Sat down. Ordered sweetbreads. Got sweet plaintains instead. Mix up. She went to the kitchen to put in the order again, only to return with the news that they were out of sweetbreads. The whole time one of the cooks was standing a few feet away facing me with arms crossed. It stood out because I was one of two customers in the place. Paid for my drink and left hungry. This rating is based solely on my experience. No clue about the food.

OK, to start had empanadas.ehh.not impressed. I’ve had REAL Argentinian baked empandas in Jackson Heights. The rice and beans… ehh. OK not great. The plantains were very good, the fried yuca was delicious! Oh yea and Skirt Steak(Entraña) was sooooooo scrumptious! Juicy, not dry and flavorful!!! Oh and btw, THEYARENOTBRAZILIAN!

I ordered the Mr. BBQ sandwich and it was absolutely delicious for the price that I paid. Great stuff!

This place blows! I went with high expectations and left completely underwhelmed. The service was lackluster, but I can’t critique too harshly, as the waiter had very clearly just started. The food was bland and nothing to write home about(or to write on Unilocal about).

I would give this place stars for its plantains alone. Luckily, everything else is also wonderful. These are the best, most authentic empanadas I’ve found in New York. The beans are also very tasty. The bbq is amazing. This place is made of win. I had this review saved. But I had to knock a star off it before I posted it because of the chicken. Heck, if it weren’t for the empanadas I might have given it 3 stars based on the chicken. EVERYTHING else on the menu is great. But the chicken is sahara dry. I think I have paper with more moisture.

This place has 1 of the best skirt steaks I’ve ever had. Make sure 2 try the chimichuri seasoning. It could hold a better selections of beers, however Negra Modelo was good. Beans were different than ur traditional Carribean but tasted great. My lady said the flan dessert was also great. Had appetizers, drinks, main course & dessert all for $ 60

Came here for dinner a couple of weeks ago. Simple but nicely decorated place. There were two other parties in the restaurant at the time so it was pretty quiet. As we walked in, the woman behind the counter was busy whiting out parts of the menu. And of course, we were given the menu with the new and higher prices… lucky us. Both of us ordered skirt steak sandwiches with onion, which they charged $ 1 extra for each(pricy for a few strings of onions!) It was a mouth watering sandwich and we inhaled the entire cup of chimicurri sauce and had to ask for more. I loved the contrast between the hearty meat and the refreshing tanginess of the sauce. I also ordered a side of fried sweet plantains which was forgotten by both the staff and I until towards the end: P I wish I hadn’t walk in on them whiting out the menu. That was a bad start for me… knowing that I get to be the first to pay the higher prices :(All in all, I would still recommend you to give this place a try.

I live in the«twilight zone» of the Bushwick/Queens border(nicely stated, Pepper) and have ventured past during dinner time frequently. Sadly, dinner prices and unemployment did not mix. Now that I am both employed and off at lunchtime on Mondays, the timing was perfect! I loved the ambiance of the place with the brick walls and simple décor. I was outnumbered by staff 3 to 1 and treated very well! I tried the menu board special – choice of either steak, quarter chicken, or grilled chicken breast with rice and either beans or salad for $ 5.00. The server suggested the beef soup for $ 1.00 extra. The soup was the only disappointing part of the meal. Lots of beef hunks, a bit of potato, and an oily broth. Not so great. The rest of my meal was AWESOME. The beans were well seasoned and perfectly balanced with the rice when poured over. The beef was fresh from the grill and lightly seasoned. The waiter suggested the«green sauce» to top my steak. I fell in LOVE. Apparently chimichurri sauce is a combination of many of my fav. spices(I looked it up as soon as I got home). Had I found out it was made of ground babies and puppy dogs, I would still go back to order it again. Great for lunch. And for anything with chimichurri sauce. Try it!

I was craving BBQ one afternoon and I happened along Mr. BBQ. To my delight the ribs here are cooked just right. They use sauce but the BBQ taste more like dry rub. The rice & beans are fantastic, some of the best fresh beans in the neighborhood. The food is always fresh and the staff and ambiance are always mellow and polite. A great find much needed in the neighborhood.

I really really like this place. It is clean inside. I like the choice of music. The staff are nice and the meats are cooked perfectly. Everything i’ve tried has been delicious, even non-steak items. I went once with a friend who ordered two breaded chicken cutlets with fried egg on top and that was very tasty. I had a wonderful passion fruit(maracuya) drink with milk, although i thought it was a little pricey. I will continue returning and bringing friends.

I live in the neighborhood and this place is my favorite, by far. There’s really nothing else out here that comes close. If you’re at Jefferson visiting friends and you’re tired of North East Kingdom walk down Wyckoff to this place. You won’t regret it. Excellent latin grilled everything and you get plenty of it. My personal favorite is the pork chops. In fact as soon as I’m done typing I need some grilled meats. The dinner entrees aren’t super cheap, but you get a ton of food.

Forget the 5-star Zagat Rated 5 $$$$ restaurants, and come here for the ultimate grilled sweetbreads! The dish here went straight to my craveables list the minute my lingua experienced the source of the aroma that made my mouth water. In fact, I’m swallowing hard right now at the mere memory… The huge menu also encompasses chicken and seafood, but for a real carnivore you’ve got to get the steak. Now grilling requires a high level of mastery to cook each order of steak properly, and true to its cut. The grillmaster here is an expert. Everything came off the grill in perfect timing to deliver a full meal with apps and entrees in complete harmony with the already impeccable service. The textbook grill marks, my perfect medium rare steak, quality of the meat, and ideal grill aroma rivaled steaks i’ve had at some of manhattan’s snobbier steak houses. The dedication to grill perfection is obvious; the gleaming metal grill is impeccably cleaned and maintained, and the actual grill is kept clean, with no cross-contamination of different meats. Look for the crazy neon storefront, and come with your elastic waistband pants. At prices for the average person, portions to feed you another 2 meals, service fit for royalty, and orgasmic melt-in-your-mouth food, this place is a steal!

On a stretch of Wyckoff Ave. that is mostly berefit of restaurants, Mr. Barbeque looks quite appetizing with its bright lights and new sign. Inside, the place is quite clean with a nice bar overlooking the grill. Surprisingly, the menu does not have much chicken, which I thought would be a staple of the place. Indeed, it seems to try and do everything from seafood, to diner food, to barbque, to pasta. My experience was mixed. Everything I ate, from the bread to the chicken, was slightly burnt. The seasoning on the chicken was very nice, but it was all just too much grill for the poor little thing. I washed it down with a nice Negra Modelo, and was certainly filled for a nice price with the addition of rice and a fresh green salad. However, burnt is just not my style.
