wow. Don’t be fooled by the website( ) for this clinic claiming the facility is a «clean and modern, free standing, 20,000 square feet, state-of-the-art facility.» The website makes it sound as if the OBGYN Pavilion is a premier centre for women’s health in Brooklyn, a one-stop modern shop where women will feel comfortable and receive the highest quality of care. This was not my experience at all. Let me preface this review with the fact that I have seen 5 or 6GYN Doctors/clinics over the years in NYC because of a chronic condition. I made an appointment at the OBGYN Pavilion for a routine GYN need that any clinic/doctor can take care of. First, when I arrived I waited an hour after signing in before the receptionist even gave me the paperwork to fill out for a first time patient. Then the receptionist informed me that they«needed a urine sample.» When I asked why, since no one had even taken my chief medical complaint yet, she referred me to one of the forms that explained they do STD testing on all patients. I told her I wasn’t there for STD testing and she told me I could tell the Doctor when I saw her but still asked for my urine sample. ??? I have never encountered such a procedure at any other service provider in NYC. While the receptionist seemed to be implying I could opt out of the testing, I should be given that choice BEFORE I am asked to submit a sample of my body fluid and not asked to submit a sample for testing that has nothing to do with my medical complaint or testing that I said I don’t want to consent to. Next, when I finally saw the practitioner — it was not an OB/GYN at all but a nurse practitioner! A «premier» GYN clinic that is not even staffed by OB/GYN doctors! They claim on their website that their doctors are board certified OB/GYN. Where were the doctors? The clinic itself, while decent, was nothing special, and certainly not«modern, clean or large» as described by the website. The gleaming white halls and modern feel shown in pictures on the website were nowhere to be found. The website also shows pictures of medical staff in clean white coats smiling and helping patients, while the staff I encountered throughout my visit were wearing their street clothes and were markedly less polite and professional than I have encountered at other doctors offices around nyc. Then, I sat down for my consultation with the nurse practitioner and two sentences into my explanation of why I came she immediately started reaming me for not coming with my previous medical records and basically said she couldn’t help me without the records,… then asked me why I looked frustrated. What am I supposed to say after you have told me that it would be too difficult to provide any services to me because you don’t have previous lab results? She was combative and defensive and seemed miffed that I was there in her office with my complaint and no medical records. She did go ahead and do an exam and order some labs, which brings me to my last issue of this review. The lab is nothing like a «modern, state-of-the-art facility,» as the claim is made on the website. I have worked in Africa for the last ten years and this lab was similar to what I would see in basic clinics, with a few more fancy pieces of equipment. I was told to go in the Lab, a.k.a. a small, disorganized, messy room with two lab attendants and PAYFORMYLABSINADVANCE to the SAME lab technicians who were there performing the medical work! One of them kept saying that he didn’t know how much the tests cost, while the other kept telling him that she scribbled it down on a piece of paper for him. No standard forms were used to check which services were being provided. After scrambling around I signed a piece of paper for X amount and he called my credit card number into a service. Then they told me I was all set. Of course, an hour later, someone called from the clinic saying they had made a mistake and hadn’t charged me for all of the labs the nurse practitioner had ordered and could i please come back to run my credit card again for the additional amount? Are you kidding me? A normal doctor’s office/clinic would BILLME for the charges, especially since it was their oversight and not any fault of my own(and why are lab techs preparing the bills anyways??) — but no, they actually thought I should take another hour out of my day to travel back to the clinic so they could run my credit card again. In sum, this clinic was by far the worst of any OB/GYN office or clinic I have been to in NYC and does not in any way measure up to the claims made on its website. I just hope my credit card doesn’t get ripped off in the next few days after I gave the number to the lab techs for payment of services. From, Concerned Brooklyn Resident
