Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop

Due to a wait at Sweet Chick semi-​nearby, I went on a mission to find Peter Pan. This Unilocal-​famous donut shop has been on my list of to-​visits for a long, long time. It’s not too crazy crowded, at least in the afternoon, but the ordering part is a little overwhelming and hectic. I felt really really rushed and didn’t even have 30 seconds to figure out what I wanted so I stood up at the register like a noob. There is a little bit of seating inside, but I wouldn’t count on actually getting a seat unless you’re willing to wait.
Donuts are 1 for $ 1.10, 2 for $ 2.20, 3 for $ 3.30… you catch the drift. It’s funny because their menu actually goes like that… up til $ 9.90… and then you get 10 for $ 11.00.
For my first time, I got the following:
— red velvet cream crumb — the cream is light and the red velvet crumbs are yum! I would have liked if there was some sort of cream cheese incorporated into this.
— sour cream cake — a little on the sweet side, but a good choice for a cake donut
— coconut cream — they said this was the most popular here, but I honestly thought the red velvet and sour cream were better. It really depends on your preference. It’s a regular yeast donut with cream and coconut flakes on top.
Overall, a cheap, rather tasty donut compared to the rest of the donut shops out there, but I would have to say it’s not my favorite. Peter Pan is good for your normal run-​of-​the-​mill type donuts, but if you’re looking for something special/​different, you’ll have to shell out more $$ and head to Dough, Doughnut Plant, Doughnut Project, etc.

This place totally puts Dunkin donuts to shame. I walked in early on a Sunday morning and to my surprise there was no line (last time there was a little bit of a wait). The workers were very friendly and quick. I ordered the red velvet and vanilla cream crumb donuts. After my first bite of the red velvet I knew their donuts were freshly made. It was moist, fluffy, and had a hint of chocolate which is what makes red velvet donuts so good. The cream crumb was equally delicious. I will definitely be back to try their blueberry donuts.

Ordered: Red velvet, blueberry buttermilk, and sour cream donut
Pros – All the donuts were fresh, not overly heavy, and had the perfect balance of sweetness. The red velvet was the winner, but the blueberry was a close second. The blueberry donut had large chunks of blueberry, which added a nice contrast in texture. I’d like to come back again and try out their stuffed donuts, which they seem to be known for.
Cons – The sour cream donut tasted like a regular old fashioned donut.

This place is super good for cake donuts, which I usually don’t like.
I’ve brought people here twice after finding it on Unilocal.Both times I and friends/​family really enjoyed it. It has a very down to earth feel on the inside but the donuts speak for themselves. There’s a good variety, nothing too crazy, but simply made well.
I think they could really get more of a seating area because I would have liked to sit both times I went. Also beware that you may be taken for a tourist if you go, I have. Still, awesome donuts that are less expensive than other fancy donut shops, go ahead and take me for a tourist.

These donuts are what donuts are meant to be. Creative favors without charging you an arm and a leg like some places.
Because that are so cheap, this allow people without a huge disposable income to try a few favors.

Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop is quick and to the point. There tends to be a line here during peak hours, so I can see locals being antsy when someone is taking longer than usual to order. This place is a no frills place and CASH only. What is great here though is that the donuts are very affordable at $ 1.10 a piece, cheaper than many of the other popular doughnut options in NYC. I definitely feel thrown back in time coming in here, as this establishment has been around for over 60 years. There is a reason why Peter Pan has been able to live through all those years, and it is because their doughnuts are great!
I bought a variety of donuts that I would take to-​go and try. If you want to eat your doughnut here, there are some long tables and seats you can relax to enjoy your doughnut and coffee before you venture back outside.
They are known for their cake donuts here, and with 60+ years of experience, they make them very well. My favorite ones here are the Toasted Coconut and Red Velvet. It’s a nice touch to bite into the Red Velvet doughnut and then see the bright red cake inside… soo good! The Honey Dip and Blueberry Cake doughnuts as also a nice choice to have. As for the filling-​doughnuts, I got the Apple Crumb, and boy. that was satisfying to have as well!
I can see this place sticking around for a long time. Now all they need is to FIND that Peter Pan and hire him as their delivery boy, so I can get some of these doughnuts more often and try more flavors!

