Preface: I’ve never been to any other NYC hospital. They may all suck, I don’t know. Advice: Seriously unless you are actually dying do not come here. Once they’ve fixed you and demand to GTFOASAP. I suggest you start asking for discharge papers while you’re still actively trying to die, just in case. Door to cath lab time for my friend was appropriately fast. They had trouble with the defibrillator, so it’s a good thing he didn’t try to code in the middle of his heart attack. While in the cath lab they cleared the major blockage, and stented it. His care went down hill from there… I was taken in myself via ambulance(only way they would give me a breathing treatment was to go by ambulance) for a severe asthma attack. Not only was I not seen, but trying to find someone to discharge me was difficult. You’re seriously invisible unless you are dramatically dying, or manage to finagle a way get someone’s attention. Once I found a nurse to ask about leaving, she helped me find a doctor, who helped me with registration, and everyone was genuinely nice. I don’t doc them on the ER honestly, as I get the whole triage thing. It sucks, but it is what it is. 5 Stars for saving my friend, and not killing me. 0 stars for the care in recovery and on the tele floor.

Overall ok experience. Only thing that baffled me was I have been to many ERs and this by far is the most depressing. Most of the nurses seem miserable unkept and unhappy. One in particular must never have human contact by the way she spoke to me. I was sitting in the ER room with my brother where there were 2 Gurneys since there were no chairs I sat on the adjacent bed. A nurse comes in and yells are you a patient. I said NO he is. She waves her hand in a get the heck outta here motion saying«I need the bed I need the bed!!! 2hrs later bed is still vacant. She could have said hello I’m going to need this bed let’s find you a chair. I guess you don’t need home training to be a nurse. Have some manners and treat people with kindness. My mother has been a nurse for over 35 years and she tells me about animals like that woman. No one told her to become a nurse she should be working in a zoo with animals not humans. First off there shouldn’t even be more than 1 gurney in an ER room. Lennox Hill, Beth Israel, mount Sinai, hospital for special surgery, all better hospitals. Much nicer people who look the part working there. Too bad this is my home ER

I’m currently interning here and I love it. Atmosphere is clean and spot less and people here are very nice. Only bad thing around here is the parking. If you want to be in luck of getting good parking then you have to leave your house early. Other than that, there are a lot of food places around the neighborhood

My father was admitted here. While he was barely sitting up and loosing his strength, barely sitting up because in so much pain. had to run back and forth 5 time for someone to come and see him. And when the dr actually came in and my father barely keeping his eyes open because he was in so much pain, the fucking dumb ass dr asking him like he was going to get a response. Slow fucking service. Half off these people that work here don’t know what the fuck they are doing. And acting slow and fucking stupid. Had to curse some of these ass holes out to get some fucking service here.

I came into the ER with excruciating pain in my foot and severe swelling. Now I know that is not of topmost priority however there are many safety issues here. When I do get brought into the inside of the ER I was pointed in the direction of my gurney, I was not escorted by a medical professional nor was i orient to my space as in where the emergency call Bill is in case I need help. Safety violation number two, at least one side rail should be up so your patient doesn’t fall off the gurney. I have been laying there for over an hour, no one came. IV pumps are ringing alarms were going off and patients were crying for help and none of those were addressed. I am absolutely shocked. This is New York Presbyterian Methodist Hospital associated with the two biggest well-known hospitals in New York City, Cornell and Columbia. Thank God I myself am a medical professional and was able to advocate for myself. I am extremely shocked and disappointed. Finally a physician comes examines me give me a pill and says hang on I will write The prescription. Another hour went by. I was just given a high dose pain medication and the side rails are still down and no one has come by to even check on me. Appalled! Not every case in the emergency room is a trauma case but they still need to be treated. Of course I hope no one has to any ER just don’t come to this one.
