I would like to say Night of Joy is kind of out the way but not really. It is a place I had been hearing about for a while now. I happened to come here a few weeks ago, New Years Eve in fact. In Williamsburg and was looking for something sort of low key but crowded enough on NYE that I would still have fun. Fun was just right here, It was a good no cover experience compared to the $ 85 or $ 100 I would have spent somewhere else. Rooftop was closed the night me and my boy ended up here. You know had been looking forward to checking it out. Drinks at the front were actually strong, two bartenders slinging as best they could. It was $ 7 Vodka soda featured, not sure if all drinks were same price but Reyka Vodka was the drink. I didn’t hate it, of course it was no Kettel One either. Vodka was strong or at least just a good pour. The DJ’s were on point too. DJDEEDEE from the Dum Dum Girls made an appearance and so did Brandon from Flowers of Evil. Drinks were strong enough for me to return and I did enjoy seeing the other teams of Wingmen that night I guess trying to get lucky and you can’t…teach…That. There was plenty of chances, so it was go time and I had my wing man with me, how you doin? Crowded yes but not enough to spill those drinks, plenty of CHANCES when it hit that 8 to 10 mins to midnight feeling that went down. Freehold was nice spot to see earlier but glad I came here. Wish I saw the rooftop was whatever, I would come back and I really hope my drinks would be as strong as they served at 11:35 or whatever on December 31st, 2015. The bartenders were possibly just doing a service helping people get lit up for the celebration of the new year. Bathroom looked cool, kind of plain but very Williamsburg like.

I love this bar. But I’m not sure why. They desperately need another bathroom for the ladies and the drinks are only good if the female bartender who’s been there for years ISNOTTHEONE making them. Also she is a capital B word. I don’t know how she stays employed in the service industry. Clone the dudes that are behind the bar and you’ll be much better off. She distracts the good bartenders with her gossip and sucks at making a cocktail. Sorry sweetheart but someone needed to call you out.

I really wanted to love this place, I really did. The look is great, and maybe I should come back during the week when it is less crowded. The drinks are good, don’t get me wrong. I just got a weird crowded vibe from everyone. I will definitely try it again and come back with an update.

I do like this bar, especially when I am in the mood for a good and unique cocktail. It is pricey, but that kinda comes with the name of the craft cocktail business. Every time I’ve been, there has always been tons of obviously drunk people hanging around or in the bathrooms which is expected but also kind of annoying in a place that’s supposed to be for alcohol appreciators not abusers. The service is kind of slow and bad. This place seems to get really crowded really quick and it always seems like they never have enough bartenders. I’ve only ever been there in peak nights, but they haven’t been that friendly and don’t seem interested in helping you out or suggesting a drink, just in getting you in and out as quick as possible. It’s got a cool vibe and nice atmosphere and is a pretty good size with enough seating to chill. It’s pretty much in the heart of all the cool stuff in Williamsburg, but parking is rough and it’s a bit of a walk from public transit. It’s definitely an experience and has a unique menu that guarantees to give you something you’ve never tried before. Not a bad place for a date or girls night out. I would pop in if you are in the area, as long as you’re not watching your wallet.

I try not to go here. Night of joy sounds like the name of a high school prom. cornball a hang out here. Bartender told me I had to buy another drink when some random chick walked up and took my drink before I even got change for it. The. Walked to the other end of the bar. Bartender just looked at me like I was an idiot for asking if she could do something. So I left, haven’t been back. A little butt hurt about it.

Ok, I’ll admit it, I picked this place because of the name. What could possibly go wrong when you head out for Night of Joy drinks? A very chill space(think lots of candles), a great selection of eclectic but accessible music, a beautiful outdoor space and great happy hour prices. Maybe the cocktails were a bit small and too herbally for my taste, but they definitely did the trick. I even crashed my car on the way home(Kidding!) The bartenders are excellent. Very friendly but not intrusive and super responsive with all your orders. Remember that I mentioned there were lots of candles here? Well, the bartender Janelle, single-handily put out a small fire that was inches away from the bar’s collection of highly flammable booze, saving all of us patrons and more importantly, all of that delicious booze. What a hero! Oh yeah, if its a little too hip and new Williamsburg for you in here, and you are a bit crotchety like me, after you’ve had a few, I suggest you walk a few yards down the street to be transported back in time at Bamonte’s. Here, all of your cravings for red sauce, James Galdophini testimonials and 85 year-old surly waiters will both sober you up and clear up any of your fire related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Spacious bar with a huge upstairs roof area. The view of the bqe isn’t great, but the overall vibe of the bar more than makes up for it. Prices are pretty standard.

this place is great! good cocktails and comfortable vibes. I had my birthday here and a friend brought a jar of pickles because pickles are great. The bartenders weren’t even weird when I asked them if we could have extra shot glasses because we brought our own pickle juice. So thats cool. Also the patio is great, it just gets really busy late night.

The roof up here is a cool place to spend a warm summer Friday night. There’s a twenty-something wholesome crowd. Their teeth are white and straight, and their tattoos are small, tasteful and discreet. They probably all met at college or on tinder or both. It is a lovely space with reasonably priced drinks, and the young people made space for two aging lowlifes to sit in the corner.

