Massage with Capri may have been the best I’ve ever had. Walked on air the rest of the day.

After reading the other glowing reviews here, I feel like maybe my –not so great– experience was a fluke…
It was, hands down, the worst massage I’ve ever had. I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I’ve never experienced anything like it.
Maybe the therapist and I just didn’t connect well — and I don’t want to name her because she was very sweet — but it was an expensive bummer.

I have been using Unilocal for longer than i can remember and this is my very first review and it is WELL DESERVED! I found Slope wellness after searching Unilocal for a good plave to get a massage. Let’s start at the beginning. I called and spoke with a very pleasant woman whose name Im shamefully forgetting. Anyway she was a delight and booked me for an appoibtment with Capri for a Shiatsu session the next day. I arrived the next day and was pleasantly greeted by a receptionist, Capri greeted me about 2 mins later. He was so inviting and genuinely interested in listeinging to what I wanted out of the session. THEN HE WENT TO WORK! By far the best massage I have ever had, he stretched my body and massaged my tension into oblivion. He explained all along the way what he was doing and why while still managing to keep the session quiet, calm and relaxing. He periodically checked in on my comfort level and was extremely knowledgable about his technques. Upon leaving he also shared some excercises I could do at home to continue my tension relief. I will surely be back! Thank you Capri!

What took me so long? I went to Jeff Weidmann as an acupuncturist starting about 5 years ago at another location and he helped me with some physical ailments and I loved his manner and positive demeanor. I found out that he had opened his own place thru his wife (not knowing they were a couple) and dragged my feet for a while to get over there. Why??? I am once again thrilled to be under his care. He is attentive to your concerns and also gives very good advice on lifestyle tweaks to help improve whatever ails you. I left feeling rested and energized. Acupuncture is wonderful with the right therapist. Slope Wellness also sells his wife’s La Rose organic scrubs and teas that I have used for a while now and a super fan. Can’t wait for my next appointment.

You don’t just get a massage here, you basically get non-​invasive reconstructive surgery of what ails you. Melissa is amazing. I am considering voting for her for President.

On a whim, I decided to book a same-​day massage after taking a look at several of the Unilocal reviews. I couldn’t be more glad I did. I scooped up what I believe was one of the only appointments left this afternoon. As a newby, the receptionist just booked me with the massage therapist available — Capri.
This is easily the best massage I have ever received. Capri took several minutes before my massage to allow me to explain the pain I was experiencing and what I was hoping to achieve. I’m not typically one that goes into massages hoping to fall asleep with a soft touch. I prefer really using an appointment as relief to tension.
It was as if the stars aligned in my day by being booked with Capri. After discussing my goals of the session, he went to work. He took his time working on the areas that I had requested and for the first time, it actually felt like a massage therapist that knew what he was doing. Throughout the massage, I inquired about soreness I was experiencing and while he kept working, Capri explained why I was feeling this soreness and pain. Following the massage he took the time to show me various exercises that would be helpful to easing some of the pain.
I don’t get massages often — it’s not something I love to spend money on. But this massage with Capri changed that. I booked four weeks out on the spot because I felt so much relief.
I’ll say it again — Capri provided me with the best massage I have EVER had. And I’m already booked to go back!

This place is a relaxation sanctuary! From the moment you walk in and see the clean minimal décor you feel like you’re in a top notch spa. There is a hot/​cold water machine and a lovely station that offers a variety of teas. I have been getting community acupuncture here for the past 5 months, and look forward to my appointment every week. Jeff, Trisha, and Lucas are all wonderful. It is evident they know this craft and care about the well being of their clients. I tried acupuncture after hearing about its many benefits and it has definitely changed me for the better. I am hooked for life, and as long as I’m still living in BK this is the only place I’m coming to.

Slope Wellness and Lisa are still as wonderful as ever! I took my boyfriend here today because he woke up with shoulder and neck tension so bad that he couldn’t turn his head. He has never had a professional massage, so I was nervous he’d be uncomfortable. Lisa did an excellent job relieving his pain, and he felt so relaxed afterward.

