New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge

Disappointed, only 2 out of 3 elevators ever work. I was there for work. Front desk always had a line. Waiting was long and problematic. To use business center you have to pay. NO hotels have pay business centers any longer. It was flooded with loud kids, I couldn’t get on the elevator any of the nights I was there. A terrible terrible experience. I won’t return, and will use another brand with a FREE BUSINESS center…

We are so excited to have our hotel block for our wedding here next year! The entire process has been so seamless, and the renovated hotel is just beautiful. The rooms are huge (for NYC standards) and the suite will be perfect for getting ready and our wedding night. We originally were working with the Nu hotel, but immediately after we saw the Marriott, there was no comparison!

Came down for a weekend visit. Check in at 7pm was lengthy –waiting for housekeeping to release a room. King room in the tower was on the top floor and remodeled within the past few days. A couple of issues, there was one drawer which was tiny. So anything that couldn’t be hung up was left in the suitcase. I also hate bed frames which extend pass the box spring and the mattress. Also the window kept popping open.
Another issue was the lack of a full service restaurant in the hotel. There’s plenty of options nearby, but I wanted something quick for breakfast. Ended up with a soggy breakfast bowl which I couldn’t finish. There is Panera Bread nearby and a French café behind the hotel in a plaza — La Defense.
The bed was comfortable and the water was hot for showers. Staff was friendly

Ooops! I accidentally gave a wrong review on my original review of this hotel. That is what happens when you wait nearly two months to write about it. Sheraton or Marriott… Tomato or Tomato-​e? My bad!
So, here is the review for this New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge and this review is only for their lobby and ballrooms. I was at a conference held at the hotel for three days. Although I wasn’t staying at the hotel, the Bell Service was always prompt to help me carry things in and out, and grab cars.
Due to technical difficulties on part of the hotel, the conference was without a wifi for a day (gasp!) which caused issues for some folks. One star deduction for that. The food they served during the conference which included continental-​style breakfast and buffet lunch were actually… Very good! The service was prompt and friendly. The plates were taken away promptly and the area was kept clean. The staff were overall friendly and eager to help, so I can’t complain.

I came here for a business workshop with about a hundred other employees. They organized the the tables, chairs, and food pretty well. Anything that we needed, a hotel employee got it for us rather quickly.
Their waiters/​waitresses gathered all the used dishes and utensils from our tables as soon as we were done. They would continuously look around for anyone that needed their attention.
My stay here was only for three hours and I took the train. No idea how the parking is and how the rooms are. Kinda wish there was a greeter since I got lost locating the area where the company meet was located.

Came to Marriot for a workshop and was originally excited that it was located in Brooklyn. But after a two hour commute to go 35 miles and being forced to valet at a higher rate I am disgusted. Everything I read on Marriots web site said you can self park at $ 14-​$ 16. When we got here all spots were roped off. For no apparent reason either. We were told by attendant the we HAD TO valet for $ 25.
At lunch we tried to go to café within the Marriot hotel and we were told that it was closed because «Marriot is In process of remodeling their rooms»!
What does remodeling rooms have to do with the café being open?! Horribly expensive unaccommodating place. Never again!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for a quick work trip.
As we were leaving, waiting for a taxi, the hotel light fixture that is outside fell and hit my boyfriend in the head. Luckily, it was a cold day and he was hearing a heavy jacket with a hood and didn’t get hurt.
No one was around to see this happened, so he decided to bring the fixture up to the front desk to let them know. When he brought it to the desk, the clerk asked him what happened and he told the story. The clerks response was, «Shit happens». My boyfriend then said «What? Shit happens?» and the Clerks response was, «Yes, shit happens in life».
As I was still outside waiting for him, I see an employee calling taxis. I then proceed to tell him the story. He response to me was «Oh, yeah. it happens. that one falls down all the time». My immediate thought is, this light fixture always falls and you don’t get it fixed? Someone could get seriously hurt.
My boyfriend then fills out a incident report with security, and then we have to catch a cab so we don’t miss our flight. As we’re in the cab driving away, we look back and they are pointing at the light fixture and laughing.
I am a loyal rewards member with Marriott and could not believe that this happened. We filed a complaint with Marriott, and the most they said to us was «Great, thank you for letting us know». How does this make my want to continue being a loyal guest at Marriott?

