Prominis Medical Services

I do not recommend this place. I had an exam and Pap smear performed here. It is not a pretty building but that’s fine. I saw a nurse practitioner Ms. Kim who did the exam. We then talked about IUDs vs birth control. She informed me that birth control increases your risk of cancer. I questioned her and she reiterated her fact. I’m in the medical profession and should have noticed this red flag. She then personally booked me an appointment for an IUD consult for two months later, the earliest they had. When I arrived at the appointment, they informed me that they did not place IUDs there. In addition, Ms. Kim told me I would need to take a medication to dilate my cervix prior to my appointment for IUD placement. The OBGYN informed me this is largely out of favor. Use zoc doc or reviews and find a better place.

Can someone please tell me how they were finally able to get a medical record from this place?
I have tried email, their online patient portal (the username they gave me has never worked), calling (no one ever answers or calls back).
I’ve even had doctors send requests to them with no luck. Anyone? Help?

This place is just awful. I have to give credit where credit is due: Jennifer Allen was the first dr I saw through prominis (at their prospect heights location), and she was amazing! Loved her both as a person, and how patient and attentive she was as a practitioner.
The next time I go in, for a sinus infection at the dekalb location, they schedule me with Dr. Kim. He seemed in a rush, and also didn’t really seem to listen well. And then once i made this appt, they refused to let me see any other doctor for a checkup. Like I chose dr Kim as my doc for life when I happened to get sick and needed to see someone immediately!
The waiting room here is small and always crowded. You feel like you’re going to get sick just sitting there. Which is unfortunate because you’ll be sitting there AWHILE.
And that may be because they are scheduling people without confirming them! Yep. Made an appt a few weeks ago for a checkup, got busy with moving and had to cancel, so I did so 24 hours ahead of time. No one answered. I left a message: «I’m moving to a different city so I will probably be getting a different pcp anyhow. Need to cancel this appt, etc.»
Totally did not listen to the message (also, FYI like the 100^th time I called and no one answered). They didn’t listen to the message and then they called me wondering where I was the next day! And then, again, without TALKING to me at all since I scheduled the initial checkup, they rescheduled the appointment! Awful awful awful organizational skills here. Not impressed at all. Happy to move on!

If I could go negative I would, I am a medical records clerk at another doctor’s office trying to get medical records for a patient. I sent the release a month ago and still have not recieved a response. I tried calling them this afternoon and so far no one has come to the phone its been 22 minutes and counting. This is absolutely ridiculous. I can’t wait to get a hold of their manager.

If you don’t mind being put on hold, having excessive beeping in your ear and no one EVER coming back to the phone… this is the place for you :-) Appointment times mean nothing so don’t bother. I have gone from using a doctor here as my primary (he was excellent… Dr. Fenyves is missed) to «if there are no other options». I have (or should I say ‘HAD’ as I have no intentions of keeping) an appointment today but since I can’t seem to get past the front desk and don’t have an extra 4 hours to spare I’m going to pass.
I will say that I’ve never had a problem with the actual doctors; well except the one who left me sitting in the waiting room while I was having an asthma attack (intentional sarcasm while I give the side-​eye but I digress). With the one exception, I have found them to be very knowledgeable, concerned for my well-​being, and thorough. Unfortunately I have also come out sick after going in for routine exams because I was surrounded by… wait for it… sick people coughing all over me for hours in the too small waiting room.
I wonder if I showed up 2 ½ hours late for my appointment would I still be able to be seen? I don’t think so. There are actually patients who have jobs which isn’t taken into consideration. Although the location is convenient, dealing with an unprofessional front desk staff, increased aggravation, and overall wasted time not so much. I guess I’m headed to Manhattan.

Really wish that I could give this place a zero. I had bloodwork done, a very very simple test. It took six days and about 12 phone calls for them to tell me that they lost my bloodwork. I also waited 2.5 hours for my appointment where they put a walkin ahead of me. Please stay away from here.

This is a medical practice with multiple locations.
Excellent clinicians — I had some serious health scares lately and happened to need some urgent attention. I therefore saw not only my regular doctor (Dr Kim the male), but also Dr Jaradeh at their new — and really nice– Bed-​Stuy location and also Dr Kim the female (She is apparently a nurse practitioner not a doctor, but she is just as good a clinician for sure as any doc out there). Their knowledge was superb and they spent time with me to go through all issues, did not rush the visit through as some other places.
Staff is excellent, even though time to time the office got so busy that some stress surfaced, but they handled professionally.
Summary: great office people and excellent docs, wait time could be better but it is worth it. I tried other practices in NY when I lived in the Bronx but none compared.

