Robicelli’s Bakery

I bought the cranberry meringue pie for Christmas. The pie was a big hit with everyone.
The ordering process was easy– either in person, on the phone, or online. Delivery is also available for Brooklyn residents for either $ 10 or $ 15– depending on where you live.
Price is a bit steep, but it’s a great product. And a pie is cheaper than a pie from Four and Twenty Blackbirds.
I do wish they would stay open a bit later around holiday time for pick– ups. For those of us who get out at 5 pm, to then travel to south Bay Ridge, walk over, and try to make it there before the bakery closes at 6 pm– was quite a race.
Alas, my review won’t be super relevant anymore since they are moving. Good luck in Baltimore!

Today was the last day for Robicelli’s Bakery in Bay Ridge. I was the last customer at 5:05PM. I ordered the tres leche cupcake and it was delicious! The cake, itself, was moist and sweet. I don’t know, if they used real vanilla bean but it didn’t taste like vanilla extract. The frosting was amazing. It wasn’t too sweet.
I’m going to miss you Robicelli. I hope to see you when I make a trip to Baltimore.

By accident, I just happened to pass by. WOW! A cupcake fanatic’s delight! BUT DAMN! They are relocating to BALTIMORE! A customer advised me to try the Bea Arthur Cupcake (cream cheese icing on blackout chocolate cake. Must make a trip back before December 24 (closing date) to grab more cupcakes before this Brooklyn legend is no more. Heard that the Ebenger’s Blackout Cupcakes are da bomb.

What a great little bakery in bay ridge. It’s very unassuming but their baked goods are amazing. It is a little pricey but worth it .When you want a delicious amazing ice cream sandwich in the summer time the one I had here hands down best thing I put into my mouth. I wish they had their famous chicken and waffle cupcake when I came here but they didn’t. Maybe I will get a chance to try it in the future.

The worse cupcake I have ever eaten. Hard to bite, awful frosting (butter) and it was frozen cold. $ 3.5 for a cupcake the size of a golf ball? Really not sure where is the hype for this place. Never again

I have only made one purchase from Robicelli’s so far, but it was completely on point. I had asked them to make a Mandel bread for me, because there is not a single bakery in bay ridge that even know what it was lol which they were more than obliging to make and it was great, aside from that they were very pleasant and more than accommodating on honoring the price that was quoted to me, everything looks and smells and i think i gained 5 pounds from just smelling it, next up is the Nutella Lasagna, cant wait to try it

I proudly wear the extra 20 pounds I think I have gained since I moved around the corner from this buttery nirvana of baked goodness that is Robichelli’s. Scones are out of site perfect and delicious and just the right amount of moist on the inside. Cupcakes… yes. Get on that Brooklyn Blackout cupcake and I dare your eyes not
to roll in the back of your head because it’s that good. The cinnamon rolls and the blondies and seriously one of the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever had the pleasure in dipping in an icey glass of milk. Get thee to Robichelli’s but please leave some delicious baked goods for me!

They are know for Nutella Lasagna, which is tasty however the last two times I’ve schlepped out here they didn’t have it… How do you not stock your most popular item? There’s no way they sell out… They are in bay ridge far away! Every time I go there, there’s like 2 people at most in the store. This place is a scam to entice you to come and then they don’t have what they advertise. I won’t be going back. You shouldn’t go either or else you will be disappointed.

I floated into this place allures by the buttery aroma in the air. No joke– I could smell the flakey pastries from more than a block away.
This bakery is a staple in the area. The bakers are helpful, funny, and friendly. The kitchen is large, and bakers can always be seen working. The display case is rather small but packed with goods that make my pancreas hurt just looking at them– Nutella lasagna (I know), plump organic coconut macaroons, cupcakes, and cookies. The Jersey cookie is a unique and not so sweet treat made with a cornmeal and blueberry batter. It’s the perfect balance between sweet or savory, crisp and doughy, happiness and sunshine.

Wow. Seriously disappointed with these cupcakes. After hearing such good things about this bakery, I was actually shocked to try this and have it taste the way it did. My husband and I got the BK Blackout, the Tres Leches, and the Banana Nutella. The first bite is like biting into a stick of butter. Literally, I think that’s what the icing is. Just butter. With a bit of food coloring. Butter. The flavors in the cake were totally lacking. Everything just kind of tasted like vanilla with perhaps a hint of whatever flavor the cupcake was supposed to be. We also got a brownie, which was FAR superior to the cupcakes so this place at least has that going for it. The prices are decent, but why would you want to pay for this?

