Skin By Molly

I’ve been going to Molly for about a year now and always leave feeling better about my skin. Molly always takes the time to explain the products she’s using on your face and why. She listens to your concerns and helps you learn the best way to manage them. She’s a wealth of knowledge!
After struggling with hormonal acne in my twenties, she’s helped control my breakouts. After all those breakouts, I have a lot of hyper pigmentation. I went in on Wednesday for a facial and woke up Thursday with new skin. I’ve never seen my skin look this even and glowing!

I moved to NYC about a year ago and within a few months I had a massive breakout, my skin was worse than it’s ever been. I was in and out of the derms office every other week for about 6 months. Nothing was working, my confidence was shot and my last resort was going on accutane. I tried natural remedies, every oral and topical antibiotic but I was in no luck. I was very hesitant about going on accutane because of the intense side effects. Somehow I stumbled upon Skin by Molly thinking a facial couldn’t hurt while I was setting up my monthly blood tests/​derm appointments to get the accutane process started. I called Molly and explained my situation and she recommended the DMK enzyme facial. I got an appointment the same day and after I read up on DMK I was hopeful. Molly is incredibly sweet, her spa is very clean and relaxing. She mentioned to me that several past clients came to her as a last resort before going on accutane and ended up never going through with it because of the awesome results. I can say now after 11 treatments in 3 months, my skin is completely restored. Going into my first appointment my skin was basically raw due to all the of the harsh, drying antibiotics. I’ve never had the «glow» experience after a facial but I was certainly glowing after the DMK enzyme facial. I committed to going once every week for 12 treatment (1 more to go before we change it to every other week) and I’m incredibly happy. Molly switched up the treatment a little bit every week based on how my skin was doing and explained what products she was using along the way. Now that my acne is gone I’m looking forward to working on getting rid of the discoloration and looking like myself again. I’m so happy I stumbled upon the DMK products and Skin by Molly. Rather than polluting my body with harsh antibiotics I was able to restore my skin naturally and in a relaxing and comfortable environment!

As a woman of color with ridiculously sensitive skin, I was skeptical about getting a facial. I’ve had issues with my skin since I began my monthly cycle. I’ve tried the dermatologist route, facials that made my acne worst, several different doctors for skin, nutrition and hormone treatments. Needless to say, there has been no significant improvements over the last 29 years. In June, 2015, Molly began working on my skin. At the time I met Molly, I had my usual dark marks, acne and the acne scars. After my first DMK facial, I had a small outbreak but after two days, my skin began to clear up. Over time, the acne outbreaks began to reduce in number. So far, I have had approximately 4 facials; about one every 4 – 6 weeks. The breakouts still occur but the recovery time has significantly reduced from 2 months to 3 days with no scars. Yeah :) Molly and DMK. During my visits, Molly used a couple different DMK mask treatments. At home, I use a small range of DMK products; deep pore cleanser, herb spray with acu-​cream, acu-​klear for spot treatments for the acne outbreaks, melanotech drops on the dark spots, beta-​gel, revise A for a gentle exfoliant treatment a couple times per week and super bright. All DMK are used at different intervals. Based on how your skin responds, Molly will guide you to healthy clearer skin. I have three pain in the cheek dark marks remaining. But they are much smaller than they use to be. Two days ago, someone took my picture and I could not see the dark marks on my cheeks. So, I’m happy! Molly is very patient and she checks in with me between visits to see how my skin is responding. I promise, she is worth every penny!

I got the shinny hiney and I honestly think I could of done this at home. She was extremely pleasant I won’t take that away from her, Molly, and it was relaxing. But, it felt like a bunch of lotions were just thrown on me and I had to ask a lot, what is this or what is that for, I wish she would have explained things a bit more as well. Overall I’m writing this review which I rarely do, because it’s expensive $ 130 with tax and tip for 30 mins if that, save your money, promise not worth it. Not worth it at all, trust me.

I called last minute for an appointment on the same day (I’m a very last minute kind of person) and asked to be seen. I was able to speak with Molly and get an appointment with Arlene for that night.
The experience was amazing. It’s inside of Awakening studio, which itself is avery relaxing, but hip kind of place that you just want to walk in to and see what they do!
The facial itself was beyond words. Personally, I have had many– some not so good– but this was by far the best. I asked to have extractions, she did that. I asked about the products along the way, she knew so much about them! And then I also had my feet massaged while my skin firming face mask worked its magic.
How perfect! I felt like I was at a plush day spa. Nothing was overwhelming or too overpowering with scents– it was all just right. I will be coming back for more!