Yummy selection of donuts. Had the bavarian filled donut as well as the apple crisp and both were excellent. Things move fast here so if you hesitate too much the works will move on to the next person.

Peter Pan Donut is definitely one of the top places in the New York area for doughnuts. The doughnuts are on the dense side and are packed with flavor. I recommend the blueberry cake and red velvet cake doughnuts, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. They have every style imaginable!
I liked the retro style counter space in a zig zag shape which offered about ten seats for patrons who wanted to dine in. Note, they also offer coffee, milkshakes, and egg creams.

Il né faut jamais dire jamais c’est bien connu. Malgré ça, je me disais que, jamais un donuts né serait ma gourmandise favorite. Cette boulangerie est probablement en mesure de me faire mentir, du moment que les siens se révéleront toujours aussi bon.
On est parti jusqu’à Greenpoint à Brooklyn pour se procurer ce saint graal. Vu de la rue, la boutique est jolie, décoré pour l’occasion au couleur des fêtes de noël récemment terminé. J’avais peur de rencontrer énormément de monde à patienter dedans et en dehors pour en avoir un. Que dalle, bien sur on a du faire une petite file d’attente mais rien de décourageant, trois minutes après on était au comptoir.
C’était pas plus mal cette petite attente, ça nous as permis de prendre le temps d’en choisir deux parmi la vingtaine de parfums proposés. On peut commander à emporter ou sur place. Les gagnants sont donc «chocolate coconuts» et «red velvet».
J’avais eu vent du prix de ses pâtisseries, mais j’ai tout de même demandé renseignement vu qu’il n’est pas affiché. C’est très important à savoir car ça peut facilement pousser à s’en prendre plusieurs. C’est seulement 1,10 $ à l’unité … Vraiment ahurissant quand on sait qu’ils sont fait maison et que le prix moyen pour un seul n’importe où ailleurs est en général de 3 $ minimum.
Ce qui rends l’affaire totalement dingue c’est que c’est aussi délicieux, léger à la dégustation, pas du tout lourd à la finition que son tarif est riquiqui. j’en ai pour le moment, mangé aucun de semblable et si c’était possible, je serais bien capable de passer tout les jours à cette adresse pour ma ration de donuts orgasmique.

Location: A small family –run donut place located in Brooklyn Greenpoint area. This place is small where you basically barely have the chance to sit if the crowds were here. At least, that’s the case for me. I pushed myself into this little shop and wondered what I should order. Everything looks not fantastic, I do not know why. And for non-​cake-​donut-​lover, this place turned to a pain in the bottom hole because I have to pick cake donut to eat otherwise, I have to leave. Then, I was pushed forward by people and it seemed like they are so starving that they barely can wait in line.
I looked around and finally decided that I may need to give it a try since last time I were in Moe’s doughnut place, I did have a great time.
Donut: I had coconut chocolate cake doughnut, and bavarian cream donut (which is not cake doughnut) I would say that they are really good at baking cake doughnut for sure. The chocolate cake doughnut is as delicious as Moe’s. I would never critique their cake doughnut for sure. But the fried donut is bland. Cream is not tasty either. I had this moment, when I first bit the bavarian cream donut, that I wanted to throw it to the trash can.
Ugh
Service: the service is impatient and rushed me to hell. But the price is only 1.1/donut. So cheap.
Overall: I would give it a 3.5 stars.
Final word to the fellow Unilocal: if you are a fan of cake doughnut, this is the right place. If you are a fried-​doughnut fan like me, let’s party at Dough or Doughnut plant.

