I went into this store yesterday and was instantly and constantly harassed by the floor and counterpersons: «Can I help you find something?» is fine but to keep pestering me as though I could be a shoplifter or something is another issue. It was clear they did not want me in the store.
I asked for an mp3 player and they looked at me as though I was an old coot and said they do not carry them anymore. So I said that in that case I would like to browse. As I did they watched me like hawks, making me feel very uncomfortable.
Radio Shack should think twice about employing young people with tech skills who look down on the over 50 set who are not so tech oriented and are just asking questions. These people should be trained to chat up a customer in a friendly manner because that customer would be more inclined to buy something the salesperson recommends.
These two employees made me feel like never setting foot in this store again. And I won’t!

Friendly, knowledgable, attentive articulate customer service goes a LONG way. The first time I came here just to buy a phone charger, the monotonous, Daria-​esque employee gave me one option to purchase even though there were a few other cheaper selections. When I asked what the differences were, she couldn’t explain and then proceeded to text on her phone while I was at the counter purchasing the charger.
I also came in another time as a Sprint customer with a phone inquiry. Slightly better and friendlier service but the employee could not locate the corporate Sprint store for me in Chelsea unless I could provide her with a zip code (yes, I had to look it up on my phone for her while she was in front of the store computer, which defeated the purpose). And while I hate to sound conservative, excessive makeup and piercings, long fake nails, arm tats and gum-​popping coupled with the cluelessness do not bode so well. Would suggest walking over to La Bagel Delight to observe some basic customer service skills.

Mohammed repaired my iphone and gave me lots of freebie parts in the job. He rocks and this is a convenient way to fix a wet cracked screen.

Whenever I come to this store, I aways feels like it’s always out of stock… But most importantly, I feel like the staff is too cool or too busy to answer my measly, peasly questions. One reedeming factor and her name is Patrice… Whenever she is there, I do not mind braving the sarcastic eyebrow liftings and not so covert smircks from the other employees, that usually accompanies my technically challenged questions. She is friendly, knowledgeable without being smug and genuinely cares about helping you understand «why is this happening to my cell phone!!!» and solve your problems. Having a great store employee can really make or break a business, and Radioschack lucked out with Patrice. I will keep coming back as long as I see her when I look in the storefront from the outside.

Second time in three months that I have come to this store based on «in-​stock» information on the web site, only to discover that they don’t carry the product category any more (two different product families). Ok, the company’s struggling, and ok, perhaps I should have called and not trusted the web site. So, two stars, not one star. But I’m disappointed that they wasted my time with such a casual «Oops,» particularly since the company is trying to rebrand itself as one that gets technology.

Went into this branch this morning to exchange something that wasn’t working. Didn’t have my receipt so offered by card so they could find proof of purchase, unfortunately it wasn’t there. I understand that company policy means they can’t exchange/​refund/​offer credit without proof of purchase but what really annoyed me was that the manager LAWRENCE had the audacity to suggest that I hadn’t bought the product! I was livid and when I told him I didn’t appreciate being accused of theft he just walked off. I promised to send a complaint and have done but I also want other customers to know that this branch has the rudest manager with a complete disregard for customers. What a moron!!!

Want to buy an iPhone? Think a $ 5 iPhone 5 upgrade is a good deal on a trade in? What do you think losing 6 months to a year of all your two children’s pictures (ages 3 and 5) and video clips is worth? Priceless? If a Radio Shack sales person holds up your old iPhone and tells you that now that you’ve traded it in, she or he is going to delete all the data,… think to yourself, have I backed up all the things that are important to me on that iPhone to a computer or cloud.
Radio Shack corporate, you might want to check yourself. Is it possible that Apple might decide they no longer think it is a good idea if you sell their phones?
I called Ryan at this store and he assured me of two things,… 1.) he will always ask his customers if their data is backed up to a computer before a trade in and 2.) he didn’t do it, he wasn’t working at the store on 5÷23÷2013.