I had my first facial with Molly today; incidentally my first DMK Enzyme Facial as well. Molly provided a check-​in form to cover the basics (skincare concerns, allergies, etc.), as well as indicate conversational preferences during treatment (I chose a mix of talking and silent), which she then confirmed pre treatment. The facial itself was great, with Molly explaining the products at each step and talking me through the extractions and actual enzyme mask. At the end my skin was clean, smooth and hydrated, without feeling greasy. Molly also finished with a sunscreen – key on a sunny day. She was helpful in discussing the DMK product line and offering suggestions for my skin; I ultimately chose to try out the deep pore cleanser. Booking online is a snap as well. I’ll be back.

I’ve been getting facials for over ten years and my experience with Skin By Molly has been hands down one of the best.
Molly is very attentive and has done a great job of listening to my skin concerns and coming up with a routine that really works.
After a year of seeing Molly, my skin is in GREAT condition. I’m clear, smooth and have a great skin routine that really works. I recommend Molly to everyone!

I really wanted to love the DMK Enzyme Facial, but I didn’t. I can’t say I wasn’t relaxed: I was. I can’t say I didn’t like Molly: I did (she’s very likable and it’s hard to leave her two stars)! Simply put, I wasn’t impressed with the facial because I didn’t notice any meaningful results.
I take my skin very seriously and I use excellent skincare products. The result is that my skin most often appears firm and clear. Regardless, I still have my share of blackheads, the occasional ingrown hair, and the random pimple here or there. My skin was relatively congested prior to this facial and was essentially unchanged – if not more congested – following this facial. My extractions lasted a couple of minutes, which wouldn’t have bothered me save for the fact that I still had some pretty noticeable (and easily extractable) blemishes after the fact. I say this knowing that the description of this facial mentions «gentle extractions.»
I can’t say I don’t appreciate the slathering of products on my face: I do. The products Molly uses generally smelled and felt great and she uses brushes to apply them. What I didn’t appreciate was having to pick the dried enzyme materials out of my hair, from behind my ears, from under my chin, from under my eyes, etc, etc, etc, after my facial was finished. For the comparably steep price, I expected to be spotless, or at very least near spotless, and I wasn’t anything close. I’ve had myriad facials of all prices and I’ve never been left with so much debris on my skin and in my hair. What really irked me was that I wanted to see what impact the DMK skincare line would have on my skin, but I didn’t have it on long enough to actually do so. I had to remove most of it with the wet wipe Molly offered me to clean myself up post-​facial, and then I showered the rest off when I returned home because I still had lots of flaking enzyme on my skin and in my hair (and clothes and sofa – even after removing quite a bit while still at her location).
Worse yet, my partner was given the exact same facial (she told him that specifically) immediately following mine regardless of the fact that his skin is very different from mine. I don’t have sensitive skin and I’m mostly oily and prone to blemishes. He has very sensitive skin and a bit of combination and otherwise dry skin. The result is that his skin was peeling and very dry following this facial (mine was neither peeling nor dry). Not in the «healthy turnover» kind of way, but in the «I’ve been overstripped and undermoisturized» kind of way. It turns out that I was given a form to fill out and he wasn’t. Regardless, I’d think that this specific information would be either verbally or visually clarified even if it wasn’t collected on a form. To be clear, we both had the DMK Enzyme Facial, but we shouldn’t had had the same products used on our very different faces prior to the enzyme application.
Lastly, it also struck me that Molly didn’t apply sunscreen to my (or my partner’s) skin after our midday facials (on a sunny day). I’ve always had sunscreen applied to protect my skin following my many facials past.
BOTTOM LINE: Both my partner and I were underwhelmed by this facial for a number of reasons. We felt it was overpriced given the lacking results, and we won’t be returning based on our individual experience (s). Maybe you’ll have a different experience? Here’s hoping you do.

Molly is amazing! She is so knowledgeable, and knows exactly what to do before I even speak! If your in the mood to treat yourself, and have the best skin ever, I would highly recommend her! :) The line of skincare she uses is top notch, and her treatments are worth every penny and more.

I’ve never had troublesome skin and never felt a need for regular facials. But when I moved to NYC my skin Freaked. Out. Not acne per se, more like my skin was just angry — irritated, inflamed, bumpy, ugly. Nothing I tried fixed it, so I looked for an aesthetician and found Molly. So glad I did.
As other reviewers have noted, Molly is a pro and all-​around lovely person who provides a wonderful experience. But she also delivers results. After just a couple of facials every few weeks, my skin totally transformed. It’s happy skin now: calm, clear, soft and smooth. Bonus: the forehead line I was idly considering botoxing is almost completely faded away.
I’ve also been very pleased with the product she uses and recommends (risk-​free, I might add). I would never have found this line without Molly and these are some of the best skin care products I’ve used.
A facial with Molly every 3 – 4 weeks is now a regular part of my skin care routine and I can’t imagine going without it!

