I never expected to review funeral homes, but Piro’s was one I always respected. I come from the neighborhood, and we had my nona’s services at Piro’s as well as my dad’s, and sadly, earlier this month, my mom’s.
The price was reasonable, and the professionalism and good service they provide made this incredibly easy. I didn’t feel pressured in any way, and Ron’s advice and suggestions were incredibly helpful in ensuring we sent off my mom appropriately. He gave us his number, and encouraged us to text him if anything came up, and his responses were very quick. It’s got to be a difficult job, and his patience, calm, good humor, and impeccable way of handling grieving people in a quiet and respectful manner were very much appreciated.
For Fort Greene, the location is very convenient, and the building is well taken care of and tastefully well appointed.
If you’ve lost a loved one, I would whole-​heartedly recommend Piro’s. At the risk of being morbid, this experience has taught me to get my own affairs in order in the event of an unexpected passing, and I’m going to stipulate that Piro’s handle the arrangements.

When I found out my dad had terminal cancer I did not know what to do. I prayed that he would be o.k. and live for a few more years, however, the practical side of me knew I should think about funeral arrangements in advance. I don’t live in NY and my dad did not live in Brooklyn but he was born in Brooklyn and most of his family and friends live there; so I knew he would want his funeral to be held in Brooklyn. I went on line and searched for funeral homes in Brooklyn and found a positive review about Piro. I called Piro and spoke to Ron, the funeral director. I didn’t provide my name but described the situation and asked many questions. Ron answered all of my questions and told me to call anytime with any additional questions. He told me that he would answer my questions regardless of whether I chose his business. I did call a few more times and on one occassion I spoke to Angelica the other director and she could not immediately answer my question. However, she contacted the appropriate entity to obtain a response for me and then called me right back with an answer. All of these interactions were prior to my dad’s death. When my dad passed away I was set on using Piro. However, my siblings had not had the experience I had with Piro and they wanted to look at other funeral homes. We looked at 3 additional funeral homes and they also were so comfortable with Angelica that we decided on Piro. We were so satisfied. The service and care we received during this very difficult time was unforgettable. Angelica took care of the services for our dad in a warm and caring way. She was always calm and comforting and when she said she was going to do something she did it! She was knowlegeable and had all of the answers. The job she did preparing my dad for his final viewing was amazing! My mom said he looked like he did when they met; which was over 50 years ago. On the day of the funeral I relayed a story to Ron about my dad’s love of white chocolate and also a story about having bought my dad Kit Kat bars prior to his death. Before the service Ron came to me and handed me a black plastic bag. When I opened it I was almost in tears. He had gotten me 2 white chocolate Kit Kat bars. During the service I shared them with my siblings as a toast to my dad. This act represents the type of caring, thoughtful, compassionate service you will get from Ron and Angelica at Piro. We are so grateful for them.

piro funeral home is the absolute best!!! i say that speaking from my heart. as you know having to deal with death is one of the most hardest and emotionally draining time one can experience in life. they not only did one funeral for me they did two. being only 20 years old when i lost my mother unexpectadly due to asthma my sisters family and i walked into piro lost. we spoke to ron and he was a gem from the start. he was straight fwd no hidden numbers and very helpful. he helped us do everything and even got us through the service. having to bury my adopted mom 2 years after my birth mom i was lost. ron came through yet again with outstanding service !!! it was unbeileivable remarkable kind hearted and giving. i could not replace all the help and gratitude i received by ron and his staff. it made dealing with the hardest times in my life a little bit easrer!!! he went above and beyond! i will forever be grateful. i always reccommand them to anybody in need!!! great service !! that cant be duplicated!!! when dealing with such a sensative and heartbreaking matter great, kind, and exceptionalservice with remarkable prices goes a long way. id used their service again.

It’s impossible for me to believe that no one has written here about how great this establishment is. Our teen-​aged son was killed in a subway accident last December, and Ron and Angelica treated us like family throughout the entire process. When we were calling around to find a funeral home (having no prior experience with this process), Ron offered to have us call him back with any questions, even if we did not use their services! When it turned out that their price was also the most reasonable we found by far (and did not include any «hidden fees»), we were happy to use them. They have supported us even to today, when I had to call Ron to ask him to fax a copy of their bill to me in the middle of a filing process at Surrogate’s Court. He did so within five minutes, no questions asked. I myself am in a service business, and I’m sad to say that businesses like Piro are now few and far between. We kept waiting for the «gotcha» and it has never come. I can recommend Piro with no hesitation whatsoever.