Came into NYC for a short family getaway. The hotel is maybe 5 minutes away from the Brooklyn Bridge.
Our room was upgraded from a lower level to one with a view. But, it was still 2 double beds. Queen beds would be nice.
I was surprised to even find a hotel like this in Brooklyn! They also have a nice sized pool and workout area. We also had access to the club lounge which gave us free snacks, drinks, and breakfast.
The staff was helpful. The room was clean with a mini fridge and coffee maker.
The parking can be confusing as you have to go the garage and take a ticket even if you are using valet parking.
Lots of families here as well as business travelers. We would stay here again, especially with access to the lounge. Without the lounge, we’d likely stay in Jersey!
*editing to add info: while not a main attraction, the TV is small. Half the channels aren’t digital and reception is spotty. TVs in the club lounge are bigger with no reception issues.

I expected this place to be magnificent since it looks so gorgeous. but it’s only Meh. When I go to a hotel (especially a Marriott) I expect excellent quality and I expect to get more out of it than if I stayed home. Welp. Not a chance. The tv is 32″ of standard quality picture and it’s not even a flat screen, the bed isn’t as comfy as my own at home. No Keurig machine, just subpar coffee and no creamer. I expected more for the money but maybe that’s just because I’m spoiled by Hampton Inn Suites. Oh also, NOTHING Is complementary here… no continental breakfast, not Wifi, not local calls… nothing.
I stayed here because we attended a wedding but other than that, I wouldn’t come back.
The only plus side is getting to the hotel was easy from the Bridge and check-​in/​out was a snap… also no bedbugs so that’s a plus, right? :)

A very nice 6 night stay. I prefer this more traditional property to the smaller boutique properties scattered about Brooklyn. The location is unbeatable so near the Jay Street subway stop. you can walk into Manhattan if the weather is nice or grab a subway to just about anywhere. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby. And the hotel property itself is well rune in Marriott fashion.

Probably the worst place I’ve ever stayed. So many things wrong. The room was a very long way from the elevator, 7^th floor overlooking the roof, not the Bridge, major hassle with Internet for both my husband & me, blackout drape was so worn that the light came thru directly on the bed, no room service, and on & on & on! Bar service in the evening was extremely slow. To add insult to injury it turned out there were bedbugs that enjoyed feasting on me (not my husband) at night. Didn’t realize I had been attacked until we left & I continue to have itchy welts on various parts of my body!!! All in all a very BAD experience. I wouldn’t stay there again if they gave me a free room for life!

Bad Experience
What a horrible experience! It started with parking the car. You pull into this hotel with no directions how to self park your car. (The only reason I didn’t valet was that 25 cars were waiting to valet, it would have taken all day to park). I finally find the lot entrance and see the attendant who won’t come up to my car. I call him over and he takes his time and finally acknowledges me. He tells me take a ticket and park my car 3 levels down. No directions of where the elevator to the hotel lobby is. So (and I tried to use some logic), I parked my car near the supposed elevator. The problem is that the hotel has 2 lobby elevators in the parking lot. One of them only allows you into the hotel with a room key and the other one has no signs near it. Of course I tried to get into the hotel in the elevator that I can’t use until I get a room key. So we have to drag our luggage up 3 flights of the parking garage to get into the lobby. The funny thing is as we left the hotel to go out for the night we saw other patrons experiencing the same issue we did.
Next is the check in. Of course it’s now 4pm and the room isn’t ready. They tell us they will call us when the room is available. We were in a hurry to catch a US Open tennis match and had to wait around for an hour and a half to finally check in. This ruined our dinner plans before the match.
Now the next problem is the room key. You need it to pull out of the parking garage, because we paid the hotel for a couple of nights of overnight parking. The damn key doesn’t work. The attendant has to get our room key revalidated, this takes another 10 minutes. We’re just sitting at the exit of the parking garage.
By the time we got out the hotel, we barely made the 7pm start of the match. We didn’t even have time to grab anything to eat.
Lastly checkout, usually this works on the TV but the service wasn’t working that day and all we wanted to do was drop off our room keys. This took another 20 minutes with only one attendant at the front desk during checkout time.
We will never use this Marriott location again, they basically almost ruined our visit to NY.

