Spades Computer Clinic

Called their number today at 11:30 am. I was told they’d be on their way shortly to come pick up my computer for some diagnostics testing. The person on the phone told me they would call when they were heading my direction. It’s now 6pm and I haven’t been able to reach them at all. Their number is going straight to voicemail (I left one the first time I checked up around 3:30 but it hasn’t been returned). I’m also SOL on finding someone else this weekend to diagnose what’s keeping my computer from booting up.
After deciding that their store wasn’t too far from where I live I went to see if I could talk to someone in person, but the storefront isn’t there anymore. It’s been replaced by a Salon. I don’t know what the deal is with this place, but my experience (which started out hopeful and positive) has turned into a totally wasted negative Saturday experience.
I’ll update this whenever I hear back from this place.

Roger C is constantly kind and gracious service for the customers. Definitely I’ll ask Roger if I have a pc trouble again.

Took my aging computer to Spades Computer Clinic last week, and was so glad that I did. Sean was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and reassuring when I explained the problem with my painfully slow desktop computer. He ran a free diagnostic test and then suggested a clean install to see if that would help speed things up a bit. We had already talked about adding extra memory, but Sean suggested that I see how things go after the install before spending more money on the memory. I had my computer back within the day. Had a problem with my PC which made me worry a new computer was in store… nooooooo!!! Not what I wanted. But it was all OK! Skipping the boring details… got my PC laptop fixed for way less I thought it would be and was given the computer back super quick. Win win win win.

Sean is very nice, was able to explain my options, and fixed the problem (I dropped my laptop and it jacked up the AC input) very quickly and didn’t charge me an arm and a leg. (Quite reasonable and he honored the Unilocal discount!) He also answered my random computer questions and didn’t do that thing that happens sometimes where the computer wiz scoffs at you for your non-​wiz status– I appreciated that! Don’t mess around– just take your computer to him and save yourself a headache.

The best kept secret in Brooklyn. I honestly debated even writing this review — Sean at Spades Computer Clinic did such a fantastic job, I’m a little worried that everybody else will discover him, he’ll become too popular and busy for me to go to him in the future. I had what I thought was a simple job that was estimated to be a relatively easy same day fix. He gave me a great price.
It turned into a bit of an ordeal. Sean ended up having to keep my Macbook Pro overnight and another day — I had NO idea that my hard drive was about to fail.
He stuck with it, even though I’m not a technical person and was extremely worried, convinced my hard drive was dead and kept calling him (bothering him) to get updates.
He set me up and refused to charge me more than the original price, even though he really should have — honestly I would have charged more if I were him — the job took longer and was really much more of a hassle than it should have been.
I also got a thirty day guarantee on his work, but I doubt I’ll need it — my computer is working perfectly. I’m very happy and so very grateful.
When I went to pick up, there were like six people crowded in his little shop, all waiting in line clutching their broken phones and laptops to talk to him about their problems. He was in the shop by himself. Of course everybody needed to talk Sean URGENTLY and needed their personal problems fixed RIGHT AWAY.
He handled it with a warm smile and took care of everyone in line expertly and efficiently, often handling two people at once. It’s no surprise folks were willing to wait.

Sean was able to provide with a quick, clear, and FREE repair quote for my damaged HP laptop.
I dropped it off yesterday afternoon around 4pm, and by 8pm the same day I received the entire detailed estimate in my Gmail account in PDF format.

Great customer service. At my first encounter there, I ordered an adapter through them for much less. Soon after, my 6-​year old MacBook Pro stopped turning on, and they took all the time necessary to figure out what was wrong with it at no charge.