Peter Pan’s makes my teeth hurt. Sweet girls with even sweeter accents, serving you sugary delicious desserts (or breakfast in my case). OH. MY. GOD. The toasted coconut donut was out of this world. The shelves were stocked with oodles of old-​school style donuts (no crazy matcha-​gogiberry donuts here). It was a hard, rushed decision on what I wanted — but I made the right choice… or perhaps one of many correct ones?
Bagels were distinctly Brooklyn style, toasted and not too chewy. They just happened to overload the butter and create a bit of a slippery mess on the seat of the car. No biggie. They invented napkins for a reason.
Décor is dated, but I do love the classic wrap around luncheonette-​bar to eat your delicious food at. Prices are extremely inoffensive and the morning coffee was a few pegs about the foldgers-​like deli standard. Will undoubtedly be back to stuff my face like Homer Simpson.

Old school classic donuts, old school classic diner vibe, old school uniformed service.
Long lines, quick service. Cops are always in line.
If you want a regular old fashioned inexpensive donut, this is great spot.
If you want a fancy foo foo $ 3+ hipster donut, stop complaining and go elsewhere.
Personal Top 3: Sour cream cake, honey dip and toasted coconut. Everything I had was good and donuts cost about a buck. Go to town.

I’m a big believer that everyone should try a Peter Pan donut just once. They offer traditional donuts with awesome glazes. Its not Dough or Doughnut plant but Peter Pan offers an experience to remember.

Best donuts ever! Jelly donuts — paczki are light and airy and delicious. Always fresh and the French cream filled are amazing. Must go if you’re in the area!

Simple, fresh, and incredibly affordable — I’m so glad I don’t live near it or I’d be here every day. You can’t go wrong with the glazed, and my favorite is actually the red velvet donut. (Ask for it with icecream)
These aren’t the best donuts I’ve ever had, but the quality and freshness is way up there.

After being in my bookmark for so long, finally tried this place yesterday. The donuts are cheap-​$ 1 donuts. I got 5, paid $ 5.05.
There was a line so I waited maybe 5minutes? Not too bad.
We had two coconut white cream, a chocolate crueller, a chocolate frosted donut, and apple crumb donut.
They were good, but they didn’t taste fresh. I wouldn’t travel all the way out here for donuts.
Dough or doughnut plant is better

This place has the creativity that you’d expect from some ‘artsy-fartsy’/snooty «patisserie», but rolled into your no frills, casual coffee shop. And at like $ 1.10 a pop, this was my Black Friday steal of the day. This outing, I opted for the whole wheat and the sour cream. The sour cream donut has super light and fluffy (and delicious) and the whole wheat is nice and cakey with hint of cinnamon, really nice. You can’t go wrong with any doughnut here… expect maybe just getting one.

Peter Pan Donut and Pastry shop looks like a lunchenette from the 50’s. But the donuts are UNREAL. I purchased 10 donuts for $ 10 this morning (great deal) and every single donut was on point. I got the blueberry buttermilk, red velvet, red velvet cronut, apple crumb donut and the pumpkin one because the girl said it was the most popular seasonal one. The best two were the blueberry and apple crumb.

Made an effort to hop off the G to venture to this part of Brooklyn to try the donuts. And it was well worth it! I had:

The Blueberry Buttermilk was DELICIOUS! I’m a big fan of blueberry so this was right up my alley and I lucked out because it was fresh and warm. Awesome, soft texture of the actual donut without being too bread-​y and balanced glazem which gives it a bit of a slight crunch when you bite into it. What I appreciate is that it’s a good old fashioned donut shop, without feeling complicated and it shows in the reasonable price. This could be a little heavy for some, so feel free to wash it down with some milk!

Really good, old-​school donuts, but I’m not sure if it’s worth a subway ride and transfer from Manhattan. I got the Bavarian cream donut and red velvet cruller. The Bavarian cream is the best I’ve tasted anywhere, and they certainly don’t skimp on filling each donut. It’s covered in powdered sugar, though, which will get all over your face and clothes. The red velvet cruller was more like a glazed cake donut and almost as good. I hope one day they open up a Manhattan location or partner with cafes or specialty shops to carry their donuts, like Dough does.

