This is a cool little shop. Yeah, they don’t work on random wrecks of scooters, they keep the fleet to legit. Lot o’ cry babies reviewing this joint. «They laughed at me» — really? Time to man up and laugh along. Honestly, these guys are honest, kind, and know their sh*t. You can’t take a joke, keep it moving… on foot… the time to pay attention is when you’re buying. If you buy a chinese scooter online, or a vintage that has been hacked in Vietnam… you prolly have a hard time finding anyone to pick up the pieces. Literally. To the riders who have scooters from legit manufacturers, you have found an invaluable resource. I wouldn’t take my Vespa anyplace else. You’re welcome.

I would not recommend a business that has such suspect customer service skills. I clearly brought in a scooter that they had no interest in working on, and that in itself is ok… just tell me as much. But they were so snobby and dismissive about it. And then when i thought to ask if they could help me locate a cover for my scooter that would fit it, they offered…“a garbage bag?” Now plenty of us have actually used a garbage bag before, but the way they smiled when they said it coupled with the start to finish poor attitude… they we’re actually trying to insult my scooter… my scooter which is now well covered and in perfect running order no thanks to Scooter Bottega. They had a nice laugh on my behalf. But how does 1 star feel? Yeah.

Ive been coming here for repairs for my Vespa 250 for the last few years. Always fast service and great prices.
Robbie (the owner) is an upfront guy who lives in Brooklyn. His shop crew is always helpful and friendly.
Would highly recommend to anyone with a scooter in New York City.

I’ve used Scooter Bottega many times for repair on my 2010 LX150. I am always pleasantly satisfied with the service which I receive. The guys are very nice and the pricing is fair. Robbie is extraordinarily knowledgeable of his craft and his care shows. I had a number of repairs done at the Vespa dealership 2years ago and my bike was gone for the entire summer when I used Scooter Bottega for the same amount of work my bike was done in days and because of the swift service I was not quite ready to pick it up lol. Thanks again guys, keep up the great work!

The crew is very experienced and honest. I only have a MC now but used them for service and repair several times before I sold my two stroke. Never a bad experience. They’re the best option in the city for sure.

I took my Vespa there last week, after it had been parked outside for months and had become infested by rats! Not only was it DISGUSTING inside (even after hosing out as much rat shit, chicken bones and egg shells as possible), but the battery was totally dead and the rats had chewed up lots of wires and hoses.
I was honest with Robby about the situation, and while he wasn’t too excited about having to dig into the stinky unknown, he was totally cool about it. I would have expected anybody to at least give a little attitude or be kind of negative.
Robby was really chill, seemed really straight-​forward about what services were necessary and what was suggested. It was ready in HALF the time he originally quoted me, and the cost seemed really reasonable. I know very little about the guts that make my bike work, but he was very patient with me and answered all of my many questions about the service and pricing.

totally rude and stand offish. I had a VERY simple problem (the screw on my oil tank was stripped) so I came in and asked for their help. the guy seemed really annoyed I was there and basically told to go home and figure it out myself. thanks for nothing!

Absolutely not professional!
I bring my vespa for fix some simple problems, just maintenance and they call me after 2 weeks, most the problem wasn’t un solved and also they been super rude after I ask some thing about the job bad done!
In the end of the story, the bill was $ 400 for a long description but in the realty almost nothing

Pretty great experience here at Scooter Bottega. Robbie and his partner worked together to fix my scooter horn!
I had to leave it with them for the day, but there’s a bus stop right down the block that can get you back to Downtown Brooklyn, etc.
And when I was trying to decide what type of scoot would be good, I called and he told me brands that were easy to find parts for yet reasonably priced (Kymco!). How nice! Oh and NPR did a piece on them!

Honest. Friendly. Skilled. Scooter Bottega is the best scooter shop in the greater New York area. They are always so good at explaining exactly what needs fixing and never surprise you with hidden fees or charges. This place may be out of the way for some but what’s better than a senic scooter ride to Red Hook AND an honest good repair shop?
After reading other reviews I guess it’s important to mention that the scooter I took to SB was a Yamaha. They were SO kind about repairs even though they specialize in Vespas. Not snobby about it at all. SCOOTER LOVE!

These guys are great and professional. Only problem is that they are always very busy, so you have to be prepared to come back when they can squeeze you in. No complaints on quality of work. Well done.

Anyone who own’s a vespa knows how difficult it is to find a good mechanic or to have a service manager answer a question with the correct answer. Since I have been on a quest recently to find a good mech for my two vespa’s I decided to pay a visit to a few places. After speaking to Robbie and his staff I am convienced that Scooter Bottega is the place I want to be bring my bikes. The shop might be considered a bit out of the way but I am certain it is well worth it.

