Mark and Steven Bornfeld DDS– the DentalTwins®,

…have lived most of their lives in Brooklyn since moving there in 1958. They attended P. S. 213 and J.H.S. 166 in East New York, and are graduates of Brooklyn Technical High School. Mark and Steve earned their Bachelor of Science degrees from Brooklyn College, and their Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees in 1976 from the New York University College of Dentistry, at which time they were inducted into the Omega Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. They respectively received their postdoctoral training at the Peninsula Hospital Center in Far Rockaway, NY, and the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, and have maintained a private dental practice together in Brooklyn since 1977.

Love love love the dental twins!
I’ve been going to Dr Bornfeld (Steven) for 20 years. My whole family has. He’s thoughtful and smart and always takes the time to explain everything to you (even when you don’t necessarily want to know). He’s done several fillings; none of which have ever had problems or issues and he’s just a nice guy. And his brother Mark is simply hilarious. They make a good team. Love them and Cathy (the sweetie receptionist)!

I am new to the area and after having a one on my front tooth break, I was in desperate need of immediate care. I found Dr. Mark Bornfeld online and am so thankful I did! I am a bit skittish in «the chair» but Dr. Bornfeld continually explained what he was doing and calmed my nerves immediately. As a previous Unilocaler noted, the office appears a bit dated but having had this procedure before I can say for sure that their equipment is not. This same bond cost me 4X as much to get done in San Diego. If the Bornfelds are keeping costs low by not having the latest décor, I am all for it! Thank you Dr. Bornfeld, my ‘new’ tooth looks and feels great. I have now found my new local dentist I will be back in for comprehensive care soon!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Bornfeld for ten years. I liked them so much that I switched my children to them, as well as my parents.
They know what they’re doing, they don’t do unnecessary work, and they’re about as gentle as a dentist can be.
(and they have Sunday and evening hours which is a plus for me)

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Bornfelds for a number of years, which for me has been mostly fillings, cleanings, checkups, etc. He is very communicative, letting you know exactly what’s happening at all times and why. I feel he’s a trustworthy neighborhood dentist who has his patients best interests at heart. Highly recommended.

I live in Manhattan, but have been making the trip to Brooklyn to Dr. Steven Bornfelds (AKA dental twin) office for 7+ years now. I’ve had a range of dental issues over the years, and have found him to always be expertly knowledgeable, taking the time to patiently explain any issue… His demeanor is kind, humorous and dare I say even makes the dreaded dental visit enjoyable. You can’t place enough value on a trustworthy doctor, and he’s definitely one of the good ones.

I found Dr. Bornfeld after being ripped off by another dentist. I found him to be gentle, competent and honest, all I ever wanted in a dentist. I was so satisfied that I changed my children from their pediatric dentist to Dr. Bornfeld. My daughter commented that he was much gentler.

Greetings, All.
I just returned home from my 6-​month exam with Steven Bornfeld. He is consistently a great practitioner, someone I’ve always recommended. I am prompted to write this update particularly because my mom recently mentioned that she now must wear dentures due to having had a poor childhood dentist who screwed up her teeth. It makes me feel very lucky that Dr. Bornfeld has been my dentist since I was 11 – over 30 years and counting :) The Bornfeld brothers are time-​tested.

I saw Mark after being ripped off by another dentist. My original dentist was young, had a new office, new equipment, a large staff, and great reviews. When I walked in, I thought I lucked out on my choice. Little did I know what was in store for my mouth and wallet. I was told that insurance would cover ½ of my expenses and that I had one good option to fix my broken filling. It was a costly one. It turned out that insurance DID NOT cover any of the procedure b/​c it was one of many options… an expensive one at that. I paid several hundred dollars and was NOT happy! The dentist wouldn’t even answer my questions on the phone.
Dr Bornfeld, on the other hand, was honest and took extra time to familiarize me with ALL of the options. It quickly became obvious that his 30+ years of experience allowed him to convey the many simple, and cheaper options available to me. I guess that’s the difference between a newbie dentist who sees you for 5 minutes then rushes off to the next victim and one who has seen it all, can convey the man choices, take the time to do a great job, and do his best to make sure you have the correct care. He could have easily given me a pricey option but didnt — I REALLY appreciate a medical professional who is out to HELP his patients instead of out to use them as an ATM machine. And to make my visit even better, he worked with my difficult insurance to make sure the visit was covered.

Everything is old and outdated here. They have no new technology, and it’s as if you were walking into a dentist office from the 1970s. They obviously can’t afford these things, hence why they make you pay upfront after your visit. I’ve never heard of such a practice and is the reason why I went to Park Slope to have better dental care.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Steven Bornfeld’s for about 6 years and I highly recommend his services. Dr. Bornfeld has always been courteous, professional and pleasant. Most importantly, on a number of occasions I’ve been impressed with his knowledge of current research developments in dentistry. I highly recommend Dr. Bornfeld – if you are in search of a dentist, please don’t hesitate – you will not be disappointed. The Bornfeld’s office is a short walk from the Avenue M stop – I take the B train from Park Slope and find it a convenient trip.
