In 1967, Ciro and Rita Conte came to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn with the dream of opening a business that would provide Italians with products from their homeland. Having recently immigrated from the charming little island of Ponza in Italy, they knew how they missed their country. They wanted to bring a little piece of Italy to the USA. Slowly but surely the business evolved from just carrying records and magazines to providing the Italians, Italian-​Americans, and lovers of Italian culture with music, movies, beauty and bath products, soccer novelties, housewares, playing cards, and so much more. We are a small, family business and we truly value every customer.

This store is the last of its kind in Brooklyn. There were at least three stores like this on 18th Avenue at one time, but SAS is truly the «last of the Mohegans.» This is the last place to see the Italian culture that once defined this community. The owners are the nicest people, and they sell music, movies, and kitchenware of all types. I generally come here for Italian imported kitchenware, such as food mills, espresso machines, demitasse pots, ceramics, and pasta makers. The quality is superb, and the store is full of other kitschy items and novelties from Italy. Coming here, checking out a breathtaking basilica church made by Italian artisans in the area, and having an Italian meal, dessert, and buying some Italian groceries is probably the closest you can get to a Roman Holiday on a budget, but it seems like a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. I wish these owners the best in success and prosperity, and hope they stay open for many years to come.

This is one of the biggest bitter-​sweet shopping experiences I’ve ever had. On one hand, the shop is fully stocked with Italian CDs (they’ve ditched vinyl) and DVDs. Along with other Italian knickknacks and coffee makers. I managed to find a cd I was looking for and ended buying another that they were playing. Fine and good. I walked out satisfied… at least until I was halfway back home. The cds looked a bit «off». I didn’t realize it in the store because I guess I was in a rush.
Dreading the worst I unwrapped the CDs and my disappointment was confirmed. They were counterfeit. The «booklet» was just a folded glossy paper with no pages on the inside. The top of the disc was a poorly designed knock-​off. Sure the CDs worked, but fake? That’s messed up. SAS is located deep in Brooklyn just a few stops shy of Coney Island. If you’re in Manhattan, it’s a journey. I would give the place one star but since this was my first (and will quite possibly be my last) trip there, I don’t know the shop enough to accuse their entire merchandise as counterfeit. So benefit of the doubt. If you decide to check it out, just take a close look at what you’re buying. Don’t get ripped off.

One of the last places on 18th avenue that represents what used to be called Brooklyn Italy, this store blasts italian music from outdoor speakers proudly. When Italy won the World Cup in 2006 this was one of the central meeting points for rabid fans!
You can get Italian anything, Cassettes, CD’s Vinyl, movies you name it. It’s also a gift shop with tons of italian t-​shirts.
If you enjoy nostalgia you should visit this store before it is gone, it’s one of the few Italian stores left in the neighborhood.

One of the last stores of its kind in NYC that sells goods from Italy esp. music/​movies. They also have some kitchen items, toiletries, magazines, T-​shirts, gifts.