I love this place so much I’ve become a member, meaning I’ve committed up front to getting 12 massages over the course of 12 months. I did the same thing last year and used up all 12 massages in 7 or 8 months.
I can’t say enough good things about this establishment. It’s tastefully done, has great masseuses, it’s clean and I’ve never had a bad time here. I’ve only received massages so I cannot speak to their other offerings but I do not think you’ll be disappointed.
Julia is my go-​to masseuse and she’s great. I’m a believer.

This place has changed my life. I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia a year and a half ago and have suffered from constant migraines and acute facial pain. No other acupuncturist or doctor has been able to do anything for me. Fortunately I’m doing feeling so much better since I’ve started going to slope wellness for acupuncture. I no longer have to wear sunglasses ²⁴⁄₇ and I’ve been able to go back to work. I’m eternally grateful!

Really great place. Jeff is an acupuncture magician. I haven’t had a migraine in months. I see Patrick for massage and the man is a wizard. I can’t recommend this place enough — it’s helped convinced me I need to never leave Park Slope.

I’m not quite sure if this business is supposed to feel more spa like, or more medical office like. I do know that I felt uncomfortable the moment that I walked in. Reception asked me to remove my shoes when I noticed a collection of shoes at the entrance. If you’re going to practice this, please
place a bench and a basket of medical socks or slippers at the entrance.
Here is why this was a problem: I’m disabled and walk with a cane. MS prevents me from leaning up against a wall to kick off my shoes like an ordinary able-​bodied person. It’s bothersome because they have a wheelchair elevator access entrance, so I assumed they would be sensitive to disabled clients, but… I ask for a chair.
When I enter the reception area there are three young ladies there waiting for services. Um… Why are they all wearing shoes?
Why ask me to remove my shoes, and allow the others to clomp around in their Toms, high heels and sneakers? Now, I’m stressed. (I know, I’m a bit judgy)
Small Redemption:
My therapist, Amanda had amazingly strong hands. She did my bodywork and I knew that she was very skilled, however I did not walk away from my appointment feeling more relaxed. Sadly, quite the opposite. She kept getting so close to the trigger point that I needed work on. So close. Almost there. But never quite managed to touch the area of my neck and shoulders that was causing me the most distress. I asked her and directed her with gentle instruction: that’s where it is! That’s where my pain is. That’s the spot. Sigh.
I would still recommend her… she has a good touch and obvious care and knowledge of her craft. I was also happy that the fee was only $ 80.
Would I return? Not likely… Conveniently located right outside of the seventh Avenue F train station, it is tempting… Going to explore other options and see if I find my spa-​ah.

Booked an appt for myself and my boyfriend. Lisa did my massage, and she was wonderful! We talked about my areas of concern and she gave me a lot of helpful info (even some things to do at home, in btw massages). My bf worked with Julia, who he said was also great. Will definitely be back!

Community acupuncture for $ 40 a session. I don’t know how you can get any better than that. Awesome trigger point massage. I love this place.

