When I started coming here, I was 19 years-​old and my face looked like a pepperoni pizza. I’ve always had VERY sensitive skin and I broke out regularly. I was full of acne scars and my confidence was an absolute zero. Nothing ever seemed to work for me. I tried really expensive products, all-​natural products, but never seemed to have any luck. My older sister gets mild chemical peels and her skin is flawless. She was already seeing Dr. Holder and recommended her for me. My very first visit, Dr. Holder knew exactly what I was doing wrong with my skin care regiment and what I needed to do to clear up my skin. She recommended the same chemical peels that my sister gets and wrote me up a skin care regiment with affordable products that my skin absolutely LOVES! I’ve had five peels now and my skin is almost completely clear. I almost never wear any makeup because my skin is glowing and acne free! Dr. Holder is very thorough with me. She’s very mindful of the fact that I have very sensitive skin and always explains why she has me using certain products and what I should expect from them. I am now 20 years-​old and I honestly wish I would’ve gone to Dr. Holder sooner! My skin would’ve cleared up a long time ago and my confidence would’ve been through the roof this entire time!
I highly recommend the chemical peels that she offers. I was a little nervous at first, but after my very first one, I already noticed such an amazing difference! My skin started peeling maybe two days after the peel and some of my acne scars were gone, my pores were cleared out and my skin instantly felt smoother. My skin peeled as if I had a mild sunburn and my new skin wasn’t sensitive at all. I went to work and everything without it being insanely noticeable that my skin was peeling. I absolutely love it here and Dr. Holder is wonderful and her receptionist will make you feel right at home. These two lovely ladies have an amazing practice in Park Slope! I unfortunately have to move back to Florida for a bit, but I am planning on flying up to New York City not only to visit family, but to schedule my appointments with the only dermatologist I will ever see! I don’t trust anyone else after she did such an amazing job clearing up my skin!!! I wish I could give this place more than five stars!

I first met Dr. Holder when I was 12 years old. She was the first dermatologist to diagnosis me with eczema. I remember Dr. Holder being so kind and detailed with her regimen for me. During that first visit with her, Dr. Holder never once rushed me. She made sure that I was educated on what was going on with my skin. As her career advanced, Dr. Holder continued her practice at other locations. I was able to see her at her other offices for a while, but eventually fell out of touch with her. Fast forward to my late 20’s, I had a horrible break out over my face, eyelids, scalp, neck and ears. Initially I sought medical treatment from a random dermatologist from my insurance provider. After several visits to the insurance dermatologist, I was beyond frustrated. My condition worsened, and all I kept receiving was prescription after prescription. It seems the only thing that the insurance dermatologist got right was my diagnosis; seborric dermatitis. Fed up, I searched for Dr. Holder online. When I found her, I made my appointment immediately. Her receptionist was extremely professional on the phone; never once rushing me like most doctors offices tend to do. Upon my arrival, I knew immediately in my heart I had made the right decision. Not only was the aura of the office welcoming, modern, and warm but Dr. Holder’s care can not be compared. She examined me closely, asked detailed questions regarding my skin care regimen and came up with a detailed regimen for me immediately. She was also able to recommend high quality skin care products that my face responded to immediately. My face and neck began to clear up within 3 days of my following my customized regimen. I am so grateful for Dr. Holder. She is so talented and well-​versed in skin care. Her dedication to making your skin beautiful is very evident by the results that she is able to produce. I came here with a terrible rash on my hands and Dr. Holder was extremely cold, condescending and was forcing me to get a biopsy. She was extremely forceful and even yelled for her secretary to be a witness of me refusing to let her take a piece of my skin for analysis. She was pressuring me to return for an emergency biopsy the next day (a la cash only). I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone and ran out after giving her $ 200 in cash because she doesn’t accept health insurance.
The next day, I went to my dermatologist on Park Avenue in Manhattan that helped me and was shocked that Dr. Holder was so adamant about performing an on the spot biopsy. My doctor told me that a biopsy during such an early stage of a rash is unnecessary. I wish I would have never gone.

If i could give A ZERO i would… Dr. Holder was treating my non speaking English cousin for acne skin condition. Mind you, she does not take insurance so we were paying $ 200 every visit which was completely fine until now… My cousin went in the office and had a treatment that was regularly $ 200…she finished her treatment and told her that her service was now $ 250… How do you just raise your price out of no where without notifying your client of a $ 50 increase!!! This is not it, she left me a voice mail telling me that she left me two voice mails and that shes busy to return phone calls. She was extremely rude! just rude. She then switched phone lines and gave me to her receptionist!!! BAD BAD BUSINESS
My Advice, DO NOT SPEND YOUR $$$$ HERE!!! GO SOMEWHERE THAT SOMEONE WILL RESPECT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!

I had unexplained discoloration on my face and requested an appointment on her website and her office called me the same day and was able to see me that afternoon. The office is really nice and welcoming and is conveniently located.
Dr. Holder is on the «pushy» side and barely let’s you get a word in edge wise. I needed two different prescriptions to fix my issue and the Dr gave me a bunch of samples for one prescription, so I only had to purchase one cream, which was great!!! At the end of the day, my face cleared up from following her instructions and I would recommend.

Best Dermatologist I have ever had! I must say I was hesitant to go because of all of the negatives reviews on here but I have never had skin this beautiful in my life. I constantly get compliments.
She has a basement entrance to her office door but her office itself is on the second floor. I have had terrible eczema and have tried every product as an adult and child and have seen more than 20 dermatologist, but no one has gotten my skin this clear. I don’t have an acne problem so I can’t speak on that but I’m truly amazed at the way my skin has been after these peels.
The office is very clean, Dr. Holder and her staff and mother are incredibly nice.
Yes, I did spend a lot on products mostly outside of the office that she recommended but it truly worked.
I’m saddened to see such terrible reviews because she deserves the business.
She doesn’t take insurance but she did tell me that she works with insurances to get reimbursements, but I always end up paying out of pocket because I don’t like the dermatologists on my plan.
As a doctor myself I’m very critical but I’m so happy I found my lifelong dermatologist.

I came to Dr Holder after spending a small fortune on a «celebrity» dermatologist in the City. She does a great job, every bit as good and far more personable — I think the other reviewers might be some of those «snarky park slope types».

I went to Dr. Holder after reading all her stellar reviews. First of all she and her receptionist were extremely friendly and the office was comfortable.
BUT I have to be honest and report that I went in because I was having trouble finding an eye cream that wont irritate my eyes and $ 350 later I’m still in the same boat. She sent me home with very expensive products (that you can get at CVS for half the price, btw) and they don’t work for me. And the worst part is that Dr. Holder didn’t even look at me eyes, she heard the word «sensitive’ and was convinced she knew what would be perfect for me. Instead of sending me home with samples to try. She seemed like more of a business woman than a Dr. to me. I spoke to her office person about how unhappy I am and she said she was going to have the Dr. call me but I never got a call back. The ‘beauty tech’ at Duane Reade could have given me the same information for free.
