Melinda’s Halal Meat Market

The best place to buy cevapi, a Balkan style sausage. It’s owned by a friend’s relative and he usually comes, chats with the owner and picks me up a couple of orders. I always have a rack of cevapi in my refrigerator. Although I do like to make cevapi Balkan style-​grilled usually in a pita with onions and avjar I prefer to eat it with rice. There’s just something that is so great with the fattiness of cevapi with rice, and perhaps a fried egg. MMMMmmm
The cevapi used to be $ 7 for 10 but due to economy it’s now $ 5 for 10. You can’t beat that. Also, they have other meats as well and note there is no pork products as it is Halal. Melinda’s also has canned goods and chocolates imported from the Balkans as well as a good variety of olives.
For those of you who don’t have a car, it’s somewhat of a trek to get out to Ridgewood. You have to take the L or take the M train.