I was a big fan of Slope when I started going a couple of years ago. The place is clean, pleasant, and soothing, and with one or two exceptions, the massage therapists were among the best I’ve ever seen — especially Eric and Lisa. Both of them are professionals that really know the musculoskeletal system and can work out complicated problems related to old sports injuries, surgeries, etc.
The massage therapists are not the problem. The space is not the problem. It’s the office manager (and some staff members). I found out that I was being overcharged for my membership, but no biggie; that could be fixed. And I was planning to keep it — if i don’t get frequent massages, I end up limping and in pain (plus, they’re yummy) — but was treated so rudely that I asked for a refund instead. There seemed to be no problem with this, and despite the argumentative treatment, I continued to go to Slope to see Lisa.
And yet — the refund hasn’t happened. It’s been about four months since the OM said she’d give me my money back! I just called to make an appt with Lisa and happened to get the OM, whom I’ve been meaning to call — not only about the missing refund, but also to point out that they’d double-​dipped (I have autopay) several times. After I scheduled the appt, I brought these things up, and yet again, the OM was argumentative, kept talking over me and not listening (I raised my voice, I’m ashamed to say, to ask her to let me finish just one dang statement; she still wouldn’t), and so generally rude and unfriendly that I told her I don’t want my appt with Lisa after all, that I’m done with Slope b/​c of the way I’ve been treated. After all, this was not the first time I“ve been talked to in such a way, by her or others. I mean, she is the one who totally dropped the ball — in so many ways, such as overcharging me to begin with — and yet she can’t even talk to me in a polite manner, much less apologize? Clearly Slope «Wellness» doesn’t need a lot of business if it’s acceptable to treat otherwise happy, paying customers this way.
The fact that this OM won’t let a customer — a customer who otherwise would have been a very loyal, long-​term one who’d spend a lot of money b/​c I trust Lisa — even SPEAK to explain her situation — well, it’s not worth it. It has happened on every phone call about my membership problems, and the nasty tone has tainted how I feel about Slope. A massage — and the environment around it — is supposed to be healing, soothing, and calm. I’m so stressed after getting off the phone with her (and by the way, she hung up on me) that… well… I need a massage.

Today I tried out a massage at Slope Wellness and was very pleased all around with my masseuse (Maria), the lovely setting, and the graciousness of the staff. I’ve been grappling with a pulled muscles in my waist for the past 3 weeks, and the deep tissue and traction work that Maria did allowed for a gentle restorative release. I will certainly return here and may just purchase their discounted monthly membership package!

I went here for a Reiki energy healing session with Rick. I really enjoyed the experience, and I may even do it again. However, I feel like it was a little pricey, so I don’t think I could in good conscience recommend this to someone who is in any way skeptical. And let’s be honest, this is basically the reason the word skeptical was invented. HOWEVER, if you are a reiki fan, this place is great. And rick was sweet as pie.

Visiting family in Brooklyn and really needed some deep tissue work on my neck, hips and legs — those «sitting and traveling too much» zones. I was able to get the last appointment of the day with Julia. Amazing work. Great attention to detail. Very professional and relaxing atmosphere. In short: I can walk normally again. Thank you!!!

I’ve been to Slope Wellness twice and both have been really positive experiences. The rooms are comfortable and the massage therapists are super professional and knowledgeable. It’s a great massage experience and good value.

My partner took me here for the Valentine’s Day couples massage. I should say that while I’ve had many massages in the past, they’ve usually been the neighborhood body work shop variety. Never bad, but never with quite the level of attention and consultation I’d like.
Slope Wellness is a lovely, airy, clean space, and the front desk assistant was very warm, making us feel instantly welcome. We were able to put our coats into a closet off the hall and take our shoes off in the foyer so that we could immediately relax as we waited, and we had time to get some water/​tea and look around. When we got into the massage room, we were greeted by Jenna and Marcus, both of whom were kind, attentive, and easy to talk to. They stressed our comfort as a priority, and gave us a chance to request any special attention we needed.
I am a habitual long-​distance swimmer, and swim up to 7 miles a week during the winter, so my rotator cuff definitely experiences the pain of over-​use. I asked Marcus to pay special attention to this area, and it was well worth it. He applied some trigger point therapy and myofascial release to my shoulder/​upper back area that relieved the pain and soreness instantly — I’ve done a few swims this week, and, four days out, my body is still feeling wonderful. Beyond that specific area, it was without a doubt the nicest massage I’ve ever gotten. My body felt pampered, handled with care and respect, and thoroughly relieved. I haven’t seen Marcus’ name on the staff list but I hope he will be at Slope Wellness again. I typically don’t feel comfortable with male massage therapists, but he was lovely, gentle, and attentive. I can’t speak yet for the rest of SW’s services, but I am planning on being back to explore. Highly recommended!