This was my very first facial, a gift from my boyfriend. I really wasn’t sure what to expect but I was completely relieved upon first meeting with Molly.
She was fantastic, professional and extremely knowledgable. I am so grateful for this experience and will most certainly be back to her.

My facial experience was truly amazing. She made me feel very at home and relaxed throughout the whole process. I found it incredibly enjoyable and beyond relaxing. My skin feels brand new, refreshed, renewed, and it has a beautiful glow to it. Molly got rid of all the blackheads on my face, that I could never get rid of. Molly is a true professional and she really knows what she is doing. She is really gifted and passionate and accommodative to your personal needs. Truly incredible experience! I am so excited that I finally found someone that carries DMK products and does the enzyme facials! I was introduced to DMK when I was traveling in Australia last summer and the products seriously helped my skin SO much and to my surprise I haven’t been able to find them here in NY.
Molly was the sweetest and gave me the best facial. She was very helpful with advising me on which products would best suit my needs. My skin has changed a bit now that winter is here and needs a little more moisture.
If you have never had a DMK facial it is a must try. Your skin will look so healthy, smooth and tight afterwards. I will be a regular now for sure… thank you Molly so glad I found you!

Molly is amazing. I had never had a facial before I came to Molly, and I was really nervous as I have heard mixed reviews about getting facials from my friends. However, Molly made me feel so at ease and assured me my skin would be glowing when she was done with me… AND SHE WAS SO RIGHT! My skin is über sensitive and turns red if I even as much as scratch it gently. After a relaxing and thorough facial with Molly, my skin wasn’t even red in the slightest. She is truly a master, and I am now hooked. She is also a sweetheart — bonus points!

I had an exceptional facial by Molly when traveling to NYC. I was combing Unilocal!,trying to find a great recommendation for a facial as it was the last day of an extremely busy work week as well as my birthday and wow, she did NOT disappoint!
This was truly the best facial I have ever had and I will hopefully have time to see her again when I am back in the city in May of next year. I was so relaxed and my skin was literally glowing when she was finished. Her knowledge and expertise is evident and it was a wonderful experience.
Her questionnaire is awesome– I’ve never had an esthetician actually ask what my preference was as far as the amount of talking vs. quiet relaxation and she absolutely (and without being awkward) made that happen. I love her, my only sadness is that I am literally across the country and can’t be a regular.

Review on the acne facial:
I get acne facials monthly on top of fraxel and a slew of other tedious and painful dermatological procedures. (Part of my life for over a decade as someone with teen and adult acne.) My aestheticians are usually linked to dermatologists so they lean more medical and in my opinion, Skin By Molly compares.
Top pros, based on my first appointment, is that Molly is fast with her extractions and much gentler than a long list of other aestheticians I’ve visited. She is a realist who didn’t force my skin when it didn’t yield. I will be a repeat customer here.
Molly is knowledgable on products and ingredients. Friendly, easygoing, interesting yet professional to chat with. One hope was maybe to get advice and a second opinion, outside my doctor, on the landscape of medical skin procedures, but since this isn’t the derm’s office, a bit subjective to say this. There is a very refreshing level of honesty and objectivity to Molly. She never once tried to sell me. If she couldn’t discuss a subject in depth, said so. The sure technical skills plus the people skills equals total superstar!
The facial was much needed. My skin turned out exactly as expected. (Zero surprises is a very good thing for someone with acne.) Thank you Molly! I look forward to my next appointment.

I got my 2^nd shiney hiney of the summer today and my bum is as smooth as a baby’s. Molly makes it such a relaxing and comfortable experience. I also got my first facial in 3 years. I had a horrible experience somewhere else (bacterial infection), so I was scared. But today I am thrilled with my skin after Molly’s facial. She catered to my specific skin needs and made my skin look flawless. She has such a gentle touch, I was so relaxed afterwards I didn’t want to go to work. Molly is the sweetest, easy going person and she makes the whole experience amazing.
I’m not big on pampering myself or wasting money on half ass treatments. Needless to say I’ve already booked my next appointment. go see molly!

I had my first facial with Molly last Friday, and 5 days later my skin still feels amazing.
I have been battling a few skin woes (hormonal acne, redness, aging, oy) and with a bit of apprehension, I finally booked an appt with Molly. So glad I did!
Molly was incredibly sweet and reassuring, made me feel very relaxed, explained everything she was doing and why, and had great recommendations for how to take care of my skin in between visits. She has a lovely mix of modern and traditional techniques that she tailored to my specific needs and I would recommend her to anyone.
I’m looking forward to updating this review after trying some of the products she recommended.
