HORRIBLE!!! After my son was seen in the ER for his neck and shoulder we were told to see a orthopedic dr. Since my son and myself had to Sclafani & Vitale years ago we decided to go back.(they also use to have a good reputation). My son was seen not by a Dr but a P.A. Because the doctor he was to see was on vacation. The P.A. said that his neck muscles were inflamed and was sending him for a MRI for his shoulder. This was on a Monday. No one called us to tell us the results of the MRI, to set up another appointment or to see how he felt. A week later the office called saying they were confirming another test for him 2 weeks from the day of the call. My son says no one called and told me the results of the MRI. I called the next day to complain how no one called with the results and asked to speak to the doctor. I was told the dr was still on vacation. I said there are other Drs in the office who could have looked at the results and called us. No one could give me an answer. I will never go to the, again or recommend anyone to go there. I feel that they neglected my son and my calls. He could have been going for PT that whole time I finally called Hospital for Special Sugery. He was seen the next day by a doctor at the hospital. Should have gone there first! Please don’t review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you’re connected in any way to the owner or employees.

I was livid with my visit here. I had hip pain and I was trying to figure out what was going on. The main office staff were not very personable. But I guess most doctors offices have staff like that. I was examined probably three times by three different people doing the exact same thing… Literally the same examination by 3 different people… Why? All 3 couldn’t be in the same room at once? Did one find something new? No one really explained what they were looking for.(Oh I asked questions of course– no real answers). I was sent for an X-ray(on site). The guy messed up the X-rays and I had to have them done twice… Okay, everyone has an off day. Though, I’m not particularly happy to be exposed to radiation unnecessarily. I was prescribed medication and physical therapy. So here is where i honestly feel someone deserves to have their medical license taken away. I was given medication for my pain that was described by the Doctor as a «little stronger than aleve.» A few days after I started taking medication, I started to have SEVERE, DEBILITATING stomach pains. I was screaming in pain some nights, wondering what the hell is going on. I was in fetal position on my bed with gastric pain. I even threw up a few times. I thought that it might be gastritis. Also, I noticed my stool turn BLACK. I mean charcoal black. My fiancé decided to look up the side effects of my A LITTLESTRONGERTHANALEVE medication… Jesus Christ… This thing was serious and after reading all the horror stories(100s of the them), I was shocked this thing was on the market and being prescribed! After I stopped taking the medication, it took me a few days before I started to feel good. Honestly… That is an example of doctors who cater to pharmaceutical companies more than patients. Who in their right mind would prescribe such a drug AND not even go over the side effects? You’re the doctor! You should know what you’re giving to your patients! You’re responsibility is to make people feel better, not give things that will make them feel worse that what they came in with. The funny thing is, I usually don’t experience side effects when I take meds. These meds have 100% occurrence of stomach pain, vomiting, and black stool… Shouldn’t you be aware?

Nearly 10 weeks ago I managed to separate my left shoulder(a grade IIIAC separation) while cruising on my bike through Prospect Park. As a result, I spent a few hours in the ER followed by a referral to Sclafani & Vitale. The doctor who examined me at S & V was Dr. Calogero Gambino, who specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, joint reconstruction and general orthopedics. Dr. Gambino is an excellent physician, and I highly recommend him for anyone who needs to see an orthopedic physician.
