I visited this office once in order to receive an annual physical, for which my insurance has no copay. As a result of asking a question about fatigue and how to improve my energy level, I was billed a $ 20 copay for an illness/​injury visit. At no point prior to or during the appointment was I advised that what I said to the doctor could be used as grounds for additional charges, nor was I given the opportunity to decline his advice which, according to their billing department, was «beyond the scope» of an annual physical. After about two weeks of trying to reach this billing department to ask that they resubmit the claim (almost everyone I spoke to by phone was weirdly impatient and resistant to answering questions), they informed me they had consulted the doctor and determined there was no reason to do so.
During the visit, my picture was taken without explanation (or my permission) by the receptionist and then posted (again without my permission) to their strange, basically pointless web portal. They also performed a triglycerides blood test on me without having told me to fast, which, when the results were predictably high, they tried to make me retake (again without telling me to fast), despite the utter improbability a man of my age and health would have high triglycerides. Finally, the doctor also tried to hard sell me on a Hepatitis A vaccine because I am a «man who has sex with men» and not «a man in a monogamous relationship for over four years».
The facility seemed recently renovated, overstaffed, and under used. Looking at other reviews on here, I actually feel a little grateful they didn’t manage to get more money out of me.

I’m very disappointed at the 2 ½ star rating. Perhaps some things have occurred in the past but I’m certain that they have rectified them. This office is absolutely amazing. NEVER have I EVER encountered a business filled with the nicest people anyone could meet.
I found Sunrise Medical on ZocDoc one Monday morning while looking for a same day pre surgery appointment. I was able to book a 2pm appointment. Although I arrived at 2:15. I was seen and had lab work completed by 3:22pm! I’ve waited for delivery longer!
One would assume with service that quick I was rushed through. Not the case. The staff was overwhelmingly friendly and efficient. Before I was finished completing my medical survey I was warmly greeted by the medical assistant and had my vitals taken. By the time I actually finished with my survey I was already being called in to Dr. Dailey’s office.
Dr. Ron Dailey’s beside manner could be best described as familiar. He made me feel comfortable as if he has been my doctor for years which was a relief for me. It was easy to talk to him and discuss my medical history as well as the reason that brought me in that day. He was honest and not pushy and although he gave a great argument and I decided not to get a flu shot, he had a great sense of humor about it which is always appreciated.
Even when I called the office if I did not speak to someone directly, my call was returned within the hour as stated on the answering service. I’ve spoken to several individuals, Rock and Ramel, who were more than helpful and very accommodating. There was another woman who’s name I do not remember who was extremely helpful as well. I mean everyone who I have encountered truly exude positive energy, are always smiling and have gone above and beyond whether over the phone or in person.
So I’m not sure what the place may have been like before but it truly is a gem as far as finding a PCP. I strongly recommend this office for anyone’s preventive care and medical needs.

Dr. Burack is the best ! He’s always efficient, straight to the point, and actually listens to what you have to say. He’s respectful, professional, and honestly is the best doctor I’ve ever been to. I’ve been going up him since I was 18 because my father has been going to him for years. I’ve been to other doctors but never felt comfortable like I do with him. Also, Josh is extremely helpful, and nice. He drew my blood and answered any questions I had. Very appreciative of the staff.

I went to see Dr. Carpenter. He was a great doctor but the receptionists ASSURED me that my insurance would cover my 100% routine/​preventative physical, and I have now been fighting the bill for SIX months as they managed to clear my medical bill, but made no attempt to clear the lab work bill or contact Quest Diagnostics to help me.
I just received final notice and had to pay $ 160 for their mistake, after faxing the bill to «Gus» over and over and over again with NO response. I tried to call every day for weeks and now apparently, my time is up.
I easily won my case with the medical bill itself, because Dr. Carpenter was listed as an In-​network provider on my Blue Cross search, and I easily just printed this out to show them! The fact that NO ONE from the office would help me navigate how to win the lab bill, including Dr. Carpenter when I messaged him multiple times on Weill Cornell Connect, is very disappointing.
Americans are constantly bullied out of good healthcare, and this is just one more practice that I would have to lump into this category of swindlers. Thanks for my $ 160 physical which I was SO CAREFUL to try and avoid since I cannot afford this bill.

Dirty and dark place makes me depressed when I went in. I saw Mrs. Maung before she went on vacation to Russia so of course she didn’t care about me. Also how unprofessional was that the staff had lost my blood before it was suppose to get tested?! Also they waited for about 3 weeks to finally get back to me about the result of what happened. Never went back and decline to go back. I wonder what really happened to my blood…

I love this place. I’ve been going to NP Kevin Lapin for years now and he is excellent. Today he even made sure I ate before he took my blood work as I get faint from needles. He responded to my questions and needs thoroughly and patiently and didn’t rush me out of the office like other doctors usually do. I feel like I’m going home when I visit Sunrise. A Plus service and Highly recommended.