Walked straight upstairs and was really confused at how this place came to be known as a «rooftop bar»(it’s really just a small patio with cool lights but no view at all) but this place had its own charm. The Happy Hour here is nice and cheap-I really appreciate that it includes their signature cocktails marked down. Definitely more chill and down-to-earth than most rooftop bars in Manhattan, so come here with an open mind and come early to take advantage of the happy hour and relatively smaller crowd.

Came here Saturday July 25, interesting place on the corner. It was very dark and I wasn’t really sure if I was at the right place bc there was no sign. Hipsters everywhere, rooftop was packed, No music but a full bar with a bunch of people socializing. Great margaritas with lime juice we only had one each and felt buzzed which is perfect. Old fashion décor, old school television and lounge couches. Very dark sexy sensual ambiance so it was good for a dAte night. Bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. No toilet paper. Paper all over. One stall. I would give this place 4 stars if bathroom was decent.

Generally cool décor and an awesome little rooftop. That’s where the positive comments end. For a «cocktail» bar, their selection of spirits is limited and terrible. And, their cocktail list is mostly vodkas. Not impressed. The bartenders are awful. I’ve worked in the industry for a very long time and hang out in bars almost every night, and this was some of the worst service I’ve experienced. The tall blond woman is totally dismissive and inattentive and clueless.

Night of Joy may just be my new favorite bar in Williamsburg. The downstairs is this really cool, old-timey bar and lounge, with dim lighting and plenty of seats. Definitely a great location for a first date or a place to kick back with some friends. If you go to the back and upstairs, however, there’s a really cute little outdoor patio with lights and plants. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a «rooftop» bar, but it’s perfect for soaking up the last bit of sun during happy hour. And speaking of happy hour… Night of Joy does it well. Their signature cocktails with infused alcohol are only $ 6, whereas I’d expect similar drinks in Manhattan to go for at least $ 12. Just make sure you really like the flavors of the alcohol, as they’re pretty strong. I enjoyed the orange blossom rum, whereas the lavender gin was way too potent and hard to drink. Happy hour ends at 8pm, so make sure to get there early, especially if you want to sit outside– the rooftop/patio fills up fast.

This bar flippin’ RULEZ for happy hour specials. They have an entire menu of festive libations for a mere $ 6 apiece, or beers for $ 4 from 5−8pm on weeknights. This means I bought an entire round of drinks for FOUR people for a measly $ 22, which is less than two drinks at most other joints. The jalapeño — my bev of choice — wasn’t as spicy as the Retox from Rye, but it was damn tasty and super refreshing on a balmy pre-summer evening.

There’s no joy in the service here, at Night of Joy, and a reported«rooftop bar» is in actuality more like an elevated patio, but hey, we’re in New York, what do you expect? The upstairs bar is great on nice evenings but it’s cash only. Downstairs is dim and divey, but the drinks are decent. I asked the bartendress if the place was named after the dive bar in «A Confederacy of Dunces» and she said yes — but sadly, no trace of Ignatius anywhere…

The highlight about Night of Joy was unexpectedly seeing my friends from work. This place is shit though. The bartender sucked. I want my $ 2 tip back! WTF. Nothing good about this joint. Except for the happy hour but the drinks are also shit.

More like Night of Horror. There was only one bartender, and she couldn’t mix drinks for shit. I got the Lavender gin which sounds good on paper, and only on paper. It was one of the shittiest drinks I’ve ever had. So shitty that we left the bar halfway through the drink because I couldn’t take it anymore. And I never waste alcohol. I’m just grateful I got it during happy hour because I would’ve been one pissed off bar patron if I had to pay full price for that. How the HELL did this shithole get four stars? And it stunk so bad. Stale air all around. Yuck!

Night of Joy is such a chill lounge/bar. There is ample seating on the first floor but their rooftop(which is only open in the warmer latter of the year) is where to hang out. The coziness factor is turned up so high on their roof. Seriously, you feel like you’re at your hipster friend’s backyard. I love coming here during happy hour which is everyday from 4 – 8. There you can order a beer for $ 4 or one of their house specialty cocktails for $ 6. The bar staff is very friendly and good looking. The specialty cocktails are some of the best I’ve tried in Brooklyn. They are very clean tasting and tasty. My favorites are the Bison Grass cocktail with goji berries if I’m feeling sweet and the Jalepeno if I’m feeling like growing a few chest hairs. I recommend coming here if you’re on a date pre-dinner drinks or if you’re with a couple of close friends that want an intimate more quiet bar setting. Skimming thru the reviews I saw a lot of complaints for the floral smell that is overwhelming for some. They do burn incense at the front of the bar so if you do find the smell of incense overwhelming sit in the back or upstairs.

Intriguing name, great music, lovely décor, tasty drinks. We walked in to the music of The Cure, ordered some drinks(a delicious basil lime vodka gimlet for me) and settled down on a couch that we had all to ourselves. The bartender was friendly and the vibe was chill & relaxed. What ruined it for us was the floral smell of the place. Judging from the reviews, you either love it or hate it. We hated it. The smell permeated the air so much that after a while our drinks tasted like it. My fiancé said that he felt like he was about to break out in hives. I know this sounds really dramatic but the incense or whatever they use is WAY too strong for my liking. We left after 1 drink. If not for that, this place would be 4 or 5 stars easily. If you’re not sensitive to strong scents, check this place out. The drinks & the atmosphere are great.