Great service. 1) Robbie called me straight back after I left a message. 2) I showed up. 3) Mechanic fixed the scooter.
While I was there, they were doing some work on an old GS. Clearly know exactly what they are doing. Scooter Bottega is excellent.
By the way, someone posted earlier about if not a Vespa (or Lambretta) then they are not interested. Mine is a «Genuine Buddy 125». Perhaps they read the criticism, because they had NO attitude about it at all. Perhaps they only have certain brands that they work on — it is reasonable for any business to specialize. Kevin was happy to work on this modern Asian scooter.

Robbie & Kevin are the best. I’ve been going to them for several years, since Nicholas of Brooklynbretta closed shop and directed us to Scooter Bottega. Kevin came over from Brookylnbretta I believe.
They really know their stuff, provide great, comprehensive service and look out for their customers’ well being and wallets. I have a ’06 Vespa GT — and they keep it in top shape; I feel very confident knowing they pay great attention to detail. And on top of that, they are really nice guys.
The only complaint would be that they are very busy — so you might need to wait a bit to get an appointment — but they are great at managing their schedule and telling you when they can get to your bike. So it’s really not a complaint at all, but a reflection of the great work they do; they are busy because they are great.
And I think the prices are quite reasonable for the experience you are getting. They also are very good at keeping you apprised of what the costs could be as they trouble-​shoot an issue.
It’s places like Scooter Bottega that make Brooklyn such a great place to live and ride!
You will not be disappointed if you need some TLC for your scooter.

Still the best. I live a block away from another service shop, and I’ll forever trek the miles it takes to get here. Robbie and Kevin are awesome. Fair, honest and they do great work quickly. And of course, super nice. If you need your scooter repaired, go here.

I’m going to preface this by saying I am in no way related to anyone who works here.
That being said, this is by the BEST scooter repair shop I have ever been to EVER. Robbie (nice British guy, and it’s the first time I’ve ever said that) runs this joint and both he and his mechanics are not only highly knowledgable but also highly ethical. I had them install a rear luggage rack and a windshield on my Vespa. Reasonable labor rates for both. Only charged me a half hour instead of the other sham shops that charge you a full hour for something that takes 10 mins *cough, Brooklyn Vespa, cough*.
Anyway the after market rear rack I purchased from the shop was defective and snapped off on my first use. Robbie ordered a replacement, which turned out to be $ 40 cheaper and refunded me the difference in cash when I picked it up. It also turned out to be a much sturdier model. The windshield was totally reasonable. I had originally purchased one on eBay for $ 160 and it turned out to be the wrong size. Robbie got me one that was exactly the shape and color I wanted for $ 90.
The location leaves a little to be desired (it takes about 20 mins from the subway), but I have to believe its because his rent is dirt cheap and he passes the savings on to you. NY is all about the real estate right? Bottom line, this guy knows his stuff and he is very easy to deal with, accepts credit cards and doesn’t nickel and dime you to death. What more do you want?!

I love Scooter Bottega. Robbie’s a good guy and Kevin is a bike whisperer. Every time that guy touches my bike, it’s just… better.
I have an uncommon modern scooter (Aprilia) that I bought used in ’09. It had a terrible wobble in the front (I called it the death shake) and I took it to 2 shops, including the ‘authorized Aprilia shop’ at Brooklyn Vespa, to get it looked at before finding and trying Scooter Bottega, where it was fixed right up (someone had put the parts back on in the wrong order). I’ve been loyal to them ever since.
Earlier this spring, on the advice of a creepster that taught a motorcycle maintenance class that I took at Works Engineering (which I quit attending bc the dude was a dirtbag), I called up SB to order new tires for my scoot. When they came in I drove over to SB to drop off my bike for the installation. Robbie looked at my current tires and let me know that they are in perfect shape and that I do not need tires anytime soon. Saved me a couple hundred bucks.
For the folks who felt as though they were treated rudely here: please consider the perspective that Robbie’s not rude, he’s just British and a small business owner (which = major stress at all times). They guys at SB do not hold hands, but they do provide excellent bike service for reasonable prices.

Yes they specialize in vintage Vespas but this is also a great place for service and repairs on modern scooters. Dropped off my Kymco for regular service, oil change etc, and got it back the same day. Reasonably priced, friendly and quick.

What can you not like about a small garage filled with a couple of friendly blokes doing scooter servicing and immaculate restorations of real vintage Italian thoroughbreds.
ScooterBottega have taken over some of the work that the missed BrooklynBretta did and now stand with ScootersOriginali as one of the local vintage scooter shops capable of helping with vintage problems from annoying electrical problems, to full bike restorations.
