Feeling fortunate to have Steven Alan clothes, optical and home so nearby. Fantastic staff and beautifully curated selections in each category make every visit a relaxing addition to your weekend strolls. A great neighborhood staple.

The manager was extremely patient and helpful in my quest to hunt down a certain boot in a certain size and color. Clothes are great. They make me want to work harder.

I have such great things to say about this wonderful shop! I love Steven Alan and have shopped online during their sales, but never in the brick & mortar stores. I went in on a Tuesday afternoon in late June — first of all it was perfectly air-conditioned and refreshing on the first super hot summer day in Brooklyn. The guy in sales was alone in the shop but never failed to give 100% excellent customer service the entire time I spent in there. I had time to kill so was there for over an hour trying on several rounds of clothing, shoes, and peeking in the jewelry case. Throughout my time there, other folks stopped by and it got busy to a degree, and he still managed to keep track of my pile of potential purchases, discussed details about sizing, availability, and sale prices with me. He was excellent and made shopping at Steven Alan feel like a regular thing.(Normally I’m a little intimidated to do any real shopping at places with items in this price bracket). I think the only reason I ended up spending $ 240 was because he was so kind and helpful, and the positive energy in the store. I also had a credit online, so I was trying to figure out what to purchase later, and he was very helpful and understanding of my decision-making process! Thanks so much, can’t wait to come back to this cute Brooklyn shop representing an amazing clothing line!

I should start off and say sorry this is a long review and it is not a nice one. I love Steven Alan and am a loyal customer, but this particular store is not a good representation of the company and/or brand which it sells. The employees were unprofessional, absent minded and downright rude. My friend and I were at the store on a Saturday afternoon trying on shoes. There were a few people in the store but it was not packed. The actual shop girl who helped us was fine but as for the rest of the staff… it’s a different story. 1-I am 5′ and was trying on a pair of tall boots. I zipped up the boots and bent my knees to see if the boots hit the back of my legs(I have a problem finding boots that are the right height for me)…one of the other shop girl came up and said in a condescending tone ‘how often would you actually bend your legs like that?’ Hello people, you DO bend your knees when you SIT and WALK right? My answer was ‘um, every time I SIT?’ Shop girl turns around and walks away without saying anything else. 2-I see a sweater hanging up high on the wall in display-I asked the girl at the register(who was staring off into space mind you) if that sweater came in different colors… no reply, guess the empty wall across was very fascinating. I asked AGAIN, and no reply AGAIN! My friend had to walk up to the broad and tap her on her shoulder and ask. Three times and her answer was curt and short ‘NO. They do not.‘ 3-waiting to get rung up(scored a pair of cute clogs)…the same girl from incident #2 as well as ANOTHER girl were both at the register. They were both busy chatting with another customer-someone who wasn’t buying anything… you don’t need two people to do that. I stood there patiently for 10 minutes… YES. I counted. FINALLY, one of the girl(the one who was staring off into space) saw me and asked ‘oh are you ready?’ As she started to ring me up she turns to her coworker and said ‘sometimes, I just don’t remember to use my brain…’ Boy, she sure was right about that. At the end, I was the one to actually say thank you. You’d think as the salesperson you would thank your customers because they are giving you business(and a job). Now to clear the air, I am not a high maintenance person, nor do I want some sales rep waiting on me hand and foot(in fact, I’m quite the opposite), but this was ridiculous. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, maybe they were all hungover, but I will not be returning to that store anytime soon. For a lack of better words, these girls(except the one who helped us) pretty much sucked. I would recommend them not to work in retail at all.

I dig this place. Great style… sort of JCrew ish, and the sales clerks are always really friendly. Clean and well organized. These people do it right.

This location is much bigger than the one by the Meatpacking District so there goes one star for the size of the store. It also carries a wider selection of items so there goes another star… plus 100 hearts to the sale section. I absolutely L.O.V.E. the sale section it’s very neatly organized I must say and you can find great steals… I’m gonna give this store two more stars for the friendliness of the staff. I must say this store is a bit on the pricey side but this store has great people with elegant style and a big fat smile!

Thanks Unilocal for moving the location back to Boerum Hill from Ditmas Park. Steven Alan, as usual, always has nice clothes. Of course, they are $$$. My boyfriend found a really nice pair of raw denim jeans that he «invested» in. The guys selection was really nice, with a lot of nice button downs and jackets. The girls selection was ok. Colors were a bit louder than I am accustomed to. I was hoping to find a nice slicker for the rainy days, but I guess that may be off-season. Oh well. I will definitely be back when I take out that second mortgage.

Seriously, I love Steven Alan. The shirt dresses are the best. I am a big fan of the Steven Alan color palette– I love that he mixes the expected with the unexpected– simple silhouettes with bright colors and fun fabrics– he’s preppy with a little cool. That being said I am not a huge fan of this location. The sales floor is very tight. The rows of clothes are narrow and it is difficult for two shoppers to shop product in the same row at the same time. The dressing rooms are also very small and the curtains barely close: so the dressing room curtains are extra small. Over the summer there were a few really nice, helpful sales women which made the shopping experience more enjoyable, but I don’t think that they work there anymore. Last time I stopped in the staff was fairly coy and basically ignored me when I said«hello», «thank you» and«good-bye.» Notes: Great clothes Most Steven Alan products are made in the USA Small layout– Small fitting rooms– extra small curtains Your husband can find a «his» version of your new favorite shirt in the Steven Alan mens shop next door.

Most of my Steven Alan trips are epic — this last one was… meh. I usually get amazing customer service but that wasn’t the case on my most recent trip. It happened to be my birthday month but I forgot my discount postcard — I was disappointed to learn that they wouldn’t honor the discount even though I am in their system. The sales person was so frantic to unpack stock that she created a whirlwind in the store. It made shopping uncomfortable and really cramped the shopping space. I was able to persevere and found some amazing stuff on sale. Overall I am a huge fan — the staff can just be a little hit or miss.
