Sophy’s Beauty Salon

Silveria was recommended to me by a friend. This place is your average Dominican salon, however their wash service on weaves is OFF THE HOOK! I was so happy with how my hair came out. I was in and out, which was great. Would definitely be returning.

I’ve been coming to sophy’s since i was in the 6^th grade 11 yrs old (im 24 years old now) they treat me like family my sister n mom comes here as well been a loyal customer since day one. overall i love sophy’s wouldn’t go anywhere else !

So I can honestly say this is one of THE worst hair salon experiences I’ve ever had. I normally go to the Joseph Tyler salon in bedstuy but I moved to a new neighborhood and a friend recommended sophys as it’s near by.
Upon arrival I walked in to the shop and within a few minutes I was greeted. I showed them pictures of the style I wanted (a layered bob with color). They said ok and proceeded to wash my hair, and color it.
I’m not sure of the stylists name but she was an older woman with long dark hair in a ponytail. She asks to see the pictures again and says «she has a lot of hair and you don’t». By the tone of her statement you would’ve sworn I was snatched bald (which is not the case) but I digress. I sit in her chair for her to start the cut and she looks dazed and confused. She cuts my hair straight across (no layers) and immediately I’m getting concerned because it won’t have volume as the pictures. She literally took 2 minutes to cut my hair and stuck me back under the dryer. In the midst of speed cutting/​drying, I see a roach walk across the floor. Nice. While under the dryer I see another roach coming out to say hey to his homie.
After I’m retrieved from the dryer she blows out my hair until it’s bone straight and lifeless. The end result looks nothing like the photo and I’m bummed. The stylist goes «at least the color is nice» and I think «yeah because someone else did it». When she’s finished she looks at my facial expression and shrugs like «idk». She’s given up and so have I.
All that to say I couldn’t get out of there quick enough! I paid the bill, grabbed my jacket (shaking it off so I didn’t take any friends home”) gave her a few dollars as a tip (even though I was totally not happy) and left.
So overall I will not be returning to sophys. The price wasn’t bad ($ 50 for the cut and color) but I’d rather pay more for somebody that has the skill set to achieve the look I wanted. I’ve already made an appointment with my bedstuy stylist to correct my time at sophys.

Love this salon. I usually come here only for wash and sets. Customer service is always ideal. I only wished the place was bigger cause they definitely need the room and they need to upgrade

It was ok. Nothing that would make me go back. She didn’t give me any ear covers, She saw that I was holding my ears because the heat was burning them, I had to ask for ear covers. She did not have any so she gave me a towel to use. Ok fine, problem is the towel smelled like fish!!! Ugh. In the end my hair did come out nice even though she burned me with the blow dryer and didn’t even apologize. Won’t be returning. My search for a good knowledgeable hair stylist goes on. If you know one let me know :)

I was over charged for a single process color & definitely won’t make that mistake again… $ 75 is way too much for single process color in Flatbush. I wouldn’t recommend this spot to a dog. Not to mention the four hours of my life that I will never get back again. If I am going to pay Manhattan prices I expect Manhattan treatment. Hasta la vista Sophy’s!

I was recommened to this salon by my cousin. I went there for a roller set (I have relaxed hair) and my daughter had her hair washed and blown out (she has natural). As it was my very first time there, I was very skeptical. I was very pleased with the results of both my daughter and my hair and would go back again. We went on a Saturday morning and were in and out very quickly.

I love this salon. The workers are very nice and they work very hard. They wash your hair very well and use good treatments for it. Unlike those black hair salons where they barely scrub your hair leaving u with dandruffs. Sophy’s is the best salon I’ve been to so far in Brooklyn… Did I mention my hair grew longer from patronizing them? Yes it did… Very well maintained

I’ve been coming here for about 8 years and wouldn’t change them for nothing. there very attentive to what my hair needs and don’t try to just up sell me anything. Def recommend this salon.