I went on a Sunday because I wanted to be treated for an infection. They gave me a test and would not give me a prescription until the test results came back. The results came back almost a month later, so were useless, and I had to pay $ 40 to the lab for the test. What a cruel joke that I had to go a month without treating an uncomfortable infection. I should have waited until a weekday to go to a place that would give results back on the spot or at worst in a few days.
Even worse, I had initially refused to see the NP because she was out of network, so they told me they would bill the visit to an in-​network dr, but they didn’t do this, and now I owe $ 200 for this completely useless visit. Total cost to me: $ 240 (unless I can get them to stick to their word and bill to the in-​network doctor as promised.)
Once the results came back, I went to an NYU doctor, got a same-​day appt, and diagnosis on the spot. The total cost to me: $ 23.25.

So I had an appt for the first time here back in August and as I walked in to the front desk the front desk staff doesn’t greet you at all with a good morning or anything. I actually greeted her. And said I have an appt with the gyn dr and then after she said ok you have a co pay of $ 15 and I told her I don’t pay a co pay when I’m doing a gyn annual. And she got quite and looked at me and said ok. Good thing I knew that because I’m a receptionist also at a clinic. So I seen the dr she was so professional and you can tell she had experience. I was pleased with her and the visit. When I was done with her I asked the medical assistant if another dr had an opening and if so could I see her as well and she put me in and I was seen. That dr was very nice as well she was so pleasant. Everything went well with the doctors but the front desk needs costumer service training… The doctors i seen was dr Fatehi she the gyn. And dr Kalachi she’s a Nephrologist…

Registered online, though wait time is 2 hours, 15 minutes and counting. A physician and an NP is here today, though apparently Dr. Jadiha has left in the middle of office hours to go to Manhattan, to return when he can. I may amend this review based on the remainder of the visit, but using these people as PCP’s is currently out of the question due to wait times being unacceptable.
*Amendment (1 hour later) — NP was great, MA was a little rude, about to have my blood work drawn. Though the NP was very pleasant and helpful, returning here is not probable due to wait time and the attitude of select staff members.

The docs and LPNs are fine but the admin is terrible, just terrible. You wait forever, they constantly mix things up, and then you wait some more. Customer service, as in many medical environments, is just not a priority.

Despite the many negative reviews, I gave the place a try. I’m beyond glad that I did. Dr. Carpenter was friendly, patient and thorough. He took his time with me which is extremely rare. This was my first office visit and he talked to me as if I had been a patient of his for years. I would HIGHLY recommend him.

After my initial appointment I have discovered it is mega difficult to get in touch with any representatives at Sunrise. I have worked in a call center and customer service roles in the past and was advised that in order to be professional and to encourage business, I should always first alert the party on the phone that I would need to transfer them and whether that was okay, then to also include my name (if not stated before when I first answered the call), title, and extension in case our call was disconnected. It’s also generally good business practice to notify the caller that you would need to place them on hold and to regularly check in with them during the hold period and estimate the time remaining. Both of these tactics I’ve noticed have not been adhered to with the employees at Sunrise I’ve interacted with. I usually get the impression when I call that they are impatient and overburdened, and then without warning I am transferred to either a phone number that is out of service, a voicemail inbox that I need to leave a message at (and do not receive return calls from), or to another department where that person usually informs me that they cannot assist me but then they transfer me to a phone number that is not connected usually as well. In addition to this, their office is pretty dirty and gross (someone needs a vacuum) but I’ve found that this is the norm in NYC (it’s not all whitewashed and beautiful like in Texas or something you know? NYC has old buildings with tons of cockroaches).

I went there today for an appt with Dr. Dailey. They got me in super quick and the staff was awesome and very nice. Dr. Dailey was nice, thorough, listened, and did a great job. Everyone was great from the moment i got there till the end. I didn’t even have a wait really. Everything I was looking for in primary care, very happy.

I would not recommend going there especially if you’re assigned to see a nurse practitioner named Kevin L. Even though he expresses a lot of uncertainty regarding my diagnosis, he prescribed a $ 500 drug despite the fact that cheaper options were available. Apparently he wasn’t knowledgeable enough to know this. After I paid for this and discovered that it wasn’t working and went back to be seen this time by a doctor, the first thing the doctor asked was, «Why did he even think to prescribe this?» There had been a cheaper option for the misdiagnosis. So I spent a fortune on a drug for nothing.

