Established in 1994.

Paws N Claws have been a staple of Bay Ridge Brooklyn since 1994. Owned and operatored by Mary Jane since the beginning. Although the staff has evolved through the years, the commitment and passion for your pet (family member) has remained the same. Throughout the years Paws n Claws have participated in community events such as the annual Dog Costume contest now in its 16th year and counting and helping provide for strays. Mary Jane and her staff take great pride in providing quality cuts in all breeds of dogs and cats.

My dog has the groomer but you can tell the employees here love what they do and always have a smile even when my 10lb dog is growling at them lol, but be sure to have an appointment especially on weekends

We’ve brought my dog here a few times. While everyone is nice, the last time I picked up my dog, she came home with a cough and FLEAS which then gave her an ear infection!

We take our adult cat here to have his nails clipped … Super quick — they get the job done… Sometimes not as well as others but I’m just glad I don’t have to do it. My cat is a squirmer

Paws N Claws is fantastic. We moved back with our dog to the US after 8 years of living overseas and they were recommended to us by a family friend. Friendly staff and environment, and they take the time to understand any special requests you may have. Our dog always comes out looking great and I can tell that she is not stressed out by the experience, which is a huge relief for any dog owner who takes their dog to a new groomer.

My best friend and I have been bringing our pups here for about 2 years now. Both are fairly small dogs, so they don’t need more than 2 – 3 hair cuts a year. We found this place because we wanted something closer to home, instead of traveling to park slope. Paws N Claws always accommodates appointments for when you want to come in, they are very nice on the phone and in person! My little yorkie gets extremely matted, and they always take care of him here. He always comes out happy and energetic, whereas other places he looks miserable and lethargic. I highly recommend this location to everyone who lives in Bay Ridge, the doggy’s are always groomed to perfection and taken care off. Out of the times I have been here there is always 1 – 2 people dropping off or picking up! Give this place a shot!

I love this place!!! Its the only place I can take my 2 year shorkie to without her frantically getting traumatized and clinging to me for dear life! Its so hard to find a place that you feel comfortable with and someone had recommended this place to me after they had heard me complaining about the last place I had taken Bella to. I have been bringing her here for about 8 months now and I have been so please! The people there are amazing — so gentle, caring and receptive to my Bella! Its not like all the other places that I have been to before. Bella always gets soo many knots and the groomer there does such an amazing job detangling and cutting her hair just the I like it. I have recommended this place to my friends/​family and when you try this place you and your dog will probably feel the same way that Bella and I do!

Can I give negative stars? Stay AWAY from Paws n Claws on 69th and Colonial. They shaved my poor pup’s ears so closely you could see skin — then a day later they turned red and started scabbing. At first I was annoyed because they shaved him too short all over, but that seems minor compared to bleeding, irritated ears. They also called me 3 times in 30 minutes (Around 3:30 pm) because they wanted to leave early as I was walking on my way to pick him up. First and last time here. Disgusting & completely unprofessional! Hope they go out of business soon & are replaced by a quality groomer.

Paws N Claws is a good groomers depending on who is working. My family has been bringing our dogs here for years now. There were a few times we didn’t like their cut but we Told them not to do that for next time. There was one incident where they clipped my dogs nail wrong and I discovered it while playing with him. It ended up getting infected, had to have surgery, and racked up an expensive vet bill. We were upset but we took a risk and still bring our dogs here. No incidents since then but I always squeeze my dogs paws every time to check after they are groomed.

We brought our dog here once before in the past. The haircut was good. But…she came back dramatized! She was drooling from the mouth she was hiding under the bed when we got back! She has been to other groomers before never had a drooling problem or her being scared! Recently my girl Mimi has passed away so never had the chance of leaving a review for this place I passed by the other day and remembered bringing her to this dreadful place! I just wanna spread the message to other owners for the future.

Lucy has been going to Paws N Claws for 2 years. She is a medium-​sized goldendoodle with A LOT of hair so her baths take several hours. When she leaves Paws N Claws, she looks great and smells great. They do an amazing job. Most importantly, they treat her well! Whenever we pull up to the shop, Lucy stands up and starts wagging her tail; she is happy to go there! We constantly get stopped on the street by people asking who her groomer is. As for the person who left a review about the nick her dog got; it happens! Dogs wiggle and turn suddenly. They also could snap or try to bite. It’s not an easy job. My father got nicked on the ear by his barber of 25 years too! LOL In any event, Paws & Claws does a great job, treats the animals so well, and are always accommodating.

I’ve been taking my cats here to get their claws trimmed for over two years (and my b/​f takes his dog to have grooming done). Every time I let them know one of my cats is a fighter, never had a problem and always leave a good tip in the jar because they have never complained. This morning I was turned away. I don’t know if they have new staff or didn’t feel like dealing with it anymore, but It came as a shock to me. My boyfriends dog can sometimes be super hyper so now he doesn’t want to drop him off there in case he acts up and they can’t handle it.

This is a terrible groomer. We went here once when we first moved to Bay Ridge (about 1 yr ago). Unilocal reviews looked ok, but boy were we wrong. In hindsight we should’ve asked more questions and asked about their experience with working with puppies. This was our dog’s first grooming and they got something in his eye! We had to flush it daily for a week straight to stop the irritation. Luckily we have an eye doctor friend and she gave us advice that time otherwise it would’ve been the grooming bill plush a vet consultation.
Learning from that we went to Barkingham Palace — cut wasn’t as nice but at least they didn’t hurt my dog’s eyes.
Last week, Barkingham (they have a new name now) wasn’t open the day we wanted to get him groomed, so we gave this place a 2nd try. Once again, stupid decision! They nicked him between the legs! He kept licking it, and we had to take him the vet! A grooming that should’ve cost us about $ 60 ended up being nearly $ 150!
Save your money and don’t let these guys hurt your pet! Never going back again!

This is my go to place for my yorkie Prince. He leaves looking cuter than ever and smelling amazing. The staff seems very friendly each time. They are a bit pricey but I am willing to pay the extra money knowing my Prince is getting great service. Also, the bandana that they tie around your pet when you pick them up is an extra cute touch.

I have brought my maine coon here several times and he always comes out looking beautiful, and sauntering around the apartment afterward, fluffy tail held high. Pretty sure I caught him checking himself out in the mirror afterward.
The staff at Paws & Claws are very professional, timely, and gentle with my baby. I am very happy with them and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Horrible groomer — one of my dog’s leg hair was cut shorter than the other. He looks lopsided!!! He was cut like a shitzu and he’s a yorkie. My younger puppy was sent home bleeding and without a hair cut and without an explanation for either. They are supposed to be open until 4 p.m., but called me at 3:30 shouting that they needed to close. I was running behind because I had to bring cash as their credit card machine was broken, and when I explained I’d be there in a minute, I was hung up on. Never bring your dogs here unless you want them traumatized and with bad or no haircuts.