The first time I had a Peter Pan donut I was in the office and the boss brought in a dozen for all of us to share. I was able to enjoy the donut but I hadn’t been able to get the entire Peter Pan Donut shop experience until yesterday…
Wow…
When I arrived around 9:45ish Saturday morning the place had a line literally wrapping around the entire perimeter of the room. PP isn’t a large establishment… its maybe a 12×14′ room with two sets of counters/​stools situated right in the middle taking up a good amount of space. Once I made my way to the back of the line I found that it moved quickly enough. There were probably 15 people in front of me when I got in line and I was at the counter ordering probably ¹⁵⁄₂₀ minutes later.
Lucky for me they still had plenty of donuts to choose from at 10am and were even bringing out new trays as I stood there. I ended up with 4 different kinds:
Strawberry frosted: Compared to the others I ordered this one was the only yeast one I tried yesterday. Usually I’m a cake donut gal but I couldn’t pass up the hot pink frosting and sprinkles. So glad I made this my first treat of the day. The donut was soooo light and airy. And that frosting! It had an amazing true sweet strawberry flavor, it actually tasted like a strawberry as opposed to a overly sugared frosting.
Chocolate Glaze and the Old Fashioned Glaze: Both were stellar, no-​frills moist cake donuts with a thin layer of plain glaze. The cake donuts at Peter Pan are amazing.
and finally — Red Velvet: I stand by the initial review — if I were asked to choose between a slice of red velvet cake and a red velvet donut — I’d pick the donut. Their signature donut is still a must try.
I’m pretty sure you can’ go wrong with anything you order at Peter Pan.

Oh — and one more thing — I stopped back in to PP for some coffee on my way back to the train and at around 2:30pm there were plenty of donuts on the shelf. So if you don’t want to spend your morning in line — sleep in and visit after lunch.

I didn’t know what to expect and I was very surprised. I walked in and ordered myself a toasted coconut doughnut and honey dip doughnut. I had no idea how cheap these doughnuts were going to be! $ 2.20 later, I walked out with two tasting looking doughnuts. I must say, the coconut looked amaaaaaaazing! Now, these aren’t gourmet like Dough or Doughnut Plant, so they won’t look all fancy. But don’t let that sway you.
These doughnuts have a very doughy, chewy texture, which is exactly how I like it. Unlike other toasted coconut doughnuts, this one punches you right in the face. You get exactly what you asked for: a crapload of coconut flavor in every bite. I think this toasted coconut was way better than the one at Dough.
The Honey Dip had the perfect amount of sweetness. I saved this one until the end of the day, and it was still delicious as ever!
If you are looking for an amazingly simple everyday doughnut shop without all the fanciness and price, this is an absolute must!

I was super excited about trying the famous donuts and other baked goods after hearing so many great things about this place. The first time I visited it was damn near closing time so I wasn’t surprised to see the limited choices to try. The place does remind of you the old skool delis like from that old TV show «Alice.» LOL I don’t even remember buying anything the first time but it motivated me to come earlier in the day the next time so I can check out all of my options which is what I did. I made a second trip the following week midday and it was more crowded than the last time I was there. I saw more items to choose from, however, the items I wanted they had ran out of already. I definitely understand why if the donuts are just $ 1.
I eventually tried the chocolate cake and red velvet cake donuts that were good but not oooh aahh, the best I ever had. I also had the chocolate glazed and strawberry glazed that taste like vanilla and they were good too and filled your sugar needs. However, what is ooh ahhh is that apple fritter that’s not $ 1 but $ 2 and change and worth every penny. OMG, for you sweet tooth lovers like myself you will fall in love with this sugary and apple tasting big piece of dough with pieces of apples inside. This has to be one of my favorite snacks especially when it’s still fresh and still a little warm.
This bakery is definitely a place to check out and make sure come as early as possible so you can have options on what you want and not settle for what’s left after all the good stuff is gone. LOL

Les meilleurs donuts de Brooklyn tout simplement. On hésite à entrer, le nom fait un peu Walt Disney mais on est loin du Dunkin Donut du coin de la rue.