I was honestly shocked to see all of these negative reviews. I have been going to Sunrise for almost two years now and have always been able to get an appointment when I needed it, have always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and have never had to wait long to be seen a doctor.

This place charges you a new patient fee of 350 dollars. There’s no way around it. I made sure beforehand they were in network and covered by my insurance. But I was still billed for 390 dollars a week later.
I have called them countless times at various times of the day/​week for over 2 months and have been hung up on, ignored, and transferred. They simply insisted that the charge is just the way it is.
The doctor I made an appointment with didn’t see me, so a nurse practitioner filled in. I went in because I had a ringing in my ear and thought it could’ve been an ear infection. The nurse practitioner filled out some forms and gave me a strep test. I had no symptoms or complaints about strep throat. That is not a service worth $ 390. I would be okay if there was anything productive done to me. It seemed like I was just paying for their valuable time.
It’s also in a dirty basement.

Contrary to some of the negative reviews here, I’ve had satisfactory and good experiences with this group. I’ve seen both Dr Carpenter and Dr Maung multiple times.
I’ve probably been here 5 – 6 times over the last year. I arrive on time and usually am waiting in the waiting area for about 10 – 15 minutes, and another 5 min or so for the doctor once I’m actually in the exam room.
I’ve been able to get an appointment for the next day when I was really sick, and have been able to schedule for specific times of the day for less urgent appointments. They have an online self-​service page where you can view test results, set up appointments, ask the doctor questions etc which I’ve found convenient.
Front desk staff have been consistently friendly and courteous.

I’m fussy about medical care. My minimum requirements: Easy access to my records and making appts, caring staff, serious medical care. The third element has always been a great strength of Sunrise. I’ve seen both Dr Dailey and Dr. Myoung many times for issue ranging from feeling run down to referrals for neurosurgery. The core doctors (Myoung, Dailey and Burak) are thorough, patient, thorough and knowledgable. They have very different personal styles and proclivities, and I like that — Myoung is more clinical, Burak more holistic and I find Dailey a good synthesis. Try all 3 and find one you feel comfortable with.
Until recently, I wouldn’t have given the practice a 5 star rating because accsss to records, test results, referrals, etc was rather dysfunctional. Their recent connection with Weill Cornell’s system radically transformed this situation — I really feel in control of my healtcare now. And the new system seems to have taken a load off the staff — allowing them to be more attentive. And for whatever reason, coinciding with the affiliation with Weill Cornell, Sunrise Medical Group has added some accomplished specialists — an endocrinologist, a neurologist, and others.
Let me address some issues raised in negative reviews. The waiting room is, as others have noted, in a basement. It’s clean and well lit but no, no views or windows. I found it rather silly that someone complained about a 5 minute wait — it’s a doctor’s office. Waits can be longer. There is medical TV new on, a reasonable selection of reading, and most importantly reliable wi-​fi, so bring your laptop, review your medical records at
, get some work done or get your social media-​izing out of the way for the day.
I simply disagree that the staff is uncaring, but I will say that since the Weill Cornell system was installed, the staff seems less stressed, there’s less chaos, and things seem to run more smoothly.
Finally –while this isn’t a medical issue, strictly speaking — it seemed some of the negative postings had a bit of a, shall we say, aversion to a multi-​cultural environment. If that upsets you, perhaps you can find a clinic in Staten Island where you might feel more comfortable. I actually like that the clientelle is a nice mix of the Greenpoint/​Williamsburg/​Bushwick community — different ethnicities, walks of life, etc, and that everyone gets the same care and attention.

I decided to leave a positive review here out of balance sake and because there were so many negative things written here that I nearly cancelled my appointment.
I had an evening appointment with Dr Fields, waited no more than ten minutes to be processed and found all of the staff friendly. Maybe if you’re a stickler for a very formal version of politeness you would be otherwise, but if have the ability to empathize with other people doing a difficult and exhausting job you might come to a more understanding conclusion. Dr Fields was exactly my kind of doctor, listened to what I had to say and gave me his learned opinion.

Place is pretty horrible, not sure what happened. My family went a few years ago and they were fine but something changed in the last few years where it turned bad. Real bad.
I waited 3 hours for a appointment. The waiting room was so full people sat on the ground! I had to call multiple times and beg someone to respond back to me for test results. Finally I stopped in the office to get them in person because I was sick of no response on the phone and they still had no idea what was going. The majority of the staff doesn’t seem to care and are too busy gossiping. There was multiple times where I was in conversation with one about my results and they just turned away to tell the other girl her Friday night plans. I don’t care about your Friday night plans.
Go someplace else.