So my brother was due for an upgrade. We came here because the AT&T retailer up the street didn’t have the iPhone in stock! Well, Radio Shack only had the white one, so we settled for that.
The sales employee was of great help. He explained the difference between the Apple Care insurance versus the AT&T insurance. He also transferred everything to the phone, except the music. It was a long process, but the employee kept us entertained and in continual conversation.
The phone cases were crazy expensive though. We’ll venture to Amazon for that…

Went there for a few electronic components. Wasn’t sure how I’d be treated based on other reviews here, especially since I wasn’t buying a big-​ticket item like a phone or anything, but I was (I thought) the nearest to my house, so off i went.
Back of the store had those drawers full of bits and pieces, just like I remembered from my childhood. Found some of what I wanted quickly since I knew the part numbers from the website, but one thing was missing even though it was listed as ‘present’ on the web. Sales guy wandered over and offered to help. Took my part number, double checked the drawers and website, agreed it was supposed to be here, but missing.
He called the nearest store (5^th Ave, Brooklyn) and confirmed they had my part, and asked them to hold it for me. Turns out that store was actually closer to me by a bit too.
Was good service by all involved. Glad to have met the sales guy i did. Tall dark-​haired guy, forgot his name but he says he graduated from Xavarian HS a few years ago. Good job. Would rate 4 stars if they had more inventory.

The idea of this site is to review YOUR experience in the store/​establishment, not to pass judgement on others’ experience there, which may have been entirely different to your’s and which you didn’t experience firsthand. I had a bad experience at that store. It doesn’t mean everyone will.

The person who was waited on ahead of me followed me out of the store to say he had had several similar experiences of rude customer service at the 7^th Ave. location, but really needed to buy something that day so returned.
And I should note that I recently went to the Radioshack near the Atlantic Center, where I was waited on by a very nice guy, who was extremely helpful and friendly.

I went to this Radio Shack to find a power supply for a 30 year old drum machine. It turned into a kind of Iron Chef like challenge that the employees here willingly took on. I dropped by on 3 separate occasions and every time they were personable, tried super hard to be helpful, and had a sense of humor. They were really patient even though the store didn’t stand to make more than $ 25 on the deal, and I probably wasted way too much of their time. But they seemed genuinely interested in helping and never once tried to rush me.
An employee dug up a service manual online and looked through it, and even spent 10 minutes on the phone with the manufacturer, who knew less than nothing. Just when I was ready to cut my losses and get out of the store, an employee encouraged me to try a final option. It worked like a charm, and miraculously my 30 year old Lazarus sparked to life!
I’m giving four stars, since it would have been cool if the employees had a bit more in-​depth training in electronics. But they more than made up for it with their stellar can-​do attitude, and generosity with their time.
Have to wonder if the other reviews are written by the type of rude customers that even other customers roll their eyes at. Beating up the in-​store help because another store has better deals? Give respect to get respect.
It’s true the store is modest-​sized, but I like the vibe here, and I look forward to coming here again.

Remember that old Avis line: «When you’re #2, you try harder»? Radio Shack’s line is «When you’re #2,000, try obnoxious.»
If you are wondering why Radio Shack is going bankrupt, check out the store on 7^th Ave in Park Slope. Rude, ill-​informed staff and OBSCENELY over-​priced merchandise. Radio Shack’s website has the same stuff for less, and ANY other store has the same stuff at still lower prices. Pathetic. But worst of all is the indignant attitude of the indifferent staff when you point out that better quality is available nearby for less.

The employees here couldn’t care less. I’ve gotten better service at a bus station. Not a good experience. But, if you need something that they sell, do what you gotta do.

Most Radio Shacks are laid out pretty much the same and this one didn’t disappoint. It has a little less floorspace as you enter than its sister store on 5^th Avenue but with the same goodies. There’s probably even something that looks remotely like a 14-​B.
