So I read the reviews, absolutely knew what I was walking into, but what’s important for me is the end result, and it was good. Halfway through the cut I already knew she was cutting it right, unlike my other terrible experiences with other men’s barbershop nearby.
They knew what to with coarse thick hair that sticks up when it’s cut too short. Everyone was personable, lots of scissors work and I love the results. Would definitely come here again.

Lisa is absolutely amazing, she is so personable and funny. She is also honest and her work speakss for itself. Her cuts are great and grow in nicely and her color is top notch. She cured my hair of its brassy and uneven tones and gave me gorgeous warm and delicate highlites. Lisa also gives good advice about maintaining your style at home. Big deal so it’s tiny and a tad cluttered (a complaint by other reviewers) but the haircuts that I get from Lisa are reasonably priced, always grow in really well and all of her employees are damn nice included the lovely Lisa herself. Plus she does great color!!!

For any doubters out there, Lisa is the real thing. Her place is no frills and not fancy. But, she knows her stuff. And, she is great and patient with kids as noted with Luke (nice kid, but seriously did not want his hair cut). I trusted her with my cut as I am growing my hair out and was nervous about getting it cut. She is AMAZING. I recommend her for any guy wanting to get their hair «styled» and unsure where to go.

After coming here 3 times to get my haircut I was overall happy with the results. The place is small and a little dirty but at least my haircut was decent. So when I made an appointment for Saturday at 1030 I was surprised when I showed up that the doors were locked. I called and a message said «we open at 1030 Saturday». Ok, that’s great, but shouldn’t you be ready for customers at 1030? I decided to wait for a few minutes after 1030 and saw one person who presumably an employee roll up at 1034. She didn’t notice me standing there and was in some sort of flurry. No problem, I walked away, left a message that I am no longer a customer if my time is not respected and walked up to «from head to toe» on 7^th. As my dad would say I am voting with my dollars and I vote not to Lisa L salon.

When I came in for a cut, all I can say was that I was extremely uncomfortable in this tiny salon. There was a dog and a small child, plus two or three stylists. There was barely room to pass by people when I got up from the chair to go to the sink, etc.
The hairstylist didn’t speak to me at all during the cut. She looked miserable, which is why I still tipped well since I figured she was not paid well. The salon was dirty and cluttered, and the mirror was too high for the chair I was sitting in, and I could barely see as the stylist cut my hair.
For $ 60, I can do better.

There are some some people who have a real talent for cutting hair, and Lisa is one of them. Explained that I wanted a low a maintenance haircut, and I got exactly what I asked for. Am thrilled. It was a very relaxing experience.
Don’t be put off by the small space.

Lisa is great. She fixed a really messed up haircut of mine! She also doesn’t try to get you in every month, she tells me to come twice a year, so that my hair can continue to grow and be fixed!

Lisa is great. She listens to exactly what you want and can make it happen. I have longish hair on the thinner side and I’m really particular about cutting off too much length or over-​layering, and she got it just right. The blow out was good too. And the best part — $ 50 for a cut AND blow dry. You just will not find that price at a place this good anywhere else.
The only part that threw me off a little is that one girl washes your hair, Lisa cuts, and another girl blow dries. I asked if they split tips and they said yes, so it was fine. I believe Lisa does all the haircutting and coloring consultation/​mixing, so it’s nice to know that you’re going to get the same service every time you’re in the salon.

Haircut: The best I’ve had in a very, very long time! Her cut gave me the style, bounce and ease I’d been hoping for.
Price: reasonable at $ 48.00 — a far cry from the typical and not worth it $ 60.00 of the typicial Park Slope establishment.
Ease of Appt: great– she works late week day hours.

Just got the best haircut ever yet again i moved far from Park Slope to Queens and I still go through the trek to get to this place.
This is definitely a diamond in the rough for men’s haircuts.

New to the neighborhood and in search of a quality and affordable cut — I confidently can say that my search is over. Lisa did an amazing job with my hair, which is straight and cowlick-​ridden. It’s clear that she loves what she does and isn’t afraid to take creative risks, which in my case have paid off. I also got the impression that she’s in for the long haul with her customers. It’s refreshing to find a hair dresser/​stylist who excels as well as gives a damn about the human side of things. Highly recommended! I’ll be back.

