Description

Specialties

We are a unique East Williamsburg vintage shop with a nearby warehouse & online store. We carry a full array of vintage eyeglasses & vintage bicycles. We specialize in midcentury, industrial & distressed farm furniture and wares. Many smaller items such as typewriters, 8 mm cameras, projectors, distressed mirrors, 1960’s artwork, patio garden furniture, retro lamps, 1950’s fans etc. are sold at affordable costs due to the warehouse profile/smaller retail footprint.

Props: We also carry in the same above themes, an online array of props for the media industries such as vintage TVs, radios, «extinct technology», retro motor homes and trailers, unique industrial & farm equipment. Great finds for that highly worn or distressed aesthetic.

History

Established in 2209.

Retrogreen: Repurpose objects of the past. A counterpoint to today’s throwaway culture. This is my credo & sums up my passion for what objects of the past could tell us about who we are today. This is not a blog diatribe started a few months ago but a deliberate continuous journey crisscrossing this nation. Many of the themes are in the NY Times article: «A Life in Brooklyn Takes a Wide Turn» What is seemly discarded today is our reverence for people who embody a tremendous knowledge– a life experience– they are «pre-net». Some like to travel to the Beach, I, as an owner of a full woodworking shop & believer of the work ethic in NYC, like to travel to find people who ran a sewing factory or tinkered with TV repair. Somehow in viewing their old photos and appreciating their life experiences, as a collective of people, I am able to find vintage objects. My true interests is fleshing out the story/people of objects of the past. My selling & trading is to support this interest.

Business Owner

I run a fully equipped woodworking/cabinetmaking shop here in Brooklyn, NYC. We have completed projects ranging from the Guggenheim Museum, Ellis Island Museum to commercial & private residences. I am steeped in touch up and repair work which positions me to repair or touch up vintage items so they can be reused. Because I am skilled based, I am able to exchange towards others who have divergent skills. These are some of my most meaningful relationships I have & how I find continuity with those who seek out resourcefulness & appreciation of the work ethic.
