfortable. She answers questions thoughtfully and honestly. Dr Litvinova is fundamentally a nice person as well as a great doctor.