I have been going here for a little more than a year. I stop in once every few months. I’m always happy with my haircut. I’m also way more surprised that Lisa always remembers who I am and what we talked about.

You’ll probably stop reading my review after this next sentence. But I am one of those go-​to-​the-​nearest-​GreatClips-​for-​a-​$ 10-​dollar-​haircut kind of girl. Haven’t met one? We are a rare bread.
If you are still reading, I have had my salon experiences and quite good ones at that. I just hate spending $ 50+ for a trim no one is going to notice, so I usually reserved my salon experiences for «my boyfriend just broke up with me» kind of visits.
That being said, I moved to New York (Park Slope) and become another one of those pretentious yuppies that doesn’t mind spending a little more for some quality pampering.

She squeezed me in last second, and I gave her very little direction of what I wanted (a.k.a throwing in random Zoey Deschanel references and haircut horror stories) and she got the cut and style on point. The cut was awesome, but the conversation was even better. I will definitely be back here to get a great hair cut or to dish on neighborhood gossip.

There wasn’t much of an introduction needed with Lisa. After meeting her, we jumped right into conversation (no uncomfortable silence like a lot of spots, no forced, rigid smalltalk like a lot of spots). She was even kind enough to offer help in my apartment and job hunt, taking my number and giving me a few leads to check out. A woman who deeply cares about her neighborhood and her work.
Anybody with a bad experience, try again. This isn’t a place so prideful in its ideas that you have to leave with whatever results you’re first given. Speak up about what you want and request adjustments if they’re necessary. A good hairdresser (read: Lisa) is performing a balancing act between their creative ideas and the vision in your head. Be clear about it, and trust that you’ll be heard. To read a complaint that your hair was left too long boggles my mind: Ask them to CUT MORE OFF… Amiright?

Sometimes it can be hard to find a place for a good men’s haircut. I was complaining to my boss that I’ve had nothing but lousy haircuts since I’ve moved to New York. He said, «Come on. We’re visiting Lisa.»
Then everything changed for the better.
Lisa gave me the best haircut that I’ve had in a long time. I gave her free reign to do whatever she wanted, and she broke me out of a stale style lock I had going on for 15 years. I was so impressed with her work. Many stylists can send you home with your hair looking great, but the next day it’s hard to get it just like they did. That’s not the case with Lisa. My hair still looks great a month later when it’s time to cut it again. In the past I just kind of felt blasé about my hair. Now when I see myself in the mirror, I love how it looks and even have a boost of confidence.
Beyond the actual haircut, Lisa builds a great experience for her clients. I tend to be reserved when I meet new people, but she knew how to pull me out of my shell. She tells stories constantly — the kind where you want to hear what she has to say next. She’s a lifetime Park Sloper and third generation stylist — so she has plenty of stories to tell.
To give you an idea of my enthusiasm, I traditionally don’t even talk about getting a haircut. However, each time I visit Lisa I tell everyone I encounter for the next few days. I don’t really write Unilocal reviews, but I spent 20 minutes on this because I want people to know how much I love her work. I’ve even blogged about her cuts twice. Every time I book an appointment with Lisa, I look forward to it for the rest of the day!

I came into this salon for a wash and blowout and it was done well. I am reading amazing reviews for haircuts, so I have yet to try that… but my blowout was a success. I left a happy customer. A little pricey at $ 30 bucks, but hey thats Park Slope, right? They have to pay rent too! LOL I would recommend!

So, I never know where to go to get a good men’s haircut. I’m a regular guy, with curly hair, and while anyone can cut it, only a few people can make me look really good.
There’s all the overpriced places near my office in midtown, but haircutters are in and out of those places like revolving doors. You end up paying $ 40 for a crummy cut.
Then there’s the places in Brooklyn. They’re either dirty «salons» where you’re the only guy in there, or they’re the barber shop down the street, which is fine, but they don’t know what to do with my curls.
Enter Nicole, at Lisa Lobue. I walked in off the street, and Nicole sat me down and knew exactly how my curly hair needed to be cut. The price was only $ 20! She made me look great and and I highly recommend her. Plus, the Lisa Lobue Salon is clean, staffed with friendly people, and they’ll even give you a shot of vodka on your way out! A+ guys, I’ll definitely be back.