If your metabolism can handle it, go and enjoy your life! The cookies and cupcakes at Robicelli’s were free of dye and artificial ingredients. How dare I walk into this establishment and ask for a red velvet cupcake! Nevertheless I did score a yummy banana nut cupcake topped with mocha frosting and sweetened nuts. The staff was were very friendly and were very helpful in explaining the different flavors of the day. My only gripe would be that I don’t think the batter for the cookies were mixed well. I often had bites that seem to hold more salt in one area than others. I’m not a cookie expert but I know when I have fallen in love with a dessert. Maybe on the next go around.

It’s more than just cupcakes! Matt and Allison Robicelli are creative and caring. They care about what they put in their baked goods, which translate to their care for you. Their flavors may seem over the top but nothing is, hit you over the head, need a root canal, overly too sweet.
They have a toy kitchen as well as other toys for the enjoyment of the kids. The big kids can come, sit at the few chairs they have, enjoy some Stumptown coffee and a treat while the little kids are playing.
The cooking classes are a real treat as well! Being taught by these two is not only fun but incredibly informative!

Meh. High prices.
Not very good. I had a cupcake and my friend had Nutella lasagne. Nutella was $ 7 and the slice was so small like 2 bites and gone. CraZy.
Cupcake wasn’t very good just like a waste of calories. And no seating.

This place only opened a little over a year ago and has already become legendary. Just look at the pictures and go here. You won’t be disappointed. The owners are also lovely people who are from Brooklyn.

I have never given a bakery one star but I was so disappointed with the flavor of the frosting and dryness of the cake. My first bite of the tres leches cupcake was like — I think I need a huge glass of milk to get this down. The buttercream frosting unfortunately was like biting into a stick of unsalted butter. It was not sweet, it was greasy and had no flavor. I also ordered a strawberry shortcake for Mother’s Day. It just had little pieces of strawberries in it, and again the cake was dry and it just lacked any flavor and sweetness overall, especially in the cream filling and frosting. I brought it work the next day to share but no one even touched it. That can’t be good.
But I did think the people were nice enough and I so wanted to love their cake but do I dare go back and try something else? Maybe a cookie or that brownie everyone’s talking about but will steer clear of any cakes, sorry.
P. S. Maybe it’s just me but the inside of the bakery is kinda dark and unappealing and not so clean and where was that wafting aroma of baked goods? Hmmm. It should be a place that makes you want to eat everything but I didn’t get that vibe there.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE. amaze balls. small, $ 2.00 but worth it. crunchy outside, chewy center, just enough sweet, a little salt. YUMM

Ordered the milk and cookies cake which was awesome. While we were picking up the cake we also got some of the cupcakes which were soo good and a warm like corn bread with Icing thing which was honestly so delicious we devoured it immediately with no shame. Lots of people asked where I got the cake and I’m sure many more cakes and desserts from roebicellis are to come! Lovely bakery and even more lovely owners!

I got 4 cupcakes to-​go:
The Blatt (Vanilla cake, raspberry jam, cheesecake buttercream, fried cookie dough)
Brooklyn Blackout (Chocolate cake layers, dark chocolate custard filling, chocolate custard buttercream, chocolate fudge glaze, chocolate cake crumbs)
Tres Leches (Three milk soaked brown butter cake layers, dulce de leche buttercream, cake crumbs)
Banana Nutella (banana cake, Nutella buttercream, banana hazelnut praline)
The BK blackout was super chocolate-​y as expected.
The Blatt was just plain awesome.
The Tres Leches just tasted like vanilla to me, but it was still pretty damn good.
Banana Nutella didn’t have enough of a chocolate-​hazelnut taste but the texture was still great.
Overall, solid cupcakes! I would definitely return.