It’s hard to review a place where I’ve had both great and horrible experiences.
The bad:
The waiting room is too small, and the water cooler is always empty or there are no cups.
One of the doctors once ordered a blood test after my visit, when I was in horrible pain. I waited over 2.5 hours to get my blood drawn, and the times I approached the front desk to get an update, they were rude and hostile. I ended up being the last one to get blood drawn before the staff went home.
In general, some (but not all) of the front desk staff are needlessly unpleasant. Several of them will not say anything to you as you approach, and if you wait patiently for them to have a minute to talk, you’ll get snapped at. I try to be patient and not to be demanding, and it often backfires.
There is a nurse practitioner and doctor husband/​wife team named the Kims. Avoid them at all cost if you need someone to listen to your problem and treat you with a shred of humanity. I wasted over a month of my life in horrible pain because neither of them would take my complaints seriously, and give me proper medication or proper referrals to specialists. They even sent me for an MRI that only included part of the problematic area of my back. If you have to BEG for pain relief, something is really wrong, and I sure as hell don’t appreciate being treated like a junkie when all I wanted was the pain relief to be able to eat, sleep, and work.
The good:
The physical therapist Joe is a great guy, and a real professional. My first visit with him included an anatomy lesson. He showed me models and charts and explained why I was in pain, and what we were going to do about it. He is also very attentive and conversational. Each visit he helps you achieve some pain relief, and gives new exercises to work on at home. Working with him as contributed significantly to my injury recovery, and I am thankful for the way he treats me as a patient.
There’s also a nurse practitioner at Prominis named Jennifer Allen. In my adult life I have never had a doctor show as much concern and attention for my well-​being. She’s great at her job, and after spending so much time trying to find a doctor that gave a damn about my condition, I cannot express what a relief it was to have my first appointment with her.
My experience with Prominis and a few other places over the last few months has taught me the importance of having an advocate in the system. Dr. Allen has been my advocate in dealing with other specialists, and generally going out of her way to help me. I’m so grateful to have found such a caring professional.
Summary: 5 stars for Joe Mauro and Jennifer Allen, 1 star for the rest.

Yesterday was my first time going to Prominis Medical for a simple check up. First of all, the wait time was horrendous and secondly, the staff was horrible. Mainly, one particular staff member. I believe her name is Kasa (I might be spelling her name incorrectly). As I sat in the waiting room that clearly needs to be renovated, a patient walked up to the front desk when her name was not called to ask for a doctor’s note for her job and Kasa yelled at the lady «If your name is not called why did you come up to the front!». Maybe the lady mistakenly heard her name, but that does not excuse the inappropriate and not to mention unprofessional behavior this staff member took with her. Later on I realized that she is the manager, I do not understand how she is allowed to supervise an entire office when she cannot talk to a patient in a proper manner. She needs to be FIRED IMMEDIATELY!!! I will NEVER go back to that clinic!

This medical practice is just great. I have to say the waiting room needs to be bigger, there is a little crowding here time to time. But what I can tell from my experience and the interactions with other patients, it is worth it to endure the occasional crowding.
have seen many doctors and nurses here, and they were excellent. They did care, they went through all my medical issues and took time to explain things.
I was seen by dr Kim several times at this and one of their other Prominis locations on 5^th Ave in Park Slope, and got a great impression. He showed a caring but professional attitude. He paid attention to my immediate complaint, and at the same time did not forget to pay attention to all those previous issues from my reflux to the asthma etc. He did admonish me as well on my smoking habits as part of the reviewing of old issues.
I think the owners pay attention a lot to customer service (I have seen some sort of a manager training them about some new protocol), and aside from the occasional snags that are expected, the front desk and other support staff is doing a remarkable job navigating the maze of the healthcare system, insurances, authorizations, forms, phone calls and all.

I cannot even begin to describe how terrible my recent visit to Prominis was.
I was in a desperate state, running a fever with terrible aches and nausea following a cellulitis infection. I did not have a regular GP yet, and this place was close by and took my insurance, so I made an appointment.
The waiting area is sad. No great pains were put into making it terribly welcoming or comforting. The receptionists were nice enough, though.
The real issue here is Patricia, the nurse. God help you if you get stuck with her. How someone like her has a job while so many other competent professionals don’t is beyond me. She is so awful i thought it had to be a joke.
My visit started with her phoning in an order for an apple pie a la mode. She never closed the door while gathering my information or even when she asked me to lift my shirt to do an EKG. Mid-​way through, her food arrived, and she LET THE DELIVERY MAN INTO MY PRIVATE ROOM to drop it off. She paused from doing my exam to pay him, then started making a personal call on her cell.
When she did speak to me, she was extremely rude. She asked me if I was Pakistani and said I looked like a doctor… which is basically racist for «you south Asians are all the same.» And did I mention she can’t spell? She was asking ME how to spell lymph nodes.
Part way through, a doctor phoned in, angrily asking her why a patient had been waiting 1.5 hours to be seen by her. She had no answers.
The real kicker came when she asked me if I was sexually active. I said I was not. And she asked me «why not?» I assure you this was not a medically necessary question.
The doctor himself wasn’t bad, but any place that would actually hire this woman and entrust the health and well being of the public to a woman like Patricia does not get my vote of confidence.

The staff is nice and they have weekend and early evening hours. The biggest problem with this place is the wait time. I have waited 2 hours past my scheduled appointment time and have had to leave without being seen due to the ridiculous wait times. Expect to wait at least an hour past your scheduled time slot.