Stayed here last Saturday because I was in town for a wedding. Staff was very friendly and upgraded our room for no reason (love when that happens). Nice looking hotel and rooms were much more spacious than many hotels in the city. Hotel guests have garage parking with valet for $ 25 a day and you can come and go as many times as you please without an additional charge. Only complaint about the room was our fridge didn’t work so I couldn’t refrigerate the waters I brought but it wasn’t a big deal. I would stay here again if I’m in the area.

Room was clean but the rug either was recently cleaned with Something unpleasant or it really smells bad. My roommate thinks it’s just dusty smelling. That said the people here are really nice Steven Reynolds at the front desk was really nice and welcomed us graciously.

Warm beer and slow internet.
Was looking for a place to work for a few hours and willing to pay for it. Went to the hotel bar, tried all of their 5 or so WiFi networks, all of which were painfully horribly wretchedly slow (100 kbps), so a tepid $ 7 beer bought me exactly nothing. Could have saved myself $ 5 by going to Starbucks instead. Did I mention that I’m a Marriott Rewards member? What good did that do me? Absolutely nothing! If I’m willing to purchase something from you, then don’t nickel and dime me to death on something as stupid as internet access.

Pros: Clean and spacious rooms, friendly staff, Great location near subway transit, plenty of restaurants and eateries nearby, Nice lap pool and gym, fresh baked cookies in the lobby every evening, crib available if needed
Cons: fridge is slightly smaller than most hotels (no freezer), wifi confuses me I always worry about being charged or overcharged, TV system ports are conveniently located in one strip but… Issues with system. We brought xbox and Amazon TV and had issues. The TV audio always competes with any additional inputs say xbox or Amazon TV. My kids would watch a movie on xbox yet the audio would intermittently cut in and out and be superseded by the TV audio which you can’t turn off completely. Other than that glitch its great.
Would I stay here again? Yes! Rooms slightly larger than manhattan rooms so for a family with children I find it perfect. Plus not all hotels in nyc have pools so that is a big plus with kids.

Had a conference at the Marriott hotel, knowing that parking is a hassle and that you can’t park on the street until 7pm.
I searched online for the closest parking garage, which happens to be located next to or under the hotel.
Just an FYI if you arrive after 6pm its $ 20 dollars for the night

Overall the hotel is nice and clean however there are signs of deferred maintenance.
Even with the maintenance concerns, the room was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
The biggest upset is being charged for internet access. If this were a local dive motel, then I could understand charging for everything possible however this is a big name hotel.

In a nutshell: Decent business stay hotel across the bridge from Manhattan.
The perks of having other family members that travel a lot is that sometimes they accumulate points they never use. Sometimes these points expire, and sometimes your aunt hooks you up with a night’s stay with your cousins in the town where you are already staying with family.
I would have never chosen to stay here if my aunt hadn’t hooked us up with a room. I was pleasantly surprised by the experience, and we had quite a nice stay.
Room Service ³⁄₅
Quite expensive. We brought some food to eat instead. When we called down for place settings, they said they would charge a $ 5 service fee to the room! No way! So I went downstairs to the restaurant and kindly asked a service (who will forever remain nameless). I assume it’s for loss prevention… but still.
Location ⁵⁄₅
The area surrounding this hotel is great. Plenty of eateries (including a Shake Shack), and walking distance to the F train at Jay St./MetroTech to get you into the city.
Fitness Center/​Pool ⁴⁄₅
Fitness Center had everything I needed: Free weights, benches, and a few machines. They also had med balls and stability balls. There were also plenty of elliptical machines and treadmills. Pool was a good size and had ample room for laps. Hot tub fits 15, and the sauna was a plus.
Customer Service ⁴⁄₅
Good customer service from the gentlemen at the bar, and the front desk staff are courteous.

We weren’t in the room much, but it was a nice stay. Definitely took advantage of the fitness center. I’m still a little butt hurt about the $ 5 silverware charge. Shenanigans.