@Robicellis takes the cupcake! Yes, I meant it in every sense of the word.
They have the best cupcakes in this part of Brooklyn, and by that I mean, South Brooklyn (Bay Ridge, Dyker, Bensonhurst, Sunset Park, Borough Park, Sheepshead, Brighton) No, don’t you dare compare them to Little Cupcake Bakeshop. LCB may have been around longer but feel free to read my opinions about that in my other review. It’s quite a departure from the abundance of Italian bakeries dotted throughout Bay Ridge, and many long-​time residents are glad to have choice.
They are the real deal and Allison and Matt are equally as real. They’re in there every day to ensure quality and to make sure their orders go out the door. It’s also their testbed for launching new and creative things to try.
By my books, they’ve won me over with the first bite of their mainstream cupcakes, brownies, and whoopie pies with edgy names like Car Bomb, Bellini, Chocolate Merlot, Mocha Turtle. I’ve had more than 80% of it, and they do cycle the selection to keep it fresh. However, you can sometimes get your hands on them in restaurants or other eateries they provision to since they can be frozen. Funny how buttercream works like that.
BUT if you’re looking for Red Velvet, better look elsewhere. Allison doesn’t play that game. Do you really want to taint your palate with red food coloring? If you want cakes though, they can custom make one for you.
Oh, on the weekends they also have some fabulous mouth-​watering biscuits… black truffle, prosciutto gruyère? Ughhh, get in my mouth!!!
If you do decide to venture that way, I suggest you do so now before the store becomes an attraction. Don’t say I didn’t tell you so…

I’ve never stepped foot in Robicellis so I can’t comment on the store itself.
The wife was in Bay Ridge so I told her to grab me a Maltz brownie. I read Leo L.‘s Unilocal review and wanted to try since I love brownies. My wife’s friend went in and they didn’t have Maltz brownies. Apparently they rotate their brownie offerings. When they heard my wife was there from NJ to try their brownies they offered to make them for us.
So they went back later and picked them up for me.
The brownie was awesome. I’d say it was one of the best brownies I’ve had. Very moist and great chocolate flavor.
Definitely will visit them when I’m in the area.

Best brownies I have ever tasted, the brownies here are addictive.
I was first introduced to Robicellii’s at a Unilocal event, their brownies were memorable and I never forgot the taste nor their name.
I recommend.

There are a ton of choices of all kinds of sweets here (cookies, brownies, cupcakes, pies, cakes, etc.), with fun, unique combinations, but nothing really stands out as being particularly great.
I sure did sample enough too, to make sure I wasn’t missing something. I absolutely loved the Car Bomb Parfait I tried from their booth at the GoogaMooga, so I was really excited to come to the new storefront and had very high hopes, but nothing quite lived up to that rich, delicious and overwhelming treat.
It was also fun watching the husband half of the team, Matt, on Sweet Genius, and reading the amusing blogging of the wife half, Alison, which made me really want to like the stuff more. Both the Robicellis and another baker were at it in full force baking in the open kitchen for the week of Christmas when we came in and ordered too much stuff:
— S’mores Cupcake ($ 3.25)
I think they are most known for their cupcakes, which they sold at their original location, which made it all the more disappointing that this one was nothing special. The frosting is the type I like, where it’s so dense and hard that you can bite into it, but the cake itself was just so-​so, and there wasn’t much of any filling.
— Banana Bar ($ 2)
This was OK, but not nearly as tasty as the description leads you to believe: banana cake, chocolate chips, banana chip streusel, salted caramel drizzle. With that description, it was actually surprisingly bland.
— The Maltz Brownie ($ 3.50)
This was pretty excellent. If you like your brownies more on the fudgey scale than on the cakey scale, then you will love this. It has Belgian chocolate, Kentucky bourbon and candied bacon, though the bacon taste was very subtle. It was also chilled, which made it kind of hard, and made it even more like biting into a block of fudge,
— Chocolate Chip Cookie ($ 2)
It sounds boring to get this with all of the other eclectic choices, but it was just a really impressive-​looking cookie, so I went for it. It turned out to be really good, so I was glad — it’s extremely thick, and very soft and chewy in the middle. The chocolate pieces are delicious, and this is a great choice here.
— Signature Hot Cocoa (small for $ 3)
This was OK, but not really worth it. Made with valrhona chocolate and sea salt, it sounded a lot better than it actually tasted.
— Crème Brûlée Pie ($ 5)
This was the best thing we tried. They give you a pretty sizable, thick slice of this really delicious pie, which has a really buttery, delicious crust.
Perhaps their pies and cakes are stronger than the stuff I tried. I wanted to try the Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake, but it wasn’t even lunch yet and I ate enough sugar for a week, so I stopped finally. Unfortunately, it’s all the way in the middle of nowhere Bay Ridge, so I don’t see too many opportunities to return to satisfy my curiosity and try some more of the good stuff. Still though, the percentage of good stuff out of everything I tried doesn’t quite warrant the trek out here again for me any time soon. It’s fun to try the unique stuff, but for the most bang for your buck, and for a guaranteed hit, I would stick with the ridiculously good cakes at the Little Cupcake Bakeshop, only a block or so away.
