Started buying my seafood here many years ago, I found it to be always fresh, and priced right. However over the last few years it was slowly slipped down the drain. Just found out that the original owners Sea Breeze Fish Market of NYC is no longer part of the 18th Ave location! Dont know when that happened but the place does not offer the top notch sea food it once did!

The only way to get fresher more tasty fish than SEABREEZE is to buy a boat and go catch it yourself. Even then it probably won’t come close to these guys. When I cook fish for family and friends I don’t have to say sea breeze, they know, this is the only place for the freshest fish in Brooklyn. Plus the best counter guys you will ever meet, Angelo is not bad either!!!

My neighborhood fish monger. A throw back to the way fish markets used to be and much better than buying a piece of fish in plastic from the supermarket. The fish is always fresh and they have a wide selection especially of clams and oysters which I love. The staff is super helpful and sometimes when I see a fish I dont recognize I will ask whats the best way to cook it and they havent failed me yet. They also sell their own frozen fish cakes and crab cakes which blow Mrs Paul out of the water! Seeing that huge line here on the night before Xmas Eve is as welcome a sign of the holidays that I look forward to every year.

This place has great fresh fish! Angelo is the guy who owns the store and his team works very hard to get you everything you need. This place is a nightmare around christmas time and the line goes up the block! It’s complete chaos but worth the wait for the BESTLOBSTER in town!.I can’t do Christmas Eve dinner without lobster, dozens of clams and jumbo shrimp all bought from Sea Breeze. It’s hands down the best fish store in the area, top quality all the way around.

I picked up a nice piece of Chilean sea bass here last night and it was as fresh as can be. This is as authentic a fish store as you will find. The price per pound of my sea bass was also about $ 6 cheaper than Whole Foods, and these guys have been doing this for years. I come here with my mom during Christmas time for the best lobster, scallops, shrimp, eel, calamari, and anything else I may have forgotten to mention. Do not try to talk smack about this place. I guarantee its one of New York’s best!

Maybe I arrived on a bad day. I have been to Sea Breeze before and thought that it was fish store heaven. Fresh fish that had no odor, the eyes were clear, the flesh firm and always on TOP of the ice. However, my last visit recently has changed my opinion. And judging from what I saw I have a bad feeling that quality control is slipping. A nice variety, probably the best I’ve seen for a fish store. Half the fish had cloudy eyes and the flesh felt bloated to the touch. The tuna blocks that they cut into filets and steaks were brown all over. Worst of all, I believe the owner must have smoked three cigarettes for the whole ten minutes I was there completely fucking up any nice smell that the fresh fish might give off. I give one star very, very sadly. I hope I can amend or delete this post in the near future.

I have sometimes shopped at this fish market and haven’t experienced anything bad. I think their fish is mediocore, nothing to rave about. But I have heard that they provide special treatment to certain customers, ie. if they recognize you and like you, they will go to the back to bring out the better cut of the fish. I recently shopped there and asked for any deveined shrimp and they only provided with the shell or frozen. I told my fiancé and he said«that they usually devein it for you» and we both realize that I wasnt the«special customer». So yeah, the play favorites at this market.

This fish market is great not only for its location but for the great selection of seafood it offers. It is near the D train and a bus stop so anyone can easily find it to pick up something fresh to cook with. I frequently stop in to purchase seafood for the new recipe I want to try out. The owner and staff are friendly and are great at helping you pick out the right fish for your meal. The seafood is always fresh and delicious.
